Chapter 162: Chapter 113: Taking Turns on Stage
With a 95% completion rate, it was about to evolve into a Purple trait. No wonder it could prematurely detonate the Water-Fire Heaven Extremes.
"Extract!" A faint blue dot of light condensed within the interface.
[Electromagnetic Shield (Blue): Stimulates a high-frequency electromagnetic field using one’s own Magic Power to form a protective barrier capable of deflecting physical and Elemental Attacks.
The barrier’s strength is directly proportional to the inputted Magic Power, granting an extra deflection effect against metallic attacks. The oscillation frequency can be actively adjusted to counter attacks of specific attributes.]
Chen Shang smiled slightly, instantly grasping the flaw in the Electromagnetic Shield.
Just now, when the three strikes of Witchcraft were detonated simultaneously, the barrier had blocked them, but Solem’s arms had gone stiff for a fraction of a second.
That was the price of electric arc feedback overload!
In other words, he hadn’t tanked the attacks head-on; he had relied on the Shield to detonate them remotely. Therefore, every strike of the Water-Fire Heaven Extremes was consuming his Magic Power while pushing his body’s endurance to its absolute limits.
With that in mind, Chen Shang brought his hands together, condensing a human-head-sized Water-Fire Heaven Extremes between his palms.
Its size was several times larger than a normal single shot. The Vortex inside spun so fast that it emitted a sharp HUM, as if he were clutching a beast about to break out of its cage.
He accelerated it, pouring all his Manipulation Power into the rotation of this Witchcraft, pushing the friction between the interfaces of Water and Fire to the absolute limit.
Solem’s expression turned stern. Sensing the threat brought by that Energy, he no longer held back and fully activated his Bloodline.
Blue arcs of electricity surged from his body, condensing behind him into a blurry, ten-meter-tall Giant phantom—the projection of the Thunder Titan.
Moreover, his eyes turned pure white, and his hair stood completely on end. Even the air was ionized, prompting some in the audience to stand up in awe.
"Thunderous Collapse Fist!"
Solem threw a punch, and a beam of lightning as thick as a bucket shot out from his fist, lunging straight at Chen Shang.
The speed of the lightning was too fast for the naked eye to track. Wherever the beam passed, the air was ionized into plasma, leaving behind a scorched black trail.
His tactic was effective. Chen Shang’s Water-Fire Heaven Extremes was not yet complete, and the lightning beam would hit him in less than 0.3 seconds.
However, the Eye of Truth caught a faint gap within the beam. The lightning was not uniform. At the edge of the beam was a narrow slit, less than five centimeters wide—the trough of the electric arc’s oscillation.
That trough existed for less than 0.1 seconds, but it was fully exposed in the vision of the Eye of Truth.
Thus, Chen Shang dodged sideways, letting the beam brush past his body. The thermal insulation layer of the Frost Mage Robe curled from the intense heat as he successfully evaded the attack.
At the same time, the construction of the Water-Fire Heaven Extremes was completed between his palms. The Eye of Truth locked onto the heart of Solem’s Thunder Titan projection, which was the hub of all of Solem’s Magic Power output.
"Water-Fire Heaven Extremes!"
He detonated the Witchcraft right in front of his palms, then constrained all the explosive Energy directly ahead, forcing it to impact in a single direction. It formed a blue-and-white beam no more than twenty centimeters in diameter.
Solem erected his Defense again, but this time it failed to block as he had hoped. The shockwave pierced right through the electric arc barrier.
Because Chen Shang had manipulated the frequency of the blast to perfectly overlap with the barrier’s oscillation trough, Solem’s Thunder Titan projection was torn apart like wet paper in the face of the shockwave.
The Giant phantom first had a hole punched through its chest. Then, cracks spread outward from the hole. Finally, the entire projection shattered into a sky full of Blue points of light, scattering over the arena.
Solem himself was sent flying by the shockwave. He crashed heavily against the protective shield before sliding to the ground, his fingers still twitching slightly.
He struggled to stand up, but the muscles in his entire body spasmed due to the backlash of Magic Power. His knees buckled, and he fell back down.
The referee glanced at Solem, confirming he could no longer continue fighting, and raised the Crystal Plate.
"Chen Shang wins."
The audience erupted. Some stood up to applaud, some marveled at the terrifying multiplier of the twenty-fold leverage, and others lowered their heads, pondering how to counter it.
Evelyn, who had already finished off her opponent, watched from the sidelines. Her gaze held more Concentration than usual as she lowered her head, wondering if her Divine Sword could take out Chen Shang.
On the arena, Solem’s hair was still standing on end, but the electric arcs had completely dissipated. Chen Shang reached out and hauled him up from the ground.
Solem patted the dust off his robe, glanced at the scorch mark on his chest left by the shockwave, and then looked at Chen Shang.
"So this is the twenty-fold leverage? Taking a direct hit from that really doesn’t feel good!"
"Actually, it tested at 20.3," Chen Shang nodded. There was nothing to hide. "However, it was quite creative of you to use Heaven and Earth here."
The Titan phantom Solem had summoned indeed utilized a Witchcraft he had once exchanged with Chen Shang—Heaven and Earth. Its power was truly quite impressive.
"Still not as good as you." Solem smiled faintly and rolled his dislocated right shoulder, producing a dull CRACK.
The two walked off the arena together, and the audience on both sides of the aisle automatically parted to make way. The sound of discussions surged from all directions.
Just as Chen Shang walked out of the corridor, Evelyn came down from the other side. "Chen, how did you align the frequency of your Water-Fire Heaven Extremes Palm Cannon with the electric arc barrier?"
"That is my exclusive secret technique, of course. How could I reveal it to you?" Chen Shang suddenly shifted his tone. "Unless you have something to trade for it!"
Evelyn raised an eyebrow. "Don’t even think about getting your hands on my Divine Sword. If we really end up facing each other, we’ll settle it in the arena!"
...
The first round of actual combat gradually came to an end, and the opponent list for the second round was soon announced.
Chen Shang glanced at his opponent—Rex, that Body Refining Stream monster with a Constitution of 185.
