Chapter 62: Helper
Chapter 62: Chapter 62: Helper
"So, I’ll need to conduct a massive number of experiments—from Demon Patterns, to materials, to Witchcraft, and finally, to myself and my Ladder of Truth."
Andre nodded, tying his concept back to what he’d said before.
"Yes. I hope to see the day you succeed."
Radak said nothing more to dissuade Andre. Instead, he handed over the Blood Rage Potion. Andre took the vial, carefully sealed it with a stopper, and just like that, the very first Blood Rage Potion he had ever created was complete, ready to be sold.
"If you run into anything you don’t understand during your experiments, feel free to ask me anytime."
Radak nodded, and his form vanished from before Andre.
The moment Radak vanished, Andre breathed a sigh of relief.
Just a moment ago, he had sensed a profound lack of confidence in Radak’s expression. Left with no choice, he had to lay out all of his half-formed ideas.
But after explaining it, Andre realized his concept was actually feasible.
However, as the concept became more refined, the problems he faced grew even larger.
This was because it involved a great deal of knowledge he had never encountered before. It meant he would need to spend a long time immersed in the Witchcraft Inheritance Hall to refine his plan and solve the problems his concept presented.
Fortunately, he had an assistant; he wasn’t facing these problems alone.
"System."
At Andre’s call, the system panel slowly unfolded before him.

[Truth] 432%
Andre looked at his current stats and nodded.
He hadn’t stagnated during his four months in the Black and White Forest; he had been growing constantly.
First, his Realm had reached the peak for a High Level Wizard Apprentice. Once his experiment was complete and he forged his Ladder of Truth, he could become a Level 1 Wizard.
Second, after living for four months in the freezing cold of the Black and White Forest, his Constitution had also risen.
But most important was the Truth he had stockpiled in the System.
He had never used any of this Truth, no matter what dangers he faced or how battered his body became.
Instead, he had steadily increased the amount of Truth in the System by reading books and deconstructing Witchcraft.
He was saving it all to push himself through the most difficult stage of forging his Ladder of Truth, to accomplish something that Radak and the others deemed impossible.
Now, Andre had to restrain himself every day from touching that stat, to avoid wasting all the Truth he had accumulated.
’432%... That’s still a bit low.’
Andre stared intently at his Truth reserves. In his ideal scenario, that number would be at 1000%.
But the amount of Truth stored in the System had stopped growing. He had already finished reading the books he took from the academy, the ones from the six Black Wizards he killed, and those he had traded for with potions at the settlement.
’What I need most now are books on Elements and books on fusion.’
Andre put the Blood Rage Potion away and returned to his room to continue brewing potions.
Beyond the knowledge recorded in the Witchcraft Inheritance Hall, he needed far more information to increase his reserves of Truth in the System.
’I should be able to trade some low-end potions for copies of books.’
Andre began brewing a second Blood Rage Potion. This time, he slowed his pace, taking three days to complete it.
At the same time, he also brewed some low-end potions he was proficient with, like Strength Potions, Gale Potions, and Healing Potions.
These were all standard potions that Wizards kept on hand. Andre had taken the opportunity while brewing the Blood Rage Potion to make a batch of them.
These potions would be his main products for trading for books and knowledge.
The Blood Rage Potion, on the other hand, was for breaking into the market and making a name for himself.
’Still not enough.’ Andre shook his head, looking at the dozen or so potions on the table.
In a place like the Black and White Forest, which was starved for Alchemists, these potions would have been incredibly sought-after.
Here at the academy, however, he would have to sell them cheaply to move them quickly. Otherwise, he’d just be waiting around for customers.
Still, people could trade books for these low-level potions, so he shouldn’t have trouble finding takers in the short term.
"Oh, you’re brewing potions?"
Just then, a head poked into the room, watching the ever-busy Andre. He placed the materials he was holding into a separator and turned to look at Selena, his expression instantly souring.
"Why are you here again?"
Andre’s tone was full of resignation. Since entering the academy, he had never seen anyone with as much free time as Selena.
Everyone else was either at the Task Hall accepting missions to earn Magic Stones or out gathering materials they needed.
Even the most idle students would usually be in their rooms, researching Truth and Witchcraft.
But Selena? Andre saw her skipping around the academy every day.
"I don’t have anything else to do! After I finish my daily training, I naturally have to find something to pass the time."
Selena slipped into Andre’s room. Looking at the vials on the table, she would occasionally reach out and poke one.
"I never would’ve guessed you study Pharmacy, too!"
After a quick look around, Selena turned back to stare at Andre as if he were some kind of monster.
Andre majored in Demon Pattern Study, then picked up Magic Botany as a minor, and now he was proficient in Pharmacy. If you gave him a bit more time, he’d probably start researching Witchcraft Artifacts, too.
"You think I wanted to delve into Magic Potions? It’s only because Farrete dumped me in the Black and White Forest."
"Back then, I didn’t have anything with me except for what was in my Storage Ring."
"To survive, I had no choice but to rely on my skills in Demon Pattern Study and Magic Botany to delve into Pharmacy, just to earn enough to get by in the Black and White Forest."
Andre pressed a button, and the separator, powered by a Magic Stone, began to process the ingredients.
"Oh, I see... Say, have you seen Quint lately?"
Selena nodded, then abruptly changed the subject to Quint, whom neither of them had seen since they left the Secret Realm.
