Chapter 105: Chapter 94: 3rd Body Refinement and Star Dragon Contract
The Transformation occurred from the inside out. He could hear his bones cracking—like bamboo shooting up—as they thickened, densified, and rearranged their microscopic structures. Originally, his bones were like a block of Ordinary pig iron; now, they were like repeatedly forged fine steel. Their density, toughness, and other attributes had increased, allowing them to withstand far greater Power.
Next came the Transformation of his muscles. The muscle fibers were torn apart, rearranged, and reorganized. The newly formed fibers were finer, denser, and more elastic, storing stronger explosive Power and endurance than before. His physique did not bulk up. Instead, he grew slightly leaner, yet every inch of his muscles felt like compressed springs.
The Transformation of his skin was the least obvious. The Water-Fire Internal Refining left an invisible film on its surface, acting as a kind of Shield. Chen Shang soaked in the Dragon Blood Pool for three days and three nights. The Water-Fire Internal Refining model continuously took effect, greatly increasing the efficiency of his Body Refinement.
On the evening of the third day, Chen Shang walked out of the pool. There was not a single scorch mark on his skin, and his complexion had changed from its original ivory white to a faint bronze. The Energy of the Dragon Blood had seeped into the deepest layers of his skin. His muscle definition was smoother than before, making him look like a meticulously carved sculpture where every muscle was perfectly proportioned.
He put on his robe and stretched his joints. CRACKLE, POP! Crisp sounds echoed from within his body. With just a slight clench of his fist, he could feel the Power roaring through him.
Sorin stood by the pool, arms crossed as he watched him. "How much did your Constitution increase?"
Chen Shang sensed his condition for a moment. "It increased by about 19 points. The effect is not bad." This Body Refinement had allowed him to cross the one-hundred-point threshold.
Sorin nodded and offered a brief "Congratulations" before adding, "His Majesty the Dragon Emperor wishes to see you."
Chen Shang paused, momentarily stunned. "The Dragon Emperor? Wants to see me?"
"Yes. Come with me!" Sorin turned and walked away, and Chen Shang quickly followed.
After leaving the Dragon Blood Hall, Sorin led Chen Shang on a wild ascent. They soared upward, piercing through the clouds and the atmosphere, before finally stepping into the Void. In a place that appeared completely empty, there was actually a thin Barrier. Before Chen Shang could properly observe it with his Eye of True Sight, Sorin had already pulled him through it with a single leap.
For a split second, Chen Shang thought he was standing in heaven. This was truly beyond the heavens—or rather, it was a Divine Kingdom Space. The ground beneath their feet was transparent, revealing the sea of clouds and the earth below. Above them stretched a deep Purple dome, inlaid with countless stars. The stars on the dome moved slowly, gliding along some ancient trajectory. Occasionally, a shooting star streaked past, trailing a long Tail.
The buildings were silver-white, embedded within the Void. They lacked sharp edges or straight lines; every structure was fluid, as if sculpted by the wind. In the distance, a High Tower stood taller than all the other buildings at the center of the dome. Its body was translucent, with light flowing within it. It looked like an inverted tree, its roots piercing the dome and its canopy hanging toward the ground.
"This is the Dragon Emperor’s Divine Kingdom?" Chen Shang asked in surprise. However, remembering that the Dragon Emperor of this Plane had signed a Contract with the laboratory, he wasn’t too worried.
Upon entering the High Tower, they saw a humanoid creature coiled upon a throne. His eyes were like two burning stars, and Gold light spilled from his eye sockets, illuminating the surrounding floor.
"Chen Shang," the Dragon Emperor spoke. His voice wasn’t loud, yet the entire Divine Kingdom resonated with it. The stars on the dome flickered in sync with his words.
Chen Shang bowed respectfully. "Greetings to His Majesty the Dragon Emperor."
The Dragon Emperor’s gaze fell upon him, as heavy as two mountains pressing down. But Chen Shang did not flinch; he simply stood there calmly. In the vision of the Eye of True Sight, the entry tags on the Dragon Emperor were densely packed. Blue, Purple, orange, and Gold... They overlapped layer upon layer, like an ancient tree adorned with countless years of history.
He attempted to extract them, but naturally, he failed. However, the Dragon Emperor showed no reaction. At this moment, Chen Shang knew that his Golden Finger was still effective; it was simply he himself who was lacking.
The corners of the Dragon Emperor’s mouth twitched up slightly, though it was unclear whether he was satisfied or amused. He withdrew his gaze, turned his head slightly, and spoke into the mist behind him, "Come out."
A soft, tinkling laughter echoed from the mist. Then, a petite figure ran out, her silver-white hair fluttering in the wind and her Gold eyes shining like two stars. Ithirandir, wearing a silver-white dress, ran barefoot up to Chen Shang and tilted her head up to look at him.
"Chen! You’re here! Why didn’t you tell me?" her voice rang out, as crisp as ever.
Chen Shang looked down at her. The little girl who had only reached his waist a few years ago had grown quite a bit; she now almost reached his shoulders. Her silver-white hair was braided into a loose plait that hung over her chest, the tips curling slightly.
"Sorry, I thought you were still sleeping." Chen Shang spread his hands helplessly. The Dragon Race spent a long time sleeping during their infancy, so he generally avoided disturbing Ithirandir.
Princess Di Long glanced back at the Dragon Emperor, who gave a subtle nod. She turned back and tugged on Chen Shang’s sleeve. "Alright, I’ll take you for a tour around the Divine Kingdom. You can see lots and lots of stars here."
Chen Shang allowed her to pull him deeper into the Divine Kingdom. Behind them, the Dragon Emperor’s gaze lingered on his back for a few seconds before he withdrew it and closed his eyes. Up on the dome of the Divine Kingdom, a shooting star streaked past, its long Tail taking a long time to dissipate.
The Divine Kingdom was like a living palace. Ithirandir tugged at his sleeve as they walked across the crystal floor. Beneath their feet lay a bottomless sea of clouds, and above them spun a swirling galaxy.
"Over there is the Star Language Hall," she said, pointing to a translucent domed building where points of light moved slowly across the roof. "My father sometimes speaks with the Elders of our race there. I don’t like going; it’s too boring."
