Chapter 152: Chapter 110: Observing the Half-Plane and Gourd Little Vajra

Regardless, Amy’s confidence had greatly increased. She nodded heavily. "I’ll do my best!"

On the day of the assessment, Chen Shang escorted Amy to the Teleportation Plaza. Carrying a backpack stuffed with pottery jars, Amy cradled the Red Plague Ghost in her arms and clutched her identity card tightly. She took a deep breath and blended into the crowd.

Up ahead, the examiner began to announce the rules... Then, the new batch of apprentices was sent into the assessment world.

"Hmm, a Plague Ghost disaster... Let’s hope there are some among the apprentices who excel at countering curses, or else it’s going to be a real mess." Chen Shang silently prayed for this year’s batch of apprentices.

Curses were extremely troublesome. He still vividly remembered his first time fighting a prospective apprentice. Even though he had neatly killed his opponent, the curse that erupted right before the enemy’s death had nearly taken him out in return. That incident had left a deep impression on him.

Chen Shang stood rooted to the spot, watching as Amy vanished into the teleportation array. He lingered for a moment before turning back to the Recording Chamber.

Several days later.

The Starfall Laboratory issued an announcement that prompted Chen Shang to pause his current work. He had been at the recording platform, repairing runes on Zhong Kui, when his crystal plate vibrated. A pinned message popped up on the screen.

"Starfall Laboratory Third Level Wizard Promotion Observation Invitation." The sender was the Starfall Laboratory, and the title was written in bold, gold font. Chen Shang clicked on it and quickly skimmed through.

The contents revealed that the Starfall Laboratory was about to birth a new Third Level Wizard: Ignatius. He would be conducting his Half-Plane birth ceremony in three days. When the time came, the laboratory would open the Void observation platform for any interested members to watch.

After signing up, Chen Shang read the announcement from beginning to end once more to fully understand the situation. He knew what a Half-Plane meant, and he had seen one before. The very ground beneath his feet was a finished product built years ago, but he had never witnessed how a Half-Plane was born with his own eyes.

Attached to the announcement was a brief introduction to Third Level Wizards. It was likely an educational piece meant to give observers a clearer idea of what they were about to see. Chen Shang read on carefully.

The core of a First Level Wizard lies in the fusion of rune collapse. Using specialized spiritual power as a trigger, it causes the core of the energy array inside the body to collapse instantly, forming an "Origin Rune." This rune acts like a miniature star. It continuously fuses to generate massive amounts of energy, thoroughly transforming the body. From then on, the lifespan of the physical body becomes infinite, but the spirit has a limit, typically ranging from a few million to over ten million years. If a breakthrough is not achieved by the time this limit is reached, the soul will slowly dissipate into the Void.

(Note: The physical strength of creatures at the same level within the Endless Star Sea is only comparable to that of an Elemental Mage. They possess their own racial traits, but they lack these unique characteristics of a wizard. For instance, a Tier One Dragon Race has a physical strength equivalent to a traditional First Level Elemental Mage. It possesses the lifespan and Dragon’s Might characteristic of its race, but it does not have the traits of a wizard.)

A Second Level Wizard, on the other hand, involves constructing a Rune Mansion. Using the Origin Rune as a foundation, a complex, three-dimensional rune structure is built—such as a high tower, a World Tree, or something similar. This structure can transform the chaos energy of the Origin Rune into specific, stable forms of power, such as the Eternal Flame, Absolute Zero Realm, Magic Spring, kinetic energy conversion, and more.

A Third Level Wizard is capable of triggering Law Resonance. The Rune Mansion will resonate with a certain fundamental law in the outside world. Spellcasting is no longer about driving energy, but about leveraging laws. The lifespan limit will break through to tens of millions, or even hundreds of millions of years. At the same time, they become qualified to bear the birth of a Half-Plane. This is not the invasion of an existing plane, but the construction of a Half-Plane from scratch.

First, one has to find a stable area within the Void. Then, they need a landmass of a suitable size, figure out how to transport that landmass to the designated location, and build facilities upon it, such as a Magic Spring, Teleportation Gates, and Defense Arrays. The birth of a Half-Plane is an incredibly grand process. During this event, one can clearly observe certain rules that are invisible on ordinary days.

Thus, this notification served as an invitation to witness that very process.

Chen Shang closed the announcement and leaned back in his chair. He glanced at Zhong Kui on the recording platform. A Demigod Body. No matter how strong it was, it remained a mechanical armor—it was not his own power. As for his own path, he had only just reached the threshold of the Repulsive and Attractive Dual Force.

Three days later.

At the Void observation platform. The platform was located at the highest point of the Starfall Half-Plane. It was a circular stone terrace suspended in the Void, over two thousand meters in diameter. There were no guardrails around it; its edge dropped off straight into endless darkness.

The platform was densely packed with people. There were apprentices, Low Tier Wizards, and even Haimer had come. He stood at the very top, gazing wordlessly into the Void.

When Chen Shang arrived, he spotted Evelyn in a corner and quickly walked over to her. There were many unfamiliar faces around him. Some were adjusting their crystal plates in preparation for recording, some were resting with their eyes closed, and others were gesturing at something in the Void.

Chen Shang stopped beside Evelyn. "When does it start?"

"Soon," Evelyn replied, pointing straight ahead.

They didn’t have to wait long before a speck of light flared up deep within the Void. A slowly expanding mass appeared before everyone’s eyes, resembling a translucent bubble. At the center of the bubble was an extremely tiny, spinning point of light. With every revolution the point of light made, the bubble expanded another degree.

At that moment, the figure of the newly advanced Third Level Wizard, Ignatius, appeared beside the bubble. Clad in a deep blue magic robe, he had pitch-black hair and a gaunt face. He stood in the Void like an unyielding tree. He did not use any defenses. His physical body was directly exposed to the Void; the constitution of a Third Level Wizard no longer needed to rely on equipment.

As if the appointed time had arrived, he reached out and pressed a hand against the surface of the bubble. The bubble violently contracted before exploding, turning into countless, scattered specks of light that dissipated into the Void.
