Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

Chapter 486: You Didn’t Write That Huos Are Unwelcome

  • Next Chapter

After Ivy Sherwood left, Milo Jacobs sat and watched the television screen.

The man on the TV was captivating. His body was covered in scars, but he possessed a rugged, masculine charm.

Landon Jacobs played an undercover agent in the film, perfectly portraying all the forbearance and hardship that came with the role. His character’s years in obscurity were heart-wrenching to watch.

Milo just kept watching. It wasn’t so much about studying acting; rather, whenever he felt down or started to doubt himself, he liked to watch Landon Jacobs’s movies.

He saw him as a goal, a constant source of motivation.

He didn’t know how long he’d been watching when the doorbell rang.

Milo couldn’t guess who it was. ’Did Ivy forget something here?’

He limped over to the door. The moment he opened it, he froze.

"Bro!"

His eyes filled with excitement. He never expected it to be Landon Jacobs.

But Milo’s expression quickly fell. He knew Landon didn’t like him calling him "bro."

"Did... Did Mom send you to check on me?" Milo asked tentatively.

He had no idea when Landon had returned to Lustre. Although their family was in Lustre, Landon rarely came back. Ever since he was a student, he hadn’t come home often.

"Are your injuries serious?" Landon had brought some things with him.

"Those are all just rumors. My injuries aren’t serious."

Milo followed behind him like a well-behaved puppy.

The TV was still on. Milo scrambled over to turn it off, then snuck a glance at Landon’s face. It was obvious he had seen himself on the screen.

"Isn’t this a pretty old movie?" Landon asked.

Milo said, "I was just bored and watching whatever. Do you want to sit for a bit? Do you want some water? I’ll go get you a glass!"

"Don’t trouble yourself."

"Oh." Milo fiddled with the hem of his shirt, not daring to look at Landon.

When his brother was on a TV screen, he could watch him freely. But when he was standing right in front of him, he didn’t dare to look.

’This brother of mine is too brilliant, like a sun beyond my reach. I can only look up at him in silence, dreaming of the day I can stand as tall as him.’

’But there’s only one sun in the world. No matter how large other planets are, they can only be foils to its light.’

"You’re injured and there’s no one here to take care of you?"

"It’s just a minor injury. I can manage on my own. Besides, I’m joining a new production soon. But... how did you know I lived here?"

He had thought Landon wouldn’t know. ’Landon dislikes me so much, why would he care about my situation?’

What he didn’t know was that Landon had always known he had a place here.

"I heard about it."

"Oh." Milo was once again at a loss for words.

Landon had just come to check on him. He had been a little worried when he heard from Ivy that his injuries were serious.

Seeing that he was okay, Landon felt relieved.

...

Quentin Blackwood had rushed back before because he heard Ivy Sherwood was in trouble, but he hadn’t actually finished his business in Aethelgard.

So, in the next few days, he would probably have to make another trip to Aethelgard.

But before he left, Quentin had one major thing to do.

Quentin asked Ivy to go out with him. Ivy said, "But I’m very busy. I have a lot of work."

"Work is endless," Quentin said.

The phrase sounded familiar, like something someone had said to him countless times. He never thought he’d be the one saying it one day.

He could see Ivy’s hesitation, so he said with a wounded expression, "So, I’m less important than your work."

Ivy was speechless. "...That’s not the same thing at all."

After all, Quentin himself worked overtime almost every day.

"Alright, when and where are we going?"

"Out on the sea. Is that okay?"

"The sea? Okay." Ivy agreed.

She actually loved the ocean. The deep blue sea was beautiful, especially when it reflected the blue sky and white clouds.

"How about this weekend, then?" That would also give Quentin time to prepare.

"Sounds good," Ivy agreed.

Quentin couldn’t keep the smile off his face. He found some time to meet up with Ethan Forrest and Julian Grant.

"So? Did she agree?" Ethan seemed even more anxious than Quentin.

"Yeah."

"Then we’ll start setting things up! Quentin, I guarantee it, we’ll get this proposal planned out perfectly for you!"

Julian, as the ultimate wingman, was naturally at the forefront of the effort.

Knowing Quentin wanted to propose, they all started chiming in with ideas.

They all turned into ace planners, throwing out all sorts of suggestions, though Quentin ended up rejecting them all. He had his own ideas.

"Just try not to mess things up."

"How is this messing things up? I’m obviously helping you," Julian said.

Quentin had his own vision. He might still be on probation in their relationship, but that wasn’t going to stop him from proposing.

He wanted to marry Ivy soon. Otherwise, it would be difficult to hold a wedding once her belly started to show.

Of course, a ceremony after the baby was born wouldn’t be too late, but he wanted to get their marriage certificate first.

Ideally, Quentin wanted the wedding to happen before the baby arrived, which didn’t leave him much time.

Planning a wedding took time, and Quentin felt he should start now.

If Ivy liked Lustre, they’d have it in Lustre. If she preferred Aethelgard, they’d go to Aethelgard. If she wanted it in Elandra, that was fine too. If she wanted to have one in each place, then they’d have a ceremony in every single one.

Quentin didn’t want to hire a wedding planning company. He wanted to handle everything himself, even if it meant being a bit busier.

The men chatted for a while, then raised their cups. "I’m heading back after this."

Julian said, "I’ve never seen you so family-oriented before. Besides, this is just tea. What’s there to ’bottoms up’?"

That’s right. Their get-togethers had become much more health-conscious.

Nowadays, instead of bars and clubs, they met at teahouses to cultivate their spirits.

Thanks to Quentin, Julian felt his very soul had been purified. He felt incredibly noble now.

Despite saying they wouldn’t chug it, they all finished their tea rather quickly.

The only problem with drinking so much of the stuff was the frequent trips to the restroom.

And with that, the gathering broke up. Quentin made a few more calls to finalize the arrangements, making sure everything would go off without a hitch.

Ivy just felt that Quentin had been acting a bit secretive lately, and she had no idea what he was up to.

But Quentin had his own business, and she had hers, so she didn’t ask.

She hadn’t seen Elijah Hawthorne for several days, so she was surprised when he showed up at her company.

"What are you doing here?"

"I walked right in through the front door. It’s not like your entrance has a sign saying ’No Hawthornes Allowed’," Elijah said casually.

He made himself at home, sitting down and crossing his legs with a leisurely air.

Ivy was speechless. "..."

It was his lucky day that he didn’t run into Quentin Blackwood at the door. Otherwise, Elijah might not have gotten in so easily.
