Wizard: Scamming a Demon God
Chapter 547 - 390: Divine Abomination? Divine Race
Chapter 547: Chapter 390: Divine Abomination? Divine Race
Tough luck for whoever took him!
Fortunately, after years of refinement, he had finally severed all connections between himself and the boy. That way, even if the boy was "detonated," it wouldn’t trace back to him.
He wondered which "lucky" idiot had taken the boy away...
He chuckled at the thought, then turned back to adjust the ritual before him. The moment he did, what little good mood he had instantly vanished. The creation of the Divine Abomination was doomed to fail—that much was certain. Even though he had fine-tuned the ritual and it wasn’t theoretically supposed to produce a Divine Abomination, it would fail all the same.
He had run similar experiments several times before, none of which had succeeded. The Gods’ prohibition on this thing was simply too absolute. Even the glimmer of hope they left was just another gamble, a new trap set for the Mad Witches!
There was a classic saying among Mad Witches: "In a lifetime of gambles, the only one that matters is the last one!"
No matter how much you’ve won before, if you lose that final hand, all your previous victories are for nothing.
That was the way of a Mad Witch. Every major gamble in their life was an all-in bet.
He hadn’t reached his own "all-in" moment yet, so this was still just a routine experiment. Except this time, his goal wasn’t a Divine Abomination, nor was it a so-called Tier Six Divine Abomination-type Follower with an Anti-Divine Attack.
Instead, he was attempting to research a more profound Creation: the Titans!
The Titans, predecessors to the first Gods, were once known as the Divine Race!
They had long since vanished into the river of time. Throughout the vast Boundless Void, only scattered ruins proved that this race had ever existed.
However, rumor had it that the Truth Association’s Divine Spirit Department had recently made some breakthroughs. They discovered that modern Deities still had intricate ties to the Titans—even Deities newly ascended from humanity!
And among all things, the connection between Divine Abominations and Titans was the deepest of all!
The specific reason was unknown.
The specific data was classified.
In short, he had only obtained "scattered" data—a ritual for extracting the Concept of a Titan from a Divine Abomination.
Having been around for so many years, he understood everything the moment these materials "coincidentally" appeared before him. So, he brought the data here, set up the ritual, and began his experiment.
He felt no resentment about being manipulated. He’d experienced this kind of thing far too many times. It was just a transaction, a simple trade where each party got what they wanted. He gained power, and they got their illicit data.
’Isn’t that what Mad Witches are for?’
At least, that was the most realistic purpose for now. Everything else was too distant, too illusory for a Tier Four Wizard like him.
Unfortunately, the experiment wasn’t going smoothly. The biggest problem wasn’t the Curse from the Gods—that was just a decoy.
The biggest problem was that this ritual was far too rigid!
So rigid, it hardly felt like a ritual at all...
A Legendary Mage’s ritual should be free-form, not something so by-the-book. Even after he had extensively modified it, problems still arose during its actual operation.
The underlying logic of this ritual was completely different from those of a Legendary Mage. To a Legendary Mage, as long as a ritual ran and produced a result, the process in between didn’t matter, and neither did the components!
The same was true for brewing Magic Potions.
But this rigid ritual wasn’t like that. The slightest error in its procedures could cause the whole thing to collapse!
Simply put, it didn’t have a sufficient margin for error—at least, not in the way of a Legendary Mage.
So, although he had managed to optimize it, the final result was still far from ideal. And now, it was on the verge of collapsing again, dammit!
The Mad Witch sighed and went back to optimizing and adjusting the ritual.
Meanwhile, Isaac, who had just left, knew the ritual would go awry, but he hadn’t discerned its true purpose. There was nothing he could do about it; as mentioned, their underlying logics were different.
Although Isaac had studied a great deal of Arcanist Knowledge, he was still too young. There was too much to learn and too little time, so his understanding was neither comprehensive nor profound.
When it came to something like Ritualism, he had barely even studied the rituals of the Arcanists.
Arcanist rituals were inherently far inferior to those of Legendary Mages. If one day he finished learning all the ritual Knowledge of Legendary Mages and hit a bottleneck, then he might choose to study Arcanist rituals to explore other approaches.
But for now, that thought hadn’t even crossed Isaac’s mind.
Naturally, he failed to see the ritual’s true purpose. He chose to leave at that moment for two reasons. First, he had gotten what he wanted. Second, the connection between the boy and the Mad Witch had been completely severed, so taking him away now wouldn’t cause any trouble.
Finally, and most importantly, it was the safest move. The ritual was about to take a turn for the worse. Although he didn’t know why a Mad Witch of that Level would make such a basic mistake, he figured it might have something to do with the innovative nature of the ritual. Isaac didn’t overthink it. He seized the opportunity while his opponent couldn’t easily leave and made a run for it with Mike.
When the Void Sawtooth reappeared, Isaac had already brought the blond-haired, blue-eyed boy, Mike, to his temporary Mage Tower. After settling him inside and inspecting the materials Liu Li and the Demonic Puppet Legion had collected, Isaac set off on his journey once more.
As for the young Mike, Isaac had temporarily sealed him within the temporary Mage Tower. He didn’t have a concrete plan yet for how to utilize the Evil God’s contingency on the boy, so he decided to leave him there for the time being.
’I wouldn’t dare keep him by my side. What if he just... goes off?’
’Now *that* would be fun!’
A moment later, Isaac’s figure appeared in the Antarctic of Brurel. But unlike his sneaking around in the Island Country before, this time, Isaac had arrived openly and honorably.
Because this was the Arcanists’ testing ground!
"Yo~ everyone. Mind if I come have a chat?" Outside the Antarctic encampment, Isaac stood amidst the biting wind and snow, a gentle, beaming smile on his face as he addressed the Golem standing at the entrance to the Mage Tower.
Inside the Mage Tower, despite being separated from Isaac by a Golem, and despite the complete lack of chill within the tower, the Arcanist couldn’t help but shiver. ’There it is again... that smile...’
’Why couldn’t I shake this man, even after coming all the way out here!’
Avin was in despair!
He was just here to earn some easy credits, so how did he end up running into Isaac here of all places?!
Yes, by a stroke of coincidence, the person behind the Golem Isaac was addressing was none other than Avin Klay—the very same man who had once given him that crucial piece of advice (to replace his advancement ritual with an Evil God transaction ritual)!
"Hm?" Seeing that the Golem wasn’t responding, Isaac tilted his head in curiosity. ’People from the Truth Association aren’t usually this rude, are they? Not even a word in reply?’
"Wait! I need to ask Grand Arcanist Rek for instructions first!"
"Hm? That voice..." Although the voice coming from the Golem was slightly distorted, Isaac found it familiar.
After a moment’s thought, he asked tentatively, "Avin?"
"..."
Behind the Golem, Avin froze. ’No way... he recognized me from that?’
’We haven’t seen each other in so long, I’m behind a Golem, and I even intentionally altered my voice! Not even my own mother would recognize me under these circumstances, so how did he?’
Avin felt like crying but had no tears. If it had been any other normal Wizard—not even a Tier Four, but a Tier Three High-level Mage—remembering him after all this time, he would have jumped for joy!
But Isaac...
Now, all he felt was a faint sense of despair...
But no matter how deep his despair, he still answered Isaac quickly. Regardless of anything else, Isaac was a Tier Four Miracle Mage. For a Wizard of that Level, even a Mad Witch, he had to show a certain degree of respect.
This was the proper attitude to show a forerunner on the Path of Truth.
"It is I. I’m surprised you still remember me," Avin replied, his tone laced with a hint of lifelessness.
"Of course! You gave me the most crucial advice when I was most lost. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call you a mentor on my Path of the Wizard. Without your suggestion back then, I might still be stuck at the Grand Wizard stage, searching everywhere for an advancement ritual," Isaac said with a touch of sentiment.
