Chapter 1588: This was the wrong one

After receiving guidance from Su Ling, Lin Fan didn’t force her to tell him anything else.

Since she had already reached her limit, he brought Ye Qing Huan and Xiao Mu away as soon as possible so that they wouldn’t do anything else that might harm her.

At the same time, it wasn’t as if he could wait to see what kind of difference there would be once he arrived at the pavilion this time.

However, there was a problem.

"There are two pavilions that are in that direction."

It was only a general direction that Su Ling’s finger had pointed out, so it wasn’t as if there was a specific target for them to head to. Which meant that Lin Fan had to choose one of the two pavilions to go to.

Looking at the pavilions that were marked on the map, he turned in the direction of Xiao Mu with a gaze as if he was asking it what these were.

Xiao Mu looked at them as well before shaking its head.

Lin Fan hadn’t actually expected an answer from Xiao Mu since it wasn’t as if Xiao Mu would know anything about this. The only reason that he had even looked in Xiao Mu’s direction was that he hoped that it would have some information.

But in the first place, Xiao Mu was a training dummy that came from the outer part of the Dao Sect. All of the information in its database also came from the outer part of the Dao Sect.

So it was very normal that Xiao Mu wouldn’t know anything about these pavilions.

In the end, it was up to Lin Fan to choose one of them on his own.

Looking at the two pavilions again, Lin Fan tried to see if there was anything on the map that would give him some kind of information. It was just that no matter how he stared at the map, there was nothing that came to mind.

Even his instincts were not working like it normally would have.

So in the end, he had no choice but to rely on the one thing that he was used to relying on.

"Eenie, meenie, money, mo."

Both Ye Qing Huan and Xiao Mu raised a brow to look at Lin Fan with doubt seeing him act this way, but they didn’t say anything as they watched him choose the pavilion with this method.

After his finger landed on one of the pavilions, Lin Fan didn’t hesitate any longer.

This was the ancient method of choosing that was passed down in his previous life, so he wasn’t going to go against it. It was just that when he arrived at the pavilion, the first thing that he thought was...

"This was the wrong one."

That was just based on the appearance of this place, but he was able to hold himself back from judgement since it really looked bad.

It seemed like a place where garbage was dumped, that was just how bad this place seemed.

But when they looked more closely, they could see that this was on purpose. It seemed like this pavilion was actually designed with this purpose in mind.

"Does that mean that this is a place to dump garbage?"

It really didn’t seem to make sense that such a place would exist inside of the Dao Sect, but Lin Fan found that Ye Qing Huan quickly came to accept the appearance of this place.

The way that she looked at it, it was almost as if this was a very normal thing to have in a sect.

When Ye Qing Huan saw the way that Lin Fan looked at her, she explained, "There are many things that are considered too dangerous to keep in the sect, but they can’t be left alone either. That is why there needs to be a place to store those things."

When she put it like this, Lin Fan understood what the purpose of this place was.

If the law enforcement pavilion was a place to lock up dangerous people, this was a place to seal dangerous items.

Once again, Lin Fan thought to himself, "This was the wrong one."

If they were items that were too dangerous even for the Dao Sect that they had to be sealed off in this place, then there was no doubt that it would be too dangerous for them as well. There really was no telling what would happen once they entered this place.

So it was best if they went to the other pavilion instead of this one...

"We’ll take a look at what’s inside."

A wry smile appeared on Lin Fan’s face when he heard this.

He turned to look at Ye Qing Huan as if he was prepared to change her mind, but he could see the look on his face. This was the look that she had when she was interested in something, the look that showed that she had already made up her mind.

Since she was looking at this pavilion like this, it meant that she wanted to know what was inside of this place regardless of how dangerous it was.

The only thing that Lin Fan could do was go along with her.

"It shouldn’t be dangerous since everything is sealed." That was how he convinced himself, but even he didn’t believe it.

After all, it had been a long time since the Dao Sect had even existed, so it wasn’t as if there was maintenance that was done on these arrays that sealed off these dangerous items.

So with how long had passed, it was very likely that some of the seals had already broken down.

There really was no telling what kind of effects the items that were stored within would have on those that entered.

Lin Fan gave a gulp before walking forward to take the lead.

He didn’t know what he was doing, but he held the token in his hand just in case something happened. He was planning on using the token to respond to whatever changes occurred in this place.

But in the end...

"There’s nothing here?" Ye Qing Huan said in a disappointed voice.

Lin Fan wasn’t disappointed like she was, he was more relieved that there wasn’t anything that came out at them. Though he didn’t show it on his face since he knew that Ye Qing Huan would have something to say about this.

However, it turned out that it wasn’t that simple either.

The way that the dangerous items were stored in this place was that they were placed in holes that seemed to have restriction arrays on them. Which meant that there were countless holes that were found all over the place.

The ones that were at the entrance still seemed fine, but there was no telling what might change the further in they went. Which meant that there really might be some kind of trap waiting for them if they were to go further in.

"She’s not going to listen." Lin Fan thought to himself with a secret sigh when he saw the look on Ye Qing Huan’s face.

If he could figure this out, naturally she would be able to figure it out as well.

So the only thing that he could do now was hope that the arrays placed by the Dao Sect were strong enough to hold back the things that were sealed in this place.

After taking a moment to gather themselves, they continued moving forward in this place.

As they continued, they found that this place actually became bigger and bigger. However, it wasn’t as if this was because this place occupied more space as they went further in.

"There are spatial fluctuations that are around us." Ye Qing Huan said as she looked around.

She was more familiar with this than Lin Fan since she had taken transport arrays more than he had. So she was able to sense those spatial energy fluctuations much more quickly.

Lin Fan also sensed them as well, but there was something else that gave him the answer first.

"It’s an array that increases the size of the space inside of this one area. It’s almost like creating a Minor World, but it isn’t the same." Lin Fan muttered to himself as he saw what the Appraisal Eyes told him.

But there was something else that the Appraisal Eyes told him about this place that went to show just how dangerous it was.

This spatial array was created in a way where if there was too much disturbance, it would collapse in on itself and destroy everything that was here.

This wasn’t an option that one would normally include in a spatial array since it was much too dangerous to include. But in a place like this, it really fit perfectly since it was used as a preventative measure.

Basically, this spatial array was used as a final resort.

In the first place, this was a prison for the dangerous items that were here. So naturally they wouldn’t want to let these things escape if they did break free of the restriction array.

If things reached a point where they really couldn’t solve it manually anymore, then they would collapse this spatial array in this space and destroy everything.

This was the reset button for this place.

"So the fact that it hasn’t collapsed yet should mean that there isn’t too much danger, right?" Lin Fan wasn’t really that hopeful about this, he was still just trying to make himself feel better about this situation.
