"Just say what you want in the text. If it’s about Ruby Sterling, the Rhodes Family is the one prosecuting her for murder. It’s useless to come to me."

Claire Sherwood replied quickly: "What, are you that scared to see me?"

"Ivy Sherwood, I didn’t realize you’d regressed so much. You must be afraid of me."

"Your taunts won’t work on me. I simply don’t want to see you." Their mutual dislike for each other was nothing new.

Claire Sherwood called her directly. This time, Ivy Sherwood answered.

Claire Sherwood’s mocking voice came through the phone, "Ivy Sherwood, you’re just afraid of seeing a better, more accomplished version of me, aren’t you? You could never compete with me when we were children, and now you don’t even dare to see my face."

Ivy Sherwood scoffed in return, "Are you kidding me? You’ve been abroad for so many years—do you have any accomplishments to speak of? How exactly are you so accomplished?"

"It’s not that I won’t see you, it’s that you aren’t worthy of seeing me. If you want to meet with me, schedule an appointment with my assistant and get in line. I don’t just see anyone who wants to."

Ivy Sherwood’s voice sounded completely calm, without a hint of fear.

At the door, Claire Sherwood dug her nails into her palm. ’It’s been a while, but this Ivy Sherwood has certainly upped her game.’

"Ivy Sherwood, I have something to say to you! If you don’t come meet me, I’m not leaving!"

Seeing Ivy Sherwood was secondary. The person Claire Sherwood really wanted to see was that man.

Unfortunately, Quentin Blackwood was with Ivy Sherwood every day, so getting a moment alone with him was truly difficult.

She had never taken Ivy Sherwood seriously, because she considered herself the chosen one, someone Ivy could never compare to in any way.

Even when she heard that Ivy Sherwood was breathtakingly beautiful, she paid it no mind—until she saw Ivy’s photo online...

Ivy Sherwood said, "Suit yourself."

’Did she think she could threaten me just by refusing to leave?’

Ivy Sherwood called security directly. Her residential complex wasn’t actually that high-end, but Quentin Blackwood had later replaced the entire security team, bought the property management company outright, and had DG take over. He also had many surveillance cameras installed, and the property management had become much more efficient.

The security guards arrived on Ivy Sherwood’s floor shortly after, and just as expected, Claire Sherwood was there.

The guards were reasonably polite. "Miss, hello. The resident has reported an unidentified person at her door. Please leave immediately and do not linger, or we will be forced to take action."

Claire Sherwood hadn’t expected Ivy Sherwood to actually call security. ’How outrageous!’

"Don’t you touch me! If any of you so much as lay a finger on me, I’ll call the police. The person inside and I are family. Tell her to come out so we can talk face to face."

Claire Sherwood hated being touched. She had originally planned to talk to Ivy Sherwood civilly, but Ivy had to go and pull a stunt like this.

’Does she really think she’s some big shot now? Without Quentin Blackwood and people like him, Ivy Sherwood is nothing.’

’And Ivy Sherwood actually had the nerve to say that *I* wasn’t worthy of seeing *her*.’

’Pah! Who the hell does Ivy Sherwood think she is? On any other day, Claire felt that Ivy wasn’t even worthy of carrying her shoes.’

The guard said, "The resident says she doesn’t know you. If you don’t leave, don’t blame us for getting rough."

"I’m not leaving! What can you do to me—AH! Let go of me! Let me go!"

They had already tried to persuade her nicely. Since Claire Sherwood refused to leave on her own, they couldn’t be blamed for getting rough and taking direct action.

This was the first time Claire Sherwood had ever been so disgracefully thrown out of a residential complex. ’Ivy Sherwood, you win this round!’

Ivy Sherwood received a message from property management, saying the person had been "cleared out."

Ivy Sherwood replied, "Thank you, I appreciate your hard work."

She then sent them a large red envelope as a small token of her appreciation.

However, knowing Claire Sherwood, she definitely wouldn’t let this go. She would probably find another opportunity to see her, clinging to her like a stubborn plaster you couldn’t peel off.

Ruby Sterling’s trial was about to start. Claire Sherwood showing up at this time was definitely related to her.

...

Just as Claire Sherwood was being thrown out of the complex’s entrance, a luxury car happened to drive in.

Claire Sherwood could tell the car was incredibly expensive, easily worth over ten million.

When the security guards saw the car, they all called out in a powerful, uniform voice, "President Blackwood."

’It’s Quentin Blackwood!’ Claire Sherwood hadn’t expected to run into him coming back. She had thought he was at home with Ivy Sherwood.

Claire Sherwood also shouted, "President Blackwood! President Blackwood!"

However, Quentin Blackwood paid her no mind. The car drove straight into the garage, leaving Claire Sherwood to shout after him.

Claire Sherwood was definitely not resigned to having missed him this time. She had just brushed past Quentin Blackwood; it had to be fate.

She knew it wasn’t easy to see Quentin Blackwood. It was practically impossible for her to contact him directly.

If Quentin Blackwood saw the Jade Pendant, he would surely meet with her. But Claire Sherwood couldn’t just show up with the Jade Pendant.

After all, given the circumstances back then, she hadn’t seen the person inside, so it was impossible for her to have known it was Quentin Blackwood who was locked up.

At the time, Claire Sherwood had seen Ivy Sherwood going over to deliver food every day and had sneered at her, thinking Ivy was crazy. ’Who knows what kind of thing is in there? Such an overflow of compassion. Trying to act like some kind of saint.’

Later, she happened to overhear Silas Blackwood and his friends bragging. They said Silas was impressive for locking up that illegitimate son and starving him.

Back then, no one really gave Quentin Blackwood a second thought. He was just an illegitimate son, while they were all young masters from wealthy, powerful families.

Although Claire Sherwood also thought Quentin Blackwood was good-looking, his status was beneath her consideration.

Later, she heard from Silas Blackwood’s circle that the old master seemed to be back, so they had to let Quentin Blackwood out.

When she saw Ivy Sherwood preparing to go out again, Claire Sherwood felt displeased. She then found an opportunity to have her father punish Ivy severely, locking her up. That day, Ivy wasn’t able to deliver the food.

Then, when Claire Sherwood passed by the doggy door over there, she only saw a lunchbox that had been pushed out from it. It was probably the one Ivy had delivered the day before.

Claire Sherwood opened it and found a Jade Pendant.

The Jade Pendant wasn’t particularly valuable—at least, Claire Sherwood didn’t think much of it—but she didn’t throw it away either and just kept it.

And it seemed Ivy Sherwood didn’t even know that the person was Quentin Blackwood.

After that, Claire Sherwood began to imitate Ivy Sherwood, handing out food to people everywhere and feeding stray cats and dogs to build up her public persona.

At the time, everyone around them said how kind Claire Sherwood was, and she gained a wave of attention because of it.

What she hadn’t expected was that Quentin Blackwood would later become so capable and turn into such a powerful figure.

So, she kept the Jade Pendant. And she felt that it would definitely be useful someday.

Quentin Blackwood probably didn’t know who the person outside the wall was back then, either. Claire Sherwood felt this was all an opportunity given to her by heaven.

That’s why she couldn’t just rashly appear with the Jade Pendant. She had to meet Quentin Blackwood a few more times and then, without leaving a trace, let him discover it himself.
