Chapter 1578: Not the full thing

"You’re back."

The fairy wasn’t surprised to see that Lin Fan was back, but the way that she looked at him was a bit strange.

It was as if there was something that she didn’t expect from him.

It was as if there was something that had greatly changed from the last time that she saw him.

Lin Fan knew exactly what it was that surprised her, but it wasn’t as if there was much that he could say about this. He certainly didn’t expect all of this to happen after he left this place.

But since it had happened, it wasn’t as if he was going to give back everything that he gained.

Only because he had gained all of this, it made him aware of something.

"I’m back to claim it."

A faint smile appeared on the fairy’s face when she heard this and it didn’t seem like she was surprised by what she heard.

After all, it was a fact that she hadn’t given Lin Fan the full thing that he wanted when he had been here last. She had only given a part of it and had used the transfer of the database into Xiao Mu to cover up the rest.

Only now that Lin Fan needed it, he was back to reclaim the full inheritance of this tower.

The fairy didn’t seem to react at first with the way that she just looked at him.

Seeing the way that the fairy looked at him, Lin Fan raised his guard as well since he had no idea what she was planning to do. The only thing that he knew was that it seemed like she was plotting something with how she looked at him.

In the end, the fairy didn’t do anything.

Instead, she just simply turned around and said, "The final test is waiting for you."

A wry smile appeared on Lin Fan’s face when he heard this.

He thought that he had already passed all the tests that were in this place, but now it seemed like there was something else that was left for him.

In that case, the only thing that he could do was take the test that was left and see if he could pass it. If he could, then he would receive the inheritance of this place.

If he couldn’t, then he would have to find another way to talk to this fairy and convince her to hand it over.

After all, this wasn’t something that he could give up.

Lin Fan needed the authority from all of the pavilions in the outer part of the Dao Sect if he wanted to do anything in the inner part. Unless he had the authority, it wouldn’t matter what he tried to do.

That was the truth that he had figured out from his experience in the inner part of the Dao Sect.

It was just that when he saw the test that was placed in front of him, there was a strange look that appeared on Lin Fan’s face. After looking at this test for a bit, he couldn’t help looking up at the fairy who was sitting at the teacher’s desk.

He found that the fairy had been staring at him the entire time, almost as if she was watching to see what he would do. It wasn’t that she thought that he would cheat, it was just that it felt like there was a certain answer that the fairy was expecting from him.

It was only a single answer since there was only a single question that was on the test.

But it was this question that made him hesitate.

"What is the Dao Sect to you?"

Lin Fan just didn’t know how to answer this question at all.

Even though he had formed bonds with the elders of the former Dao Sect, it wasn’t as if he had formed any bonds with the Dao Sect itself. As far as he was concerned, the Dao Sect was nothing more than a sect that had long collapsed in the past.

So it wasn’t as if there was anything in particular that he felt towards it.

But seeing the question here, it seemed like it was guiding the one that took the test to give a specific answer about the Dao Sect. It really felt like it was guiding the one taking the test to lie about the Dao Sect.

Which was why Lin Fan was confused about how to answer it.

As time passed, it didn’t seem like the fairy was going to give him any hints at all. But still, the incense that the fairy took out was burning away just like during the other tests.

It wasn’t as if Lin Fan could just leave this question blank, even though there was a part of him that had considered whether that was the right answer or not. But in the end, he decided that this wasn’t the case since he could see the anticipation that was in the fairy’s eyes. ℴ

After thinking about it, Lin Fan decided that he wouldn’t put too much effort into this answer. After all, trying to give an answer that he didn’t believe in would just backfire on him.

"The Dao Sect is just a place for people to come and cultivate. The sect itself isn’t important, it’s the people that are the most important."

When the fairy took the answer sheet from him and read his answer, she couldn’t help knitting her brows.

A bitter feeling filled Lin Fan when he saw this since the way that she acted really made it seem like this was the wrong answer.

But in the end, there was a smile that replaced that frown that was on her face.

It was a smile that slowly appeared, but there was no mistaking that it was a smile that appeared.

It was just that seeing this smile confused Lin Fan since he had no idea what the fairy was thinking when it gave this smile.

"You pass."

He was even more caught off guard when the fairy suddenly announced this.

Lin Fan didn’t know what the fairy was thinking, but it didn’t seem like the fairy was messing with him when it said this. Otherwise it wouldn’t have looked at him the way that it was looking at him.

At the same time, the fairy was bringing him to a different room because of this.

This was a room that was even higher up than that small room that he had been brought to previously, but this wasn’t actually a room that was designed to hold books. Rather, this place looked like a room that was some kind of study.

From the things that were scattered around the room, it really felt like the fairy had been living here for a long time. Even though the fairy shouldn’t have needed a place to stay because it was supposed to be a part of the tower itself.

The strangest thing was that the fairy didn’t take any shame in the state of her room.

Even though there were things that were scattered all over the place, the fairy just didn’t seem to care that Lin Fan saw everything that she had tossed out.

Instead, she went over to the desk and sat down before turning to look at Lin Fan.

Lin Fan raised a brow to look at her when she sat down like this, but it didn’t seem like she was about to do anything. So in the end, he couldn’t help asking, "What is going on?"

The fairy didn’t say anything as she suddenly slid something across the table.

Seeing what it was, Lin Fan couldn’t help revealing a bitter smile before saying, "Did you have to go through all of that?"

The fairy didn’t say anything, but the smile that was on her face already made it clear what she would have said. Seeing this, Lin Fan didn’t bother arguing with the fairy since he knew that he wouldn’t be able to win against her.

All he did was take the badge that was on the table and bring it over to the token that he possessed.

The moment that they touched, the same thing happened where there was a light that was transferred from the badge over to the token. Once the light had been transferred, it was as if nothing at all had happened.

But Lin Fan could feel that there was something different about the token.

In fact, he couldn’t help being caught off guard by how much the feeling from the token changed.

"This is an important facility, I’m sure you can guess why." The fairy said as if she had read his mind.

Lin Fan didn’t argue with her since he could understand why this would be considered an important facility. It was just that there was a part of him that couldn’t help feeling doubtful because of it.

"If it’s so important, why isn’t it in the inner part of the Dao Sect?"

Though after thinking about it for a bit, he actually came up with an answer for his own question.

"It’s because they want to let the outer sect disciples enter this place as well."

The first few floors were clearly for the weaker outer sect disciples and elders of the Dao Sect. It was only the upper floors that contained the important cultivation techniques that were restricted.

So it made sense to have this tower built in the outer sect.

It wasn’t as if they could just let anyone enter the inner sect whenever they wanted to.
