Chapter 1620: No suspense

As the water needles clashed with the water needles, it didn’t seem like either side was able to break through.

In terms of power, it seemed like the water needles that Lin Fan created and the water needles that came at him were equal.

Though in terms of quantity, it didn’t seem like Lin Fan was able to match the stars that were shooting out the needles. After all, he had only absorbed a single water star while there were four that were left shooting out these water needles.

It would have been strange if he could match the quantity released by all of them.

But that didn’t mean that he couldn’t stop the water needles that were coming at him.

Even though he was outmatched when it came to quantity, Lin Fan had other abilities that allowed him to stop all of the water needles that were coming at him. Even before he absorbed one of the water stars and started shooting out water needles, he was still able to deal with the water needles easily.

"If I absorb all four of these water stars, then I’ll be able to do the same thing." Lin Fan was a bit excited as he looked at the four water stars that were still running away from him.

The look in his eyes showed that he was already determined to swallow all four of them no matter what happened.

After all, he recognized the power of the water needles that they created.

Even if he didn’t think that he would be able to create water needles that were on the same level as the ones from before, he was certain that he would be able to use a portion of that power.

Against the people that Lin Fan normally faced, that was more than enough.

Just like that, their positions had completely changed.

Before this, the water stars were predators that were hunting down Lin Fan and shooting water needles at him. But now that he was chasing them down like this, it was as if he was the predator that would stop at nothing to swallow them.

If anyone were to see this, they definitely would have thought that Lin Fan was some kind of freak to be able to turn the situation around like this.

It didn’t take long for him to catch up to the water stars and absorb them all.

But at the same time, Lin Fan had been looking around and waiting for the source of these things to do something. He didn’t think that it would allow him to absorb these water stars so easily.

"Is that really it?"

Lin Fan stood there with a confused look on his face as he looked around himself.

There really had been nothing that came out after he absorbed the water stars that made him a bit disappointed. He really thought that it wouldn’t leave things as they were, he thought that it would do something to pressure him while he was focused on the water stars.

In the end, Lin Fan was able to find the border of this area and the array that was keeping him here. Though when he found it, he saw that this one was much more complicated than the one that he faced before.

He was prepared for something to appear while he tried to figure out this array, but there was nothing that came at him.

Which was why he could only step through with this disappointed feeling inside of him.

That disappointed feeling didn’t disappear when he saw what was in front of him.

"This is the source?"

From the aura that came from this pond, it really felt like this was the core of this place. This was the pure water elemental item that controlled this entire place.

The reason that Lin Fan was disappointed was because he thought that he would have to face at least another trial or two to reach this place. After all, even the illusion cave had a total of five trials before it ended.

Yet this place only had three stages.

Two of them were even beginner stages that were a bit too easy for him to pass.

So it felt like this had come to a premature end.

But when he reached the pond without a single problem, Lin Fan knew that this was the end of this trial. After all, he could tell that the only thing that he had to face was the full force of this pond.

Now that he was in front of the pond, he could feel the pressure that was coming from it.

It was much stronger than what he had experienced previously, it was the kind of pressure that really forced everything related to water under it. At the same time, there was this draining force that was coming from it as if it wanted to absorb every trace of moisture from him.

But after taking all that time to get here, it wasn’t as if Lin Fan wasn’t used to this.

He didn’t even need to use his full power to resist the power of the pond, he could just stand there with the suction force draining away that power.

"What do I want to do with this thing?"

It wasn’t that he didn’t want to take this pond away with him, it was more that he didn’t know how he would absorb this pond.

Though he was able to deal with the pressure that came from it, Lin Fan could tell that the pond itself wouldn’t be that simple. If he were to absorb it directly, it seemed like it would be too much for his body to handle.

So he had to figure out a way to take bits of it from the pond and absorb it slowly.

Or that would have been the case if Lin Fan didn’t notice something on the side.

There was actually a small mechanism that was used exactly for this purpose.

Though the way that it did it was that it turned the water in the pond into spiritual energy to be absorbed. This seemed to be the reward for those disciples of the Dao Sect that reached this place.

So in the end, this seemed to be a training area for the core disciples of the Dao Sect.

However, this wasn’t exactly what Lin Fan wanted.

After all, this mechanism would dilute the water in the pond and weaken it by turning it into spiritual energy. It wouldn’t remain in the form of pure water elemental energy that Lin Fan wanted to absorb.

"Let’s take a closer look at this. It has to have a way to transport the water, so I just need to intercept it there."

The way that it seemed to be designed, it was as if the mechanism was used to turn the water into vapour. So before this, there had to be a part of the mechanism that pulled the water out of the pond and to the part that turned the water to vapour.

That was where Lin Fan would intercept the water and take it in the form that he wanted.

When he looked closely, there was a faint smile that appeared on Lin Fan’s face.

That was because he had indeed found the part where the water was being transported. It was just that when he saw it, he couldn’t help feeling that it was a bit funny.

"This is just a pressure pump..."

It seemed that even though this water was formed from pure water elemental energy, it actually still behaved in the same way as water. So that was why they were able to use a pressure pump to bring the water to where they wanted it to go.

One wouldn’t have thought that such a simple solution would have been enough to solve this, but honestly the Dao Sect was the only place that could have come up with this kind of solution.

After all, the materials that this pressure pump was made of weren’t normal at all.

These materials were all precious items if they were taken out of the Dao Sect.

In a way, it could even be said that the Dao Sect was quite wasteful to use these materials like this.

But there was no one that could say anything about the Dao Sect for using these things like this.

"They were strong enough to obtain these materials and use them, so why shouldn’t they use them like this? This is just their right as those that had obtained these materials."

After finding the pressure pump, Lin Fan started looking into tapping the pipe that held the water that it drained from the pond. The problem was that this pipe was quite hard since it was made from a material that was able to resist the water itself.

So in the end, Lin Fan had to find a connecting part of that and use his own Clear Water to pull the water out. Since it acted like water, he used a concept that he had learned in his past life and drew it out with osmosis.

After taking out the first drop, Lin Fan took a deep breath before swallowing it.

"Ugh..."

The pressure that came from absorbing this was much stronger than he had even anticipated. He already knew that this would be powerful, but it was greater than he thought.

However, that didn’t mean that there weren’t any benefits to doing this.

"I can feel it. I was wrong before, this is the real feeling of being the ruler of water."
