Wizard: Grinding to Lord of Truth

Chapter 58: Concocting Potions

Chapter 58: Chapter 58: Concocting Potions

’Ever since I started trading, it’s like I’ve become a different person—extremely calm and rational, completely unlike my old self. Could it be that after I crossed over, the original owner of this body became my business spirit?’

Andre took a piece of Honeycomb from his Storage Ring, broke it in half, and put one piece in Potato’s mouth and the other in his own, pondering the change in his personality when doing business.

Before he crossed over, he had never been good at business. He’d even make mistakes when helping with his family’s bookkeeping; a problem that was only resolved with the advent of smart devices.

But ever since he crossed over, he had become extremely sensitive to the price of any item.

’This must be the original owner’s Talent. A sensitivity to numbers is a very important Talent on the path of a Wizard. I suppose I’ve really inherited his legacy!’

Andre shook his head and took a deep breath, then took out his haul for the day from the Ring.

After taking out his gains, Andre tossed all the miscellaneous items he’d used for cover into another Storage Ring.

Andre stored the ores in a Spatial Bag.

As for the Magic Plants, Andre placed them on the table. Then, he took out the potion-making tools he had bought from his Storage Ring and began the preparatory work for making Magic Potions: grinding, crushing, extracting, and so on.

Soon, Andre had extracted all the active ingredients from the Magic Plants and placed them into a series of test tubes, where they glowed with different lusters.

’Now, let’s see which Magic Potions I can make.’

After finishing the extractions, Andre opened a book and cross-referenced the Magic Plants he now had on hand, including those he had looted from the six Black Wizards he killed.

After checking, he found he could make a total of six types of Potions.

Among them, the Calm Potion and the Blood Rage Potion were the most valuable.

The two Potions were worth 50,000 and 120,000 Magic Stones per vial, respectively.

’Calm Potion. This Potion can restore a Wizard’s depleted Power of the Mind and also has a healing effect on Soul injuries, but the effect is very slight.’

’The Blood Rage Potion is also known as the Frenzy Potion or the Desperate Potion. After consuming it, one can temporarily burn their life force to increase their Power by one to three times.’

’At the same time, it has a very obvious drawback. The life-burning effect persists until the Potion wears off. However, since it’s a Potion used in life-or-death situations, its value remains high.’

Andre read aloud the descriptions of both potions from the book.

After a moment of thought, Andre decided to make the Blood Rage Potion.

As for why he didn’t consider making the Calm Potion, Andre had his reasons.

’The expedition is in nine years, and during it, no one knows what kind of enemies they’ll face.’

’Therefore, everyone participating in the expedition will definitely want as many life-saving items as possible. Otherwise, those Witchcraft Tools I had wouldn’t have sold out so quickly.’

Having made his decision, Andre began to craft the Blood Rage Potion. The first step was its main ingredient, the Explosive Flower.

In the past, the Explosive Flower was extremely hard to find on the market.

This was because the Explosive Flower was not only the main ingredient for the Blood Rage Potion and the Fury Potion, but also a spell component for a certain type of Witchcraft. Thus, it was very expensive and rare.

But thankfully, one of the six Black Wizards had "contributed" twelve of them. These twelve flowers were enough for Andre to make twenty-four Blood Rage Potions.

That was, of course, assuming the Blood Rage Potion didn’t explode during the crafting process.

’When the Wizards of the past first discovered the Explosive Flower, they didn’t study or handle it properly, and a good seven or eight of them were blown to bits.’

Andre took a box containing the Explosive Flowers out of his Storage Ring.

After opening the lid, Andre finally saw the Explosive Flower itself. The moment he opened it, a pungent smell hit him.

’COUGH, COUGH... My admiration for the Wizards who pioneered Magic Botany and Magic Potion Science just keeps growing. How did they ever figure out how to use these Magic Plants?’

Andre opened a drawer under the table, pulled out two strips of cloth, and stuffed them into his nostrils to block out the smell of the Explosive Flower.

Once his nose was plugged, Andre turned his gaze to the Explosive Flower. The flower was entirely crimson. Under the lamplight, some of its powder began to drift into the air, carried by the currents in the room.

’No time to waste! I have to start now!’

Andre’s face turned green when he saw the powder.

This powder was the very reason the Explosive Flower exploded, which was why it was also known as explosive powder.

Once the concentration of the powder in an enclosed space reached a critical level, even the slightest bit of warmth would cause it to detonate with a violent BOOM.

Andre quickly put on gloves, picked up a pair of tweezers, and placed the Explosive Flower into a dark-silver liquid.

Once the Explosive Flower was fully submerged in the liquid, the powder that had been spreading through the air began to gradually disappear.

’First, I need to soak the Explosive Flower in Ice Crystal Juice for two days before I can proceed to the next step.’

Andre followed the instructions for the Blood Rage Potion in the book, beginning the process step by step. Now that the Explosive Flower was being treated, he used the time to process the remaining ingredients.

’Celestial Frost Flower and Earth-Frozen Fruit. These are the other two main ingredients for the Blood Rage Potion.’

Andre took out the Celestial Frost Flower and the Earth-Frozen Fruit one by one and began to process them.

Although these two ingredients weren’t as volatile as the Explosive Flower, they weren’t easy to handle either. The slightest carelessness, and the chill within them could freeze a person into a block of ice.

Andre carefully finished processing the two ingredients and soaked them in their corresponding liquids to weaken their internal Power, seeking to achieve a balance between the three main components.

’If the balance between the three main ingredients isn’t achieved, then the concoction of this Blood Rage Potion can be declared a failure.’

’Solemn warning: In the event of a failure, the failed Potion must be thrown away within ten seconds. Otherwise, you will face the full impact of the Potion’s explosion, which has the force equivalent to a Level 1 Witchcraft, Flaming Fist.’

Reading the warning about crafting the Blood Rage Potion in the book, Andre suddenly felt a pang of regret. He had only looked at its selling price and forgotten to check the difficulty of making it.

’Greed can really get you killed!’

Andre smacked himself on the forehead. This served as a lesson to himself.

None of the potions he had concocted before came with such a severe warning, so he had overlooked the fact that some potions were extremely dangerous to create.
