Chapter 264: Chapter 266: War, War

"There’s a reason relics are called relics."

A cold smile touched Farrete’s lips as he looked down at the Magic Energy Giant Cannons on the ground.

He said this because the Magic Energy Giant Cannons had an incredibly long charge-up time before firing.

It was typically three to four times longer than that of the War Witchcraft Artifacts.

Because of this sluggishness, the upper echelons of the Wizard World had reached a consensus to phase out the Magic Energy Giant Cannons.

However, the Magic Energy Giant Cannons had once been the primary weapon used by the Wizard World in its expeditions to other worlds.

Phasing them out completely all at once was unrealistic, so the cannons were relegated to clearing out cannon fodder.

The main threats were dealt with by the War Witchcraft Artifacts instead.

Besides that, the other reason the Magic Energy Giant Cannons weren’t completely decommissioned was their pure, unadulterated destructive Power.

At that moment, in the rear of the Racial Alliance Army, Wulumu watched the second wave of Witchcraft erupt from the Star Realm Battleship and subconsciously clenched his fists.

It only took a moment’s thought for him to realize the gap between the Magic Energy Giant Cannons his Racial Alliance Army possessed and the enemy’s War Witchcraft Artifacts.

’No wonder those bastards are so calm. With such a huge disparity between our respective armaments, it’d be stranger if they actually ran!’

Wulumu’s expression turned grim. Then, a realization dawned on him.

He didn’t know how many enemies had invaded their world this time.

’Don’t tell me I have to take action personally already?’

Wulumu stared at the Star Realm Battleship, his eyes darting back and forth.

After a quick calculation, he determined that the Racial Alliance Army did have the strength to destroy these strange artifacts before them.

But it would require burying the enemy in bodies, a sacrifice that would cost the Racial Alliance Army at least half its Power.

That was why the thought of intervening personally had crossed his mind.

But a new problem presented itself to Wulumu.

There had to be even more powerful beings behind these strange artifacts.

Perhaps even beings more powerful than him.

The reason these beings hadn’t appeared yet was likely because they were waiting for him, Sakro, and Gedra to show themselves.

Following this line of thought, a possibility suddenly occurred to Wulumu.

And the more he considered it, the more certain he became.

’Sacrifice a portion of their forces to bait me into a trap, is that it?’

’These enemies are truly ruthless!’

Wulumu gritted his teeth as he stared at the 3rd Brigade of the 2nd Expeditionary Corps, commanded by Farrete.

He had come to this conclusion after fully grasping the disparity between the Racial Alliance Army and these strange artifacts.

For the Racial Alliance Army to eliminate these strange artifacts, they would have to sacrifice one-third of their Power.

Losing that much Power right at the start of the war was a price that neither he nor the Racial Alliance Army could afford.

If they wanted to avoid such heavy losses, there was only one other option: he had to act personally.

But if he did, those figures lurking in the shadows would surely make a move against him.

’Damn it! Good thing I have clones!’

Wulumu suppressed his rage and began analyzing how to break the current stalemate. He quickly devised a solution: use his clones to deal with the artifacts.

At the same time, under the current circumstances, he could not allow the Magic Energy Giant Cannons to be destroyed by Witchcraft.

These cannons were relics left over from a past war. His people were in the process of reverse-engineering them, hoping to acquire the complete technology behind them.

If the Magic Energy Giant Cannons were destroyed now, all the technology they had managed to reverse-engineer so far would become useless.

At that point, the effort required to recover their progress would be immense.

With these two reasons stacked on top of each other, Wulumu took a deep breath and his body shimmered.

Instantly, two figures shot out from his shadow.

As soon as the two figures appeared, several of Wulumu’s Personal Guards who had been waiting by his side followed them, rushing to the front lines of the Racial Alliance Army where the Magic Energy Giant Cannons were positioned.

At the same time, these Personal Guards called to their kinsmen, who joined them in front of the Magic Energy Giant Cannons. Then, one by one, they let out howls to the sky as their bodies began to swell.

In the end, every last one of them transformed into a Magical Beast.

However, the Magical Beasts they turned into were different from common ones.

These Magical Beasts had multiple heads, and upon those heads were not beastly visages, but their own faces.

Once the transformation was complete, they let out furious roars and began to gather power.

But because they were standing in front of the Magic Energy Giant Cannons, these creatures directly absorbed the chaotic Magic Power churning before the cannons into their own bodies.

Immediately, bloody gashes appeared all over their bodies.

This was the price they paid for forcibly absorbing the chaotic Magic Power and Elements into themselves.

But to win this war, they were willing to pay such a price.

Then, beams of Magic Power, radiating a terrifying aura, were spat out by these creatures.

Just then, the second volley of Witchcraft was about to crash down on the Magic Energy Giant Cannons.

The beams of Magic Power collided with the Witchcraft, and in an instant, the entire world was engulfed in white light.

When the white light faded, everyone saw that the clash of Magic Power had sent the Magic Energy Giant Cannons and the creatures shielding them flying.

The creatures and the cannons crashed to the ground, gouging one deep crater after another.

"How naive, thinking you can block Witchcraft from War Witchcraft Artifacts with your flesh and blood."

Farrete watched the creatures, a cold arc forming on his lips.

Then, Farrete ordered his forces to pull back, revealing several more Star Realm Battleships behind them.

These Star Realm Battleships had been silently absorbing Magic Power from the surrounding space since the very beginning of the battle.

Now, they had absorbed enough Magic Power.

Then, the Star Realm Battleships unleashed Morning Star Witchcraft.

The moment the Morning Star Witchcraft appeared, all the chaotic Magic Power and Elements in the area between the Star Realm Battleships and the Magic Energy Giant Cannons vanished, completely absorbed by the Morning Star Witchcraft and becoming part of it.

Now, this Morning Star Witchcraft rushed toward the Racial Alliance Army.

On the ground, the mere shockwaves generated by the Morning Star Witchcraft instantly pulverized the Magic Energy Giant Cannons and the creatures who had turned into Magical Beasts to block the earlier attack, reducing them to the finest dust.

Then, the fully formed Witchcraft shot toward the Racial Alliance Army at extreme Speed.

"How is this possible?" Wulumu’s eyes widened to their absolute limit as he stared at the Morning Star Witchcraft.

He could clearly feel that the Power of this Witchcraft was on the same level as his own.

And that was what shocked Wulumu the most.

These enemies could actually unleash Power on his level using nothing but those strange contraptions.

In that case, weren’t they destined to lose this war against the otherworldly invaders?
