World Evolution: Starting With The Wind Monarch
Chapter 119: Evergreen City
"We are about to reach Evergreen City," Alice said to Evan as she pointed at a tall mountain cliff in the distance.
Evan followed her gaze, and seeing the mountain cliff, his eyes couldn’t help but light up slightly.
"So beautiful..." He muttered under his breath while looking at the mountain.
Although they were still over twenty kilometers away from the mountain, with the help of the Eagle’s Eye Skill, which enhanced his eyesight by 20 times, Evan could still see everything in the distance clearly.
The mountain cliff was about ten thousand meters high, with its top hidden behind a thin veil of swirling clouds. Through the thin mist of clouds, Evan was surprised to see that the entire top of the mountain was flat, with a forest situated at the top of it.
A waterfall was flowing down from the side of the mountain, its water pouring into the river at the bottom. White mist, like fog, rose from the river and covered the lower half of the mountain, giving it an ethereal look.
Amid the water mist, one could see a rainbow appearing occasionally as the falling water from the waterfall splashed everywhere.
It was the first time Evan had seen such a beautiful place, so he couldn’t help but stare at it in a daze.
After a few seconds, he finally came back to his senses and asked curiously,
"Is Evergreen City right beyond that mountain?"
Kevin chuckled when he noticed Evan’s awe-struck expression and shook his head.
"It’s not beyond that mountain."
"Hmmm?" Evan stopped looking at the mountain and turned to look at Alice and the others in confusion.
"If it’s not beyond the mountain, then where is it?"
Alice once again pointed at the mountain and spoke calmly.
"Evergreen City is not beyond the mountain but on top of it."
Evan frowned when he heard Alice’s words and once again looked at the top of the mountain.
Although it was hidden behind a thin mist of swirling clouds, he could still see that there was only a forest on top of it, with no people or signs of a city anywhere.
"You are not fooling me, right? Because as far as I can see, there is only a forest on top of that mountain."
Liam and the others were taken aback when they heard Evan.
"You can see what’s on top of the mountain from here?" Erza asked in a stunned voice.
Erza’s class was related to archery, providing her with a passive boost to her eyesight.
But even with her current eyesight, it was extremely difficult for her to see anything behind the veil of clouds that covered the mountain top.
Moreover, they were about twenty kilometers away from the mountain, and for Evan to be able to see the mountain top from such a distance, it really made Erza wonder if he was also an archer.
Hearing Erza’s question, Evan waved his hand and replied calmly.
"I have a skill that increases my eyesight greatly, so it’s not difficult for me to see things on the mountain top."
Erza’s mouth twitched when she heard Evan’s words, and she showed a forced smile.
"Yes, just a skill."
In fact, the main reason Evan could see the mountain top clearly was not only because of the Eagle’s Eye Skill.
It was mostly because of his high stat points, which enhanced everything about his existence.
With his high stats, which were not lower than those of many Rank Two Evolvers, it was not difficult for him to achieve such a result.
Suddenly, Erza thought about the crossbow that Evan had used earlier.
Considering he could see things clearly even from a distance of twenty kilometers, didn’t it mean he could use that crossbow to kill people from a very long distance?
Although she did not know the exact grade of the Arch Eagle Crossbow, she felt that it wasn’t impossible for it to shoot bolts several kilometers away.
’This guy is practically a long-distance assassin...’ Erza thought and sighed, wondering if it was her or him who had an archer class.
"You guys still haven’t answered my doubts? You said Evergreen City is on top of the mountain, but I can’t see it there..." Evan’s curious voice brought Erza and the others out of their thoughts.
Alice shook her head at Evan’s question and replied calmly,
"It’s a bit complicated. You will understand once we reach there."
Evan raised an eyebrow upon hearing Alice but did not ask anything.
Soon, they were just one kilometer away from the mountain.
Just then, Evan suddenly felt many gazes fixed on them, and his body tensed.
Liam noticed his reaction and chuckled.
"Don’t worry, they are just guards who monitor the entrance of Evergreen City."
"Guards?" Evan was surprised when he heard Liam and looked around.
But even with his powerful senses, he couldn’t see or feel anyone.
Soon, they were just five hundred meters away from the mountain, and Nero stopped flying forward, hovering high in the sky.
Alice took out a token from her Storage Ring and raised it above her head.
Suddenly, energy fluctuations came from the token, and Evan noticed water-like ripples spreading in front of them.
Evan tried to sense what was happening, but other than seeing those ripples, he couldn’t understand anything.
A few seconds later, the ripples stopped, and Alice put away the token.
"Let’s go, Nero," She said, and Nero once again flew forward.
As Nero passed through the area where the ripples had appeared earlier, Evan felt like he had crossed a barrier.
Evan frowned slightly and looked back in confusion.
’What was that?’
But the confusion on his face soon disappeared and was replaced by shock because, as he once again shifted his attention from the back to the front, he saw a scene that was completely different from before.
The forest that he had seen at the top of the mountain earlier had completely disappeared.
Instead of the forest, a beautiful city bustling with people appeared there.
Seeing the shock on Evan’s face, Alice smiled slightly.
"Welcome to Evergreen City."
