Chapter 106: Chapter 94: 3rd Body Refinement and the Star Dragon’s Contract
"That is the library," she said, pointing to another building that resembled an inverted mountain peak. "There are so many books inside. I used to sleep there a lot when I was little."
As she spoke, she occasionally glanced back at Chen Shang to make sure he was still following.
"Can I go take a look later?" Chen Shang was very interested in this.
"Of course." Ithirandir led him past the Observatory, the plantation, and a certain Divine Power River.
A plant called the Star Flower was blooming there. Ithirandir plucked one and handed it to Chen Shang. "For you. Star Flowers are very hard to cultivate and only bloom once a year. Take it back and plant it in your laboratory. It needs moonlight to survive."
Chen Shang took the flower and stored it in his Space Book. In the distance, the star river flowed silently across the sky, and the petals of the Star Flower shimmered with a silvery-white light under the moonlight.
After wandering around, Chen Shang finally arrived at the Dragon Race’s library. Ithirandir didn’t like reading, so she left Chen Shang there alone.
He browsed through it roughly. It contained the history of this Plane, the development of the Dragon Race, and a significant amount of Dragon Language Magic...
"These are some books we wrote imitating the Wizard inheritance, but unfortunately, the brats of the Dragon Race don’t like to study. They prefer to fight relying on their Bloodlines and instincts."
A deep, resonant voice suddenly rang out. Chen Shang turned around and saw the Dragon Emperor standing behind him. He spoke up, "The Dragon Race can pass down knowledge through their Bloodline alone, which is already stronger than the vast majority of races in the Endless Star Sea. You belong to an absolutely dominant race."
The Dragon Emperor shook His head. "No matter how strong the talent passed down through the Bloodline is, it is merely the wisdom of our predecessors. Without learning, it is difficult to develop our own things, let alone add them to the Bloodline to be passed down."
His gaze fell upon Chen Shang, pressing down like two mountains, as if He were scrutinizing him.
"Chen Shang, are you willing to sign a Contract with Ithirandir? An equal partnership Contract."
Chen Shang was stunned. He looked into those golden eyes, slowly recovered his wits, and bowed slightly. "There’s no need for you to seek me out for such a thing, is there? I am just a Second Level Apprentice."
The Dragon Emperor didn’t answer immediately. The golden flames in His eyes danced briefly. "But you are one of the most outstanding Apprentices of Star Fall in recent years, and you excel in Blood Runes."
He paused, His golden eyes fixed on Chen Shang. "I have been keeping an eye on you. Otherwise, did you think the Dragon Blood Crystal was just given away randomly?"
Chen Shang fell silent for a moment. Princess Di Long had given him the Dragon Blood Crystal several years ago, right when he was about to participate in the First Level Apprentice assessment.
"No matter how excellent an Apprentice is, they are still just an Apprentice. If you want to find a qualified collaborator, you could grab them by the handful in the Wizard World."
The golden flames in the Dragon Emperor’s eyes flared. "True. There are many Wizards who could cooperate with me. But very few meet my conditions. So I would rather wait for you to grow up."
"I don’t quite understand," Chen Shang shook his head.
The Dragon Emperor continued, a trace of imperceptible pride in His voice. "The Dragon Ancestor of our clan once cooperated with the founder of your laboratory. That Great Wizard developed a new Bloodline called the Star Dragon.
"Counting the generations, that Great Wizard would be Haimer Wizard’s teacher’s teacher."
Chen Shang’s mind whirred. Haimer’s teacher’s teacher, which meant the Great Wizard from the Core Layer of the Truth Continent, one of the founders of the Starfall Lineage.
His gaze falling upon Chen Shang, the Dragon Emperor added, "But now, that Great Wizard hasn’t developed new Star Dragon projects for a long time. And Haimer, as well as Haimer’s teachers... they specialize in Star Force Field Series Witchcraft and have no interest in Biological Runes.
"So they can maintain the stability of the Star Dragon Bloodline, but they cannot perform deeper developments.
"It was not easy to encounter a Wizard like you, who is skilled in Biological Runes and is about to learn Star Force Field Series Witchcraft.
"Only a Wizard like this can guarantee a basic understanding of the Star Dragon, which facilitates subsequent Bloodline stabilization and modification. If you can make a breakthrough, that would be an unexpected delight."
The Dragon Emperor’s voice stopped there, and the Divine Kingdom fell quiet.
"Isn’t this too early?" Chen Shang asked.
With a trace of admiration in His voice, the Dragon Emperor smiled. "I have read your paper on the Zhong Kui project. A Demigod Level Creation Armor.
"Do you know how long it takes for an ordinary creature to evolve to the Demigod Level? Thousands of years, tens of thousands of years. But how long does it take you to create one? Ten years? Twenty years?"
Chen Shang didn’t answer. He hadn’t expected the Dragon Emperor to have actually read his paper.
"It’s better to discuss these things early on." The Dragon Emperor put away His smile, His tone turning serious. "Otherwise, in the blink of an eye, you might become someone I can no longer fathom."
"Then the time it takes for you to blink is far too long," Chen Shang joked, then turned serious. "But I apologize, I will not sign any Contract with my Soul."
Signing a Soul Contract was not something to be done lightly.
In ancient times, brutal Wizards struck out in all directions, conquering worlds and turning many indigenous natives into slaves.
One of their most important methods was to enslave the other party’s Soul.
This method was simple, straightforward, and highly effective. Creatures enslaved by the Soul could absolutely never mount any resistance.
But this method had a flaw. The quota for Soul enslavement was limited, which was related to the Soul strength of both parties.
Later, with deeper research, Wizards discovered that enslaving other creatures actually brought a burden to their own Souls, affecting the speed of their evolution... Of course, the burden of an equal Contract might be somewhat smaller.
Chen Shang pursued Mighty Power attributed solely to himself, so he was unwilling to add even the slightest resistance to his path, even if Ithirandir might become very strong.
Golden Crow, Surtr, Luna Xiya—he hadn’t signed with any of them.

**Author’s Note:**
A few free words.
Friends, this is a 5,000-word mega Chapter. 10,000 words a day really isn’t short or weak; it’s just that I can’t show it all in the title.
Moreover, I’m not padding the plot. I’ve been steadily advancing it, and even skimmed over some parts. I really planned an outline to control the pacing.
Finally, thank you all for your support.
