Chapter 92: Chapter 90: Transaction and Completion
While Chen Shang was waiting for his assessment results, in the Celestial Net Spiritual Space, Surtr was in the middle of a battle.
The edge of a floating arena was packed with all kinds of spectators. They came from different planes and different races, but at this moment, they let out a deafening cheer in unison.
In the center of the arena, Surtr stood like a small volcano. All the stony crevices on his body were wide open, and orange flames spewed from the dark red cracks in his skin. Waves of heat radiated outward with him at the epicenter. His dark golden eyes were locked onto his opponent—a pitch-black cheetah.
The cheetah was a size larger than him, with sleek, flowing muscle lines. Its four paws touched the ground without making a single sound. The most bizarre feature was its eyes. They were silvery-white, like two pools of congealed moonlight, making anyone who glanced at them feel as if they had been frozen.
The Golden Crow hopped around on the sidelines with his wings spread wide, stomping his three talons in turn. His voice was as loud as a megaphone. "Kid, beat the crap out of it! Let it know the wrath of a Magma Giant! Burn it! Burn it!"
The spectators around the Golden Crow shot him sideways glances, and some creatures even wrapped their tentacles around their heads to block out the noise.
Surtr didn’t let himself get distracted. His breathing grew slow and heavy. With every inhale, the cracks on his body would light up, and with every exhale, flames would shoot out from the crevices of his skin.
Suddenly, he exhaled with a sharp cry. Three heads sprouted simultaneously from his shoulders and the back of his neck, while six arms extended from his sides. Although this version of the Three Heads and Six Arms was incomplete, he commanded it perfectly, gaining a significant boost in combat power.
Surtr’s three heads each had their own task: the left head monitored the cheetah’s physical movements, the center head guarded against its eyes, and the right head watched for any magic it might cast. Meanwhile, the palms of his six arms lit up with an orange glow, and six Fireballs condensed into shape at almost the exact same moment.
The cheetah made its move. Its body blurred into a black afterimage, cutting from the left side of the arena to the back right. It was so fast that before the afterimage even faded, its true body had already flanked Surtr.
Some of the spectating creatures gasped in shock.
Surtr didn’t turn around. His left and right heads simultaneously turned toward the cheetah, and the six Fireballs drew six bizarre arcs through the air. Some swung wide to attack from behind, some cut inside to block its path, some were tossed high to drop vertically, and some slithered along the ground like snakes.
A Magma Giant’s control over flame was innate.
The cheetah’s silvery-white eyes suddenly shrank. Caught slightly off guard, it forcefully twisted its body, bending its forelimbs at near-impossible angles to dodge the three frontal Fireballs. However, the other three Fireballs that had looped around perfectly sealed off its retreat.
The cheetah was hit. Flames exploded across its body, sending up billowing black smoke. It staggered, its four paws gouging deep claw marks into the ground. But it quickly steadied itself. Its shadow fur had a natural dampening effect on Elemental Attacks, drastically reducing the damage caused by the flames.
In the audience, someone shook their head, believing the outcome of the match was already decided.
The Golden Crow’s squawk grew even more piercing. "It’s not afraid of ordinary burning! Use that special fire! Think about what I taught you!"
Surtr heard him. He brought his six arms together in front of his chest, and the gazes of his three heads converged on a single point. He closed his eyes and opened them again. The flames on his body slowly shifted from orange to a pale gold. This was his first time fully utilizing the Samadhi True Flame in the Celestial Net Space.
A pale golden Fireball floated above his palms, as quiet as a frozen star, while the surrounding air began to distort from the heat.
The cheetah seemed to sense the danger. It crouched low, letting out a deep whimper. Its silvery-white eyes were fixated on that pale golden Fireball, and its four paws scratched the ground uneasily.
Surtr thrust the Fireball forward. It moved so fast that the cheetah only had time to activate its innate Pupil Technique. A stream of freezing frost shot out, colliding head-on with the Samadhi True Flame.
But in the next second, the Samadhi True Flame seemed to devour the frost. Its size barely diminished as it pressed forward, slamming viciously into the cheetah’s shoulder blade.
The highly oscillating flame began to dance. The cheetah’s body trembled violently, its silvery-white eyes flickering before it instantly dissolved into a phantom bubble and dissipated.
In the end, the center of the arena was completely empty, save for a few faint golden sparks lingering in Surtr’s palms.
The audience erupted. People were screaming and applauding, the waves of cheers rising higher and higher.
The Golden Crow flew directly above the arena, screaming at the top of his lungs, "He won! He won! Did you see that? That’s my underling!"
Surtr jumped down from the arena. Retracting his Three Heads and Six Arms, he reverted to his Magma Giant cub form. Before he could even speak to the Golden Crow, the Crystal Plate hanging from his chest vibrated.
Surtr looked down. It was a friend request. The applicant’s note read: "Your flame is quite interesting. I’d like to have a chat with your master. Victor, First Level Wizard of the Mechanical Throne."
Surtr blinked his dark golden eyes and handed the Crystal Plate to the Golden Crow. The Golden Crow leaned in for a look, his feathers immediately fluffing up. "A First Level Wizard? Don’t accept it just yet. Let’s head back and ask the boss first."
The assessment results came out quickly. A system notification showed that Chen Shang had passed the test, accompanied by a link to a golden emblem. He clicked the link. The emblem flashed briefly before merging into his identity information. From then on, a new line appeared on his Identity Card: Official Member of the Elemental Storm Association.
