Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

Chapter 485: Will we be together like this forever?

Quentin Blackwood explained many other techniques. Sometimes, the cards weren’t about their value, but about the order and how you played them.

Ivy Sherwood tried two more times and found that Julian Grant and the others really were bluffing. Following what Quentin Blackwood taught her, Ivy actually won two rounds.

But later, after Julian Grant caught on, he quickly changed his strategy and started coordinating with Ethan Forrest.

Ivy Sherwood couldn’t beat the two of them, so Quentin Blackwood whispered a few more strategies in her ear. Toward the end, while Ivy didn’t win every time, her chances of losing had decreased significantly.

After a few more back-and-forths, Ivy Sherwood got the hang of it through practice and started winning quite a bit on her own.

The chips she had lost slowly began to make their way back to her.

Although she didn’t win them all back, she had at least won back a portion.

Ivy Sherwood gave all her chips to Quentin Blackwood. "They’re all yours."

"You’re giving all your money to me?" Quentin Blackwood asked.

Ivy Sherwood said, "Most of it was yours to begin with."

Quentin Blackwood accepted them with a light chuckle, then said to the others, who still wanted to play, "It’s getting late. We should head back and rest."

Who would have thought the word "rest" would ever come out of Quentin Blackwood’s mouth? He was a notorious night owl who often worked overtime until two or three in the morning. What time was it now? Not even midnight yet, and he was already thinking it was time to go home and rest?

"It’s still early, isn’t it?" Julian Grant said. They were all night owls, not to mention the Film Emperor, who often filmed night scenes.

"Then you can play by yourself. Ivy and I are going home."

Ivy needed to rest properly. Staying up late was bad for her health.

"Tsk!" Julian Grant cursed. ’I need to find a girlfriend, and fast,’ he vowed. ’Next time, I’m leaving even earlier than Quentin Blackwood.’

"Yeah, we’re heading back," Ivy Sherwood said. She was getting a little sleepy too.

"Alright then. We’ll play again next time. Ethan, you’re not leaving so soon, are you?"

Ethan Forrest said, "I plan to stay a while longer. Lustre is really nice. The scenery is beautiful, a great place to live."

"Then as the host, I’d better show you a good time."

「...」

Julian Grant and the others planned to play a while longer, so Ivy Sherwood and Quentin Blackwood left first.

Quentin Blackwood had been drinking, so the two of them called for a driver. They soon arrived at Ivy Sherwood’s home.

After getting out of the car, Quentin Blackwood and Ivy Sherwood entered the elevator, holding hands.

Ivy Sherwood saw their reflection in the elevator doors. Quentin Blackwood was taller than her by more than half a head; his height of nearly six-foot-three was just so impressive.

"Do you think... we’ll be together like this forever?" Ivy Sherwood asked.

She just felt Quentin Blackwood’s grip on her hand tighten. "We will."

’We definitely will!’

The moment they opened the door, Quentin Blackwood pressed her against it and started kissing her.

Quentin Blackwood had drunk quite a bit. Even though he’d had some tea, he still smelled of alcohol, and the scent was especially strong when they kissed.

Even Ivy Sherwood was soon tinged with the smell of alcohol. Quentin Blackwood’s kiss wasn’t rough; it was tender and lingering, yet it made Ivy’s legs go weak.

Quentin Blackwood wrapped his arm around Ivy Sherwood’s waist and lifted her up, carrying her over to the sofa. He leaned down, pressing her into the cushions and kissing her for a long while.

Then he just held her, burying his head in the crook of her neck. "Ivy..."

’I love her so much!’

"You’ve had too much to drink. Go wash up and get to bed," Ivy Sherwood said, patting him.

But Quentin Blackwood didn’t want to let go. He wanted to keep holding her just like this.

For some reason, there was a thread of anxiety deep inside him. He had a feeling that something unexpected might still happen.

「...」

Ivy Sherwood remembered her promise to Landon Jacobs to go check on Milo Jacobs. The next day, she went to the address he had given her.

She knocked, and the door opened quickly. Milo Jacobs was surprised to see Ivy Sherwood.

"Ivy? How did you know I lived here?"

’It was the address Landon Jacobs gave me, of course.’

But she had promised Landon Jacobs she wouldn’t tell, so Ivy Sherwood said, "Mr. Grant told me. I saw the news online that you were injured."

"Oh, then please, come in," Milo Jacobs said, ushering Ivy inside.

Milo Jacobs’s home wasn’t particularly large. He said, "It might be a little small, but I bought it with my own money."

Ivy Sherwood placed the fruit and gifts she had brought to the side. "This isn’t small at all. Is your injury okay?"

Milo Jacobs said, "I’m fine. It just might delay filming. I’ve already recovered quite well, and I should be able to join the production in a couple of days."

Ivy Sherwood noticed the television was on, playing a movie. Just then, a scene with Landon Jacobs appeared on screen.

Milo Jacobs quickly said, "Well, I didn’t have anything else to do, so I was just studying the Film Emperor’s acting, trying to learn from him. Though I’ll probably never be able to catch up to him in my lifetime."

He desperately wanted to catch up to Landon Jacobs. Landon was his inspiration, his ultimate goal.

"Why do you say that? Your acting is great too. And you don’t have to catch up to him. If it were that easy, then everyone would be a Film Emperor. Otherwise, why would there only be one right now?"

Milo Jacobs knew Ivy Sherwood was just comforting him. Milo whispered, "It’s different for me."

It was precisely because of their relationship that he was so driven to catch up to him and see him as a benchmark.

Ivy Sherwood knew their relationship was a sensitive topic. "Let’s not talk about that," she said. "I actually came today for another reason."

As she spoke, she took out a document and placed it in front of him. Milo Jacobs picked it up. "A contract renewal?"

"Mhm. Our original contract was only for one year, and it’s almost time to renew. Take a look and see if you have any conditions you’d like to add."

Milo Jacobs flipped through it and saw that the pay had increased substantially—it was even more than his current market value—and there were many other benefits as well.

He was stunned. "This..."

He had actually thought that since Iris was doing so well now, they might hire a bigger star for their endorsement.

Ivy Sherwood said, "Iris is expanding internationally now, so you’ll be our global spokesperson. Of course the pay has to be higher. If you feel it’s not enough, you can still ask for more."

"No, this is already more than enough. Thank you, Ivy." Milo Jacobs was incredibly grateful. If Ivy Sherwood hadn’t chosen him at the company, he probably wouldn’t even have any acting roles right now.

"Don’t mention it. You’re very talented yourself, and you’re a perfect fit for Iris."

Milo Jacobs was truly grateful to Ivy Sherwood. She was the first person to ever recognize his talent.

Ivy Sherwood saw that Milo Jacobs’s leg injury indeed wasn’t that serious, which was a relief.

She also noticed that Milo Jacobs’s home was actually filled with things related to Landon Jacobs—DVDs, posters, and even some magazines with his interviews.

It seemed he really wanted his brother’s approval. He didn’t really get to see Landon Jacobs normally, so he could only follow him quietly, like a little fan.

After Ivy Sherwood left Milo Jacobs’s place, she saw a message from Landon Jacobs: "How is he?"

They had exchanged contact information at the last gathering. Ivy Sherwood originally started typing a reply: "He’s fine."

But after a moment’s thought, she deleted it and sent a new message: "He’s badly hurt. The situation doesn’t look good."
