Wizard: Grinding to Lord of Truth
Chapter 282 - 284: To Hold the Emperor Hostage to Command the Vassals
Chapter 282: Chapter 284: To Hold the Emperor Hostage to Command the Vassals
"That startled me!"
Hearing that Klein wasn’t in the Cosmic Sea World, Sokra heaved a long sigh of relief.
"Is everything alright?"
Andre asked curiously, watching as Sokra’s expression shifted continuously.
Sokra looked at Andre’s curious expression and sighed with resignation.
"I suppose you’ve never experienced what it’s like to be diligently tutored by a teacher with an overabundance of energy."
Sokra said to Andre with a wry smile.
Hearing this, Andre was instantly reminded of his previous life, of the days he’d spent working under a professor who had just been approved to supervise master’s students.
Those days were nothing but research and results.
In just one year, he’d started getting gray hairs.
"Back then, my senior, Voltaire, and I were chosen by our master to be his first disciples."
Sokra looked at Andre and continued,
"At the time, our master had only just become a Morning Star Wizard, and his passion for the pursuit of Truth was... intense."
"As a result, we, the first batch of his disciples, suffered terribly."
"Every day, we were either running experiments, helping him capture Magical Beasts, or purchasing materials."
"Sometimes, we even had to act as test subjects for the new Witchcraft and Potions he invented.
"During that time, he really put us, his first disciples, through the wringer."
"To this day, I still have a... particular reaction whenever I’m reminded of that time."
Sokra said to Andre, his smile wry.
Andre listened to Sokra’s tale, and it all clicked. He nodded in understanding.
’This is PTSD!’
PTSD is the common name for post-traumatic stress disorder. The term originally came from soldiers who had seen battle.
Later, as more and more people began presenting with similar symptoms, it was studied by scientists and psychologists.
"Post-war stress syndrome" was eventually renamed Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
’For my own grandmaster to give his disciples PTSD... it just goes to show how fanatical he must have been in his pursuit of Truth back then.’
’Good thing my own master isn’t like my grandmaster,’
Andre thought with a sigh of relief. He was constantly reading as well, but that was because he chose to.
Being forced to read is a completely different experience.
"Alright, it’s time for you to return to the War Mother Ship."
"You’ve become a Child of the World, and the academy is in the process of conquering this world. It’s time for that status of yours to fulfill its purpose."
Sokra’s mind drifted back to those early days after Klein had accepted him as a disciple. His expression suddenly changed as he looked at Andre and said,
"Fulfill its purpose?"
Andre’s eyes widened as he stared at Sokra.
He understood what Sokra meant, of course, but could such a plan possibly succeed?
’Even if I reveal my identity as the Child of the World, the members of the Racial Alliance Army will just stop fighting? You’ve got to be kidding me!’
"Don’t worry. Once you truly experience what it means to be a Child of the World, you’ll understand just how much power that status holds."
"All you have to do is stand before the Racial Alliance Army and reveal your identity, and they will surrender on the spot."
"Then this battle won’t have to continue."
"The sooner you return to the War Mother Ship and play your part, the fewer losses the academy and the native species will suffer during this conquest."
Sokra said, looking at Andre.
"I’m a visitor from the Outer World who just happened to obtain the status of Child of the World."
"That much is true, but don’t you think you’re being a little too optimistic?"
"I just have to stand there and they’ll just accept me?"
Andre looked at Sokra, utterly speechless.
At that moment, Andre found it hard to follow Sokra’s logic.
But thanks to the memories from his previous life, he knew exactly what this maneuver of Sokra’s was called.
’Controlling the emperor to command the dukes.’
And now, he was the Child of the World of the Cosmic Sea World. In the parlance of his past life, that made him the "Son of Heaven" here.
That kind of strategy was all well and good in his previous life, a world without any supernatural powers.
But this was the Cosmic Sea World, and he wasn’t the only Child of the World here.
Before he came to the Cosmic Sea World, Red-haired Klein had told him.
There was someone in the Cosmic Sea World whose Realm was advancing at an incredible speed.
That person was the Cosmic Sea World’s own Child of the World.
’Two Children of the World, existing at the same time!’
It would be one thing if both Children of the World were native lifeforms, born and bred in the Cosmic Sea World.
But he was an invader, an external enemy.
’And you want me to pull a stunt like that? Are you out of your mind?!’
’I don’t want to end up as a historical footnote, the false emperor struck down by the true one.’
If that really happened, he’d be too ashamed to ever show his face again.
"What are you worried about?"
Sokra asked at once, seeing the troubled expression on Andre’s face.
"I remember there’s already a Child of the World in the Cosmic Sea World, isn’t there?"
"With him leading them, why would the various races of the Cosmic Sea World ever listen to me?"
Andre voiced his doubts.
"You don’t need to worry about that. Once you’re back on the War Mother Ship, the Dean will personally take action and eliminate him."
Hearing that this was Andre’s concern, Sokra waved his hand dismissively.
"The Dean himself will take action?"
Andre found Sokra’s words hard to believe.
"A Child of the World who is of no use to the academy, and in fact, stands against it... what need is there for such a person to exist in this world?"
Sokra said to Andre, his tone casual and dismissive.
"Alright." Hearing this, Andre nodded.
Since Sokra had put it that way, Andre had no reason left to refuse.
"But how am I supposed to get back?" Andre asked, glancing to the side.
He knew Sokra could take him back to the War Mother Ship.
But Sokra had come to the Cosmic Sea World in response to a distress call from a Star Realm Battleship.
His primary mission was to assist the damaged Interstellar Battleships, not to escort him back to the War Mother Ship.
The Morning Sky wasn’t with him, and with his current level of power, he couldn’t possibly break through the world barrier to get back to the War Mother Ship on his own.
"I’ll take you back. The other matters aren’t as urgent."
As he spoke, Sokra placed a hand on Andre’s shoulder.
Then, a silver-white light appeared before them.
The silver-white light expanded steadily, eventually forming a tunnel.
On the other side of the tunnel was the War Mother Ship.
"Let’s go."
Sokra nodded at Andre, then led him into the War Mother Ship.
Upon returning to the War Mother Ship, Andre was taken directly by Sokra to the ship’s Central Control Room.
There, all kinds of data were being continuously transmitted from the fleet of Star Realm Battleships to the War Mother Ship.
The Wizards aboard the War Mother Ship were constantly making adjustments based on this data, allowing the Expeditionary Corps to confront their enemies in a more rational and efficient manner.
