Leon stepped back, causing the sword aimed at his head to miss him by a few inches. He escaped unscathed, but the attacker didn’t.

His spear stabbed into the man’s thigh, breaking through his armor and drawing blood.

The man pulled back immediately, flanked by his partners. Leon stared at them, then made hands of darkness manifest and grab at them.

They reacted quickly, slashing their weapons to destroy the hands.

’What an uncanny coordination...’ Leon thought. ’However, I still own this battlefield.’

He sank into the darkness and reemerged closely behind one of the warriors. Before the man could turn around, Leon stabbed his dagger into the man’s neck.

Unfortunately, he didn’t manage to kill him completely. Before he could, the others turned and bombarded him with attacks.

Leon slipped away, staring at them with a dark gaze hidden within the darkness.

The ten warriors synced perfectly, and their coordination put a slight pressure on him. Tilting his head, he dodged an arrow and blocked another.

A flash of light shone from one of the Evolvers, who immediately threw something at him.

Knowing it was a kind of grenade, Leon dodged.

BOOM!

It exploded into white flames that lit up the darkness briefly before the flames were swallowed. Using that brief illumination to accurately determine Leon’s location, the four archers fired from different angles, hoping to catch him before he slipped away.

As they moved, someone else activated a blindness ability, and Leon’s sight went blank.

Clicking his tongue, he switched to Shadow Sense which was almost like having eyes everywhere within the dome of darkness.

He saw the four arrows coming at him, and remembering what they had done to Selene’s shield, he didn’t dare take them on.

A flash of light enveloped him, and he teleported right beside one of the archers.

The butt of his spear slammed into the side of the woman’s head, knocking her off balance. The moment they realized their attacks missed, the other archers turned to him and fired again.

As Leon pulled away, he was forced to confront two Vaelari who wielded spears like him.

One made a quick stab at his head while another slashed at his legs.

Leon’s eyes narrowed as he rapidly calculated his options. He had to dodge both attacks, but that would mean stepping back into the path of the arrows.

Clicking his tongue, he did just that. He activated Shadow Mantle, shrouding himself in a cloak of shadows.

The arrows struck his back, but barely managed to pierce through his armor. Grunting, he grabbed the spear aimed at his head and pulled.

The spearman was yanked forward, and Leon’s spear shot through his heart.

[You have slain a Level 65...]

The man died without ever seeing it coming. Yanking the corpse off his spear, Leon leaned to the side, dodging a strike that was meant to cut him in half.

He kicked at the swordsman, forcing him back several steps. The Vaelari warriors regrouped, but they were down to nine.

’Now that their formation has been broken, let’s see how fast they’ll break.’

Outside the dome, the world felt cold.

Shivering, Awan glared at the woman standing before him. He had switched the sword to his left hand. After all, his right arm had been frozen up to his elbow, and he feared that any attempt to break the ice would destroy his own arm as well.

Gritting his teeth and suppressing the pain, he looked at his two partners.

"The Reds still haven’t come out of that black dome. Looks like this is tougher than we expected."

Kelvin shook his shoulders, feeling a stinging pain. He glared at Selene, then whispered. "We’ll use our trump card."

Selene managed to catch what he said, and her expression darkened. She was already drained from fighting them.

In fact, she wouldn’t call it ’fighting them’. Instead, she was simply doing her best to survive them.

Exhaling a steaming breath, she raised her sword and faced them. No matter what, she would fight and wait for Leon to come assist her.

’Wait. When did I start depending on—’

She didn’t get to finish the thought, as the spearman suddenly shot at her. She barely had time to react, raising her sword to block his spear.

She was almost sent flying by the force behind his attack, but she managed to skid back safely.

Feeling the cold around him intensify, the black-armored spearman clicked his tongue and stepped back.

Before Selene could enjoy the brief reprieve, Kelvin came down on her from above.

She immediately moved to dodge, but thick earth walls rose around her, keeping her in place.

She could bulldoze her way out, but she wouldn’t be fast enough to escape the giant hammer descending.

Gritting her teeth, she stopped fueling mana into the blizzard and activated Ice Mirror.

The transparent shield appeared over her, and Kelvin’s weapon impacted it. The shield barely held for a few seconds before shattering, but it was enough for her to break through the walls and escape the encirclement.

As the shield was shattered, she suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood, having completely exhausted her mana. The backlash was strong, and she stiffened for a moment.

That was all Awan needed.

He reached her in an instant, slashing his sword at her waist. She barely managed to avoid the blow, but the blade ended up slicing into her leg.

Still, she managed to escape without being split into two. Strangely, Awan didn’t pursue her. He simply stood and watched, while Kelvin and the other man stopped beside him.

Selene stopped a few meters away from them, feeling blood flow from the wound. Strangely, it felt itchy, and she took a curious glance.

Her eyes widened in horror, catching something slithering into her flesh. Even before she blinked, it was gone.

’A parasite...!’

Reacting immediately, she hissed and froze her entire leg, trapping it there.

Awan sighed in relief and was about to go after her when the darkness dome finally disappeared.

Seeing the corpses littering the ground and Leon standing alone, he felt his heart turn cold.

Kelvin’s eyes widened. "He killed them all...?"

Leon panted, slightly exhausted. Killing all ten had taken more effort than he imagined, and he had even suffered some wounds. Still, he prevailed.

Removing the last arrow from his back, he glanced at Selene and the three Tier Three Evolvers.

The sight made him frown.
