Wizard: Building a Golem Legion From Zero
Chapter 516 - 502: Ten Thousand Miles of Sunshine
Chapter 516: Chapter 502: Ten Thousand Miles of Sunshine
「A year and a half later.」
「The Great Library Plane, Seventh Cross-Realm Transfer Port.」
One hundred and twenty large berths lined the floating ring, their loading platforms piled high with all sorts of packaged ores and supplies.
Above the port, a massive shadow would pass through the clouds every few minutes.
The port received hundreds of cross-planar vehicles daily.
Floating Cities, Alchemy Battleships, Living Battleships, and even Flying Giant Beasts pulled by chains—the port staff had seen it all.
So, when Allen rented a large berth, the Wizard on duty merely lifted an eyelid.
"Rental duration?"
"Twenty-four hours."
"Vehicle length?"
"Fifteen hundred meters."
The Wizard’s hand, holding his pen, paused.
He looked at Allen again.
"A private warship?"
"Yes."
"Weapons off. Do not charge the main cannon. Within the port’s perimeter, Protective Force Field output must not exceed ten percent. You will pay in full for any damage to the berth."
"Understood."
"Sir, Berth Seventy-three has been cleared."
"Thank you."
Allen turned and left.
Becoming a Morning Star Wizard didn’t solve every problem, but it did cut down on a lot of waiting time.
Above Berth Seventy-three, Allen hovered in mid-air and raised his right hand.
Golem Projection Skill!
In the next instant, space parted.
A black line expanded to a thousand meters, and a giant Space Gate abruptly appeared above the berth.
Behind the gate were the neatly arranged lights of the Cybertron Shipyard’s interior.
A low rumble echoed from beyond the gate, and the sharp, black bow of a ship emerged first.
Then came the main cannon, the bridge, the armored belt, and an immense hull that stretched out of sight.
A fifteen-hundred-meter-long black warship slowly glided out of Cybertron.
Five Magic Furnaces powered the engines. The thrusters at the stern lit up with a deep blue glow, yet the massive hull made little noise.
This warship’s design differed from those common in the Wizarding World. It had no Magic Wind Sails, spires, or exaggerated statues inherited from the ancient age of seafaring.
It retained the longsword-like silhouette of a Purifier capital ship, but its bow was narrower, revealing clean, layered decks and weapon platforms in their retracted state.
A large amount of Earth Vein Tempered Steel gave the entire warship a heavy, black appearance.
The black hull was devoid of any decoration, with only a single line of Wizard text printed on the side of the bow.
Ten Thousand Miles of Sunshine
The chatter at the port ceased for a moment.
A two-headed alien merchant looked up for a long while before his left head spoke:
"Which Floating City’s new warship is that?"
The right head shook.
"No Magic Wind Sails, no Elemental Towers, and no external spellcasting platforms. It doesn’t look like it was made by a Wizard."
A white-robed Wizard standing nearby stared at the main cannon on the bow.
"The design is quite good-looking, though."
"It’s just too black."
Allen overheard their comments and was in a good mood.
This could be considered the launching ceremony for his expensive warship.
After it had completely exited the Space Gate, twelve port-side tractor beams simultaneously locked onto the hull, guiding the warship down toward the berth.
The Ten Thousand Miles of Sunshine was not a complete replica of a Purifier capital ship.
The data he had brought back was missing the overall hull design, the power distribution system, and over seventy percent of the material formulas. Cybertron could only reverse-engineer and complete the design based on the available data.
Its theoretical performance was about eighty percent of the original.
Five large Magic Furnaces formed its Energy Core. The main hull was constructed from Earth Vein Tempered Steel, with key locations embedded with Luminite Blacksteel.
Beneath the outer armor were twelve Super AT Field Generators and one Anti-Witchcraft Defense Field.
Mounted on the bow was a "Return to Zero" Antimatter Annihilation Main Cannon, built exactly according to the blueprints.
The sides were equipped with eighty-four Plasma Bombardment Cannons, as well as one thousand three hundred and twenty universal launch cells loaded with Red Lotus Magic Missiles.
Allen teleported onto the bridge.
The silver-gray blast doors slid open.
The main bridge, with an area of over a thousand square meters, was laid out in tiers. A curved observation window dominated the front, and three levels of control consoles encircled the central command chair.
The floor was paneled with dark wood, and the rest area was even furnished with a liquor cabinet and a temperature-controlled buffet counter.
This was a very un-Purifier-like design.
’The Mechanical Realm has no need for sofas, nor do they drink alcohol.’
He sat down in the command chair, and the backrest adjusted automatically.
Sixteen threads of his consciousness connected to the warship’s systems one by one, and the lights on the bridge brightened in response.
Welcome aboard, Commander.
Jarvis’s voice emanated from all around the bridge.
"Space Gate status?"
Connection stable.
In the belly of the warship was a large transit hangar. At the far end of the hangar, a permanent Space Gate with a three-hundred-meter diameter maintained a constant connection to Cybertron.
It wasn’t just a transport channel, but also an anchor to reality.
As long as the Space Gate wasn’t severed, Allen could travel to and from Cybertron at any time, deploying two Level 4 Golems and his existing legions onto the battlefield.
Other people’s ships carried crew.
His ship anchored an entire industrial Plane.
’A sense of security, it seems, is best measured in tens of thousands of tons.’
"Disengage mooring clamps."
Clamps disengaged.
"Activate the Anti-gravity Array."
A transparent ripple spread out from beneath the Ten Thousand Miles of Sunshine.
The fifteen-hundred-meter-long black warship detached from the berth, ascended smoothly, and headed for the upper atmosphere.
There were two main methods of inter-planar travel.
The first was via Star Gate.
It was fast and low-risk, with only one problem.
It was expensive.
Based on the volume of the Ten Thousand Miles of Sunshine, a single trip through a large Star Gate was estimated to cost five million Low-Level Magic Stones. A round trip would be ten million, and that was on top of having to apply for large-vessel passage rights in advance.
If one were transporting high-value cargo, this fee was acceptable.
But just for travel, it was like burning Magic Stones for firewood.
Moreover, many fringe Planes had no public Star Gates at all, and the Star Gates of some important Planes were controlled by local powers, giving outsiders no chance to even get a price quote.
The second method was to traverse the Sea of Magical Power.
A vehicle would first have to break through the planar crystal wall and then navigate on its own according to a set of coordinates.
This method had no toll, but the barrier to entry was higher.
The vehicle required, at a minimum, Dawn Star Level protection and propulsion, and its navigation system had to be exceptionally reliable.
A coordinate deviation of even one in ten thousand could cause one to miss the target Plane and become forever lost in the Magic Sea.
Since arriving in the Wizarding World, Allen had relied on Star Gates for all his inter-planar travel.
Today was the first exception.
Current altitude: thirty thousand kilometers. Approaching the planar crystal wall.
The Ten Thousand Miles of Sunshine passed through the sea of clouds.
The color of the sky gradually deepened, but the sunlight did not diminish.
The sun of the Great Library Plane was not a star; it was located within the layer of Law, providing light and heat to the entire Plane.
The warship continued its ascent.
High-altitude Magic Turbulence battered the hull, causing vast hexagonal patterns of light to ripple across the surface of the AT Field.
The five Magic Furnaces increased their output, and the black warship pushed toward the crystal wall layer, pressing against the ever-increasing pressure.
Soon, a barrier of indescribable color appeared ahead.
It was the physical manifestation of this Plane’s concept of a "boundary."
Any matter lacking the ability to cross realms would be erased upon contact.
"Dimensional Navigation Engine, full power."
A tremor ran through the depths of the ship.
The space before them seemed to begin to fold.
The bow of the Ten Thousand Miles of Sunshine faded from reality, followed by the hull and stern. The entire warship entered a dimensional interlayer and began its transit through the crystal wall.
A series of alarms blared.
External pressure at 71% of design limit.
Bow armor Law erosion rate: 0.03%.
AT Field stable.
Allen watched the constantly changing data without ordering a deceleration.
A few seconds later, the warship suddenly felt light.
All the alarms ceased at that exact moment.
The sky outside the observation window vanished, and for the first time, Allen saw the scene outside the Plane.
There was no up or down.
No near or far.
Countless colors mixed together, constantly changing their form in the observer’s consciousness. A massive tide of energy cut across the void. One Plane after another floated like glass marbles in the Sea of Magical Power, their outer crystal walls shimmering with different lusters.
The Great Library Plane was behind the warship.
Viewed from here, it was a gigantic ball of light enveloped in a pale blue crystal wall, its oceans, Floating Islands, and sun all compressed into layered, illusory images.
Allen stood up from the command chair. He was finally no longer peeking at the universe through the cracks of a Star Gate.
Jarvis was frantically recording data, gathering information with all its might.
"Import the coordinates for Hub City."
Coordinates confirmed.
"Set a round-trip course. Begin the first inter-planar shakedown cruise."
Estimated travel time: seven hours and forty-three minutes.
First independent inter-planar voyage: successful.
From now on, there would be no more queuing, no more transfers, and no more paying tolls to Star Gate operators. As long as he had the coordinates, the myriad Planes would be open to him.
