Chapter 1589: Guiding voices

As they went further and further in, they naturally found more and more holes as this space expanded.

But the sheer amount of holes that were in this place did catch them off guard.

It seemed like the Dao Sect had been quite busy in the past if they were able to gather enough items to fill all of these holes. And they knew that the holes were filled because they could see the restriction arrays that were covering them.

However, there had to be something that they were supposed to do here.

If Lin Fan wanted to receive the authority of this place, he had to do something that would allow him to take it. Only it didn’t seem like there was anything in this place that would give him that.

The further that they went in, the more holes that they saw.

It didn’t even feel like there was an end to all of this with how long it seemed to stretch on.

"Just how many things has the Dao Sect collected and sealed away over the years?"

That was the only thing that was on their minds seeing all of these holes in front of them.

Eventually, Lin Fan suddenly stopped and turned to look at Ye Qing Huan and Xiao Mu.

Neither of them were surprised to see him turn around since they had been planning to say something as well.

After all, it wasn’t as if they could just keep going like this. Especially since it didn’t seem like there was going to be an end to this.

"Is there an illusion array here?"

That was the first thing that they had to figure out since it did seem like there was something that was trapping them in here. But if that was the case, then they would have already felt the traces of being stuck in an illusion.

In the end, passing that cave filled with the illusion array had sharpened their senses when it came to things like this. So if there had been an illusion array around them, they would have already noticed it.

If it wasn’t an illusion array, then it meant that there really were all of these things that were considered dangerous that were sealed here.

After taking a moment to think it through, Lin Fan finally decided, "Let’s take a look at the holes."

To which, both Ye Qing Huan and Xiao Mu agreed.

Though they didn’t know what to expect, they still wanted to see just what kind of things were sealed here. After all, it was only their guess that there were these dangerous items that were sealed here.

There might not even be anything down there if they didn’t take a closer look at the holes. It might have just been their mistake that there were things sealed in each one of these holes.

"What dense energy..."

It wasn’t a mistake, there really were things that were sealed inside of these holes.

It wasn’t just a single hole that had this dense energy in it, almost all of the holes that were here were filled with this dense energy.

The ones that didn’t have this dense energy were still filled with strong energy that shrouded us from seeing what was kept inside.

With all of these holes being filled like this, it was clear that this place was indeed a place that was built to seal dangerous items. Or else they wouldn’t have filled the holes with this kind of dense energy.

"Isn’t this dangerous?"

If they had created something like this, it would have made sense that they would have created something that would be able to filter this dense energy as well. Creating a cage like this that didn’t actually filter out this dense energy, it was no different from creating a bunch of...

"Bombs, this is a field filled with bombs that are just waiting to explode..."

But that didn’t feel right either.

When the Dao Sect created this place, it wasn’t as if they wouldn’t have thought of this. This was a place that they had created to hold these dangerous items for a long time, so they should have already considered the problem of the energy from the items building up like this.

Which means that there should have been something that was installed to filter all of this energy.

Yet the fact that it built up like this meant that something wasn’t working...

"Is it because this requires human interference? Is it something that needs to be activated to actually filter out the built up energy?"

If that was the case, then at least that was some kind of direction for them to follow.

After all, the one that was capable of activating this would be the one that has control over this entire place. That would be like having the authority of this area that was created to seal these items.

Looking at the restriction arrays that were above the holes, it didn’t seem like there was anything that could be done here. It only made sense that one wouldn’t be able to actually do anything from here.

If that function had been installed with each of these restriction arrays, it really would be hard to imagine just how long it would take to activate them all. As far as the eye could see, there were countless holes that were here that all had restriction arrays on them.

So for maximum efficiency, it would only make sense that there was some kind of central terminal that would be used to control and monitor all of the restriction arrays.

Something like that would no doubt be located deeper into this place.

Looking up at Ye Qing Huan and Xiao Mu, it seemed like the two of them were thinking the same thing as him.

So without a word, they continued deeper into this place in hopes of finding this terminal.

Though they weren’t certain if there was actually a terminal in this place or not, they would at least try to find it since this was the only clue that they had found so far.

As they were heading deeper into this place, it didn’t seem like there was anything that was changing around them.

That was until Xiao Mu suddenly said, "Did anyone else hear that?"

Both Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan turned to look at Xiao Mu with a brow raised as they didn’t know what Xiao Mu was talking about. But they could see from the look on Xiao Mu’s face that it seemed like it really had heard something.

Xiao Mu kept looking around like it was trying to find the source of this voice that it was hearing.

Only it didn’t seem like a single voice as Xiao Mu started looking in different directions.

It was as if there were multiple voices that were coming from all around Xiao Mu with the way that it was looking around.

But no matter how they tried to hear it, they couldn’t hear a single thing coming from around them. It really didn’t seem like there was anything there with how silent this place was.

It really felt like Xiao Mu had gone crazy with how it was hearing voices.

Eventually, it seemed like Xiao Mu found the source of the voices that it was hearing. It was just that these voices were coming from a very strange place.

"Are you sure that it’s coming from here?" Lin Fan asked when Xiao Mu led them to where the voices were coming from.

Xiao Mu didn’t respond right away, but eventually Xiao Mu gave a firm nod to confirm this.

The way that Xiao Mu nodded showed just how certain it was of this.

It was just that there didn’t seem to be anything inside of the hole that was in front of them. And even if there was, the restriction array should have prevented it from reaching out to them like this.

So the fact that Xiao Mu could hear the voices...

After a long moment of silence, the two of them just looked at Xiao Mu without saying anything.

They didn’t need to ask anything to know what it was that Xiao Mu was hearing since there was only one thing that the items inside of the holes could be asking Xiao Mu.

Even Xiao Mu’s expression made it very clear what it was hearing.

However, it didn’t seem like Xiao Mu was moved by the words of these things at all.

It wasn’t that Xiao Mu had a strong will that allowed it to ignore these temptations, it was more that the restriction arrays were still working and stopped the things inside the holes from doing anything.

But the fact that Xiao Mu could hear these voices meant that these things were still conscious after all of the years that they had been restrained in this place. Or it could even be said that the restriction arrays were getting weaker which allowed them to contact Xiao Mu like this.

It seemed like they had to find whatever it was that controlled the restriction arrays as soon as possible or else things might become even worse.

Or perhaps things were already worse deeper inside of this place.

"But why are they talking to you?" That was the gaze that Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan looked at Xiao Mu with.

They were wondering if there was something special about Xiao Mu that incited these things trapped in the holes to contact it.

But it didn’t seem like Xiao Mu had an idea why this was the case either.
