World Evolution: Starting With The Wind Monarch
Chapter 160: Fear (Part 1)
Knock!!! Knock!!!
The sound of someone knocking on the door echoed through the room, causing Evan, who was washing his face to stop.
"Coming!" He shouted before drying his face with a towel and walking over to open the door.
As the door opened, Evan saw Liam, Kevin, Alice, and Erza standing outside.
"Ready for your match?" Kevin asked with a grin.
Evan nodded and stepped out of his room, closing the door behind him.
"Let’s hurry up. I heard from some students outside that Eric is already at the arena," Liam said before rushing out of the building.
Evan and the others followed behind him, but their pace was quite leisurely, as though they weren’t taking the match too seriously.
"Most of the students will be there to watch your sparring match against Eric," Alice said. "Someone has spread the news throughout the entire academy that you’ll be fighting Eric today."
"I think I already know who that someone is," Evan said with a chuckle.
Kevin also chuckled upon hearing his words and shook his head.
"That fool wants to embarrass you in front of all the students."
"It’s not certain who will end up embarrassed," Evan replied calmly before changing the subject.
"Forget about that fool. Alice, when we came to the academy, you mentioned that there’s a place where I can train with the wind element, right?"
"Yes..." Alice nodded and asked curiously, "Do you want to train there?"
"I’ll be going back the day after tomorrow, and since I don’t have anything else to do, I was thinking of training there before leaving."
Liam rubbed his chin upon hearing Evan’s words.
"I don’t think you’ll gain much from training for only two days, but it’ll still be a good experience for you..." He paused before adding, "Besides, we’ll also be leaving for the main academy in three or four days, so even if you want to stay here longer, you’ll have to stay alone."
Evan raised an eyebrow in surprise.
"I didn’t expect you guys to be leaving so soon."
"Mother only informed me last night..." Alice shook her head. "I didn’t expect to leave so soon either. Since you want to train your Wind Element, I’ll take you there after your match."
Evan nodded and didn’t say anything else.
Soon, they reached the academy building.
Looking at the numerous students heading inside, Evan couldn’t help shaking his head.
’It’s like a festival.’
Kevin noticed his expression and chuckled.
"Everyone here has come to watch you, my friend. You’re the protagonist today."
Evan rolled his eyes at Kevin’s words. However, after seeing so many students, he suddenly thought of something.
"Can’t we charge an entrance fee? We’d earn quite a lot if everyone had to pay one Rank One Mana Core to watch the fight."
Alice and the others’ mouths twitched upon hearing Evan’s words, and they looked at him speechlessly.
"You really love money, huh..." Alice muttered with a shake of her head.
"Look, that human is coming!"
Suddenly, someone shouted, and all the students turned to look at Evan.
"I thought he would run away without even fighting. Looks like he at least has a backbone."
"How is this guy still here? I heard that after Eric challenged him, he ran to meet Chancellor Flora and then left Planet Elvador out of fear."
"I don’t know if this is true or not, but I heard he wet himself when Eric challenged him yesterday!"
Evan’s mouth twitched when he heard the students’ conversation, but he ignored them and continued toward the sparring arena on the third floor.
Liam and the others tried to suppress their laughter after hearing the rumor about Evan wetting himself. However, their trembling shoulders made it obvious that they were having a hard time holding back their laughter.
"You’re all grown up now, Evan, but you still wet yourself?" Liam said, unable to contain his laughter.
Evan’s face darkened, and he clenched his fists.
"That bastard Eric sure did a good job spreading rumors," He cursed under his breath.
Erza stepped away from Evan and looked at him mockingly.
"Little brother, just make sure you don’t wet yourself again in front of the students."
Evan didn’t bother responding to their teasing and simply increased his pace.
Soon, they arrived on the third floor of the academy, where most of the students’ training rooms were located.
Evan followed Erza and the others until they stopped in front of a door with the words Sparring Arena written on it.
"Once you go through this door, you’ll reach the sparring arena. And don’t worry about injuries or anything like that. There’s a formation inside the arena that prevents anyone from dying during a fight," Alice explained as they stopped in front of the door.
"You guys aren’t coming with me?" Evan asked with a confused expression.
"We’ll be in the audience stands. Only the participants and a referee are allowed inside the arena," Kevin explained.
"I see..." A look of understanding flashed across Evan’s face, and he nodded.
"Good luck, although you don’t really need it," Liam said with a smile.
"Give that bastard a good beating. He’s always trying to irritate Alice," Erza added.
After saying their goodbyes, Alice and the others left for the audience stands.
Evan looked at the closed door, and a cold gleam flashed in his eyes.
"This guy will regret spreading rumors about me."
He opened the door and stepped inside.
The moment Evan entered the sparring arena, he was stunned to discover that, instead of a simple hall or training room, he had arrived in a massive gladiatorial arena.
Looking around, Evan saw hundreds of students sitting in the audience stands. The most astonishing thing was that when he looked up, he saw a clear blue sky instead of the arena’s ceiling.
’How did these guys even create something like this?’ Evan wondered.
He knew that the academy building had more than three floors, but seeing a clear sky above him while standing on the third floor was truly bizarre.
"That human finally came! I was starting to think he’d run away out of fear!"
As soon as Evan entered the arena, the spectators began talking among themselves.
Evan ignored the audience and looked toward the center of the arena, where Eric stood, waiting for him with a smile on his face.
’Keep smiling, Mister Sparrow, because I don’t think you’ll be able to smile for much longer,’ Evan sneered inwardly as he walked toward him.
