"I’m not a part of DG at all. I won’t be managing the company, nor will I make any decisions."

Ivy Sherwood tugged at Quentin Blackwood’s sleeve, signaling that his words were highly inappropriate.

She was just an outsider—a stranger appearing before them for the very first time. Yet, Quentin actually expected a room full of top executives to take orders from her. How was that even possible?

Moreover, Ivy genuinely had no intention of interfering with his company. She had only helped him review a few documents because she saw how exhausted he was from his overwhelming workload, and he had happened to ask for her input.

She wanted to reassure everyone so they wouldn’t take his declaration too seriously.

Quentin, however, remained resolute. "In short, no matter the situation, her words are my words. Is that understood?"

"Understood," they chorused. None of them dared to voice their objections, though they secretly seethed with dissatisfaction.

This woman must have seduced President Blackwood! Beauty truly led men astray, considering it had reduced even the ever-rational President Blackwood to such a state.

Wasn’t this effectively handing the entire company over to a woman?

What if this Ivy Sherwood hollowed out the company in the future?

President Blackwood would be left crying!

Still, even if she did issue orders, it wasn’t guaranteed they would obey.

While they usually followed President Blackwood’s commands to the letter, it didn’t mean they would blindly accept this kind of absurdity.

"Meeting adjourned," Quentin announced. The sole reason he had summoned all the executives and shareholders was just to deliver this one message.

The crowd quickly filed out of the conference room. As they left, many sneaked extra glances at Ivy, likely wondering where on earth her overwhelming charm came from.

Soon, the room emptied out, leaving only Quentin and Ivy behind.

"What are you doing?" Ivy demanded.

When he had gathered everyone, she assumed it was for a legitimate meeting. Instead, he simply ordered everyone to submit to her authority.

She hadn’t known about this beforehand. If she had, she would never have agreed to come with him.

"I just wanted them to know that your decisions reflect my thoughts," Quentin replied smoothly. "From now on, what you say goes."

"But I don’t need any of this! DG is your company, and I’m not even an employee here. They respect you because you’re capable and worthy of it. By suddenly thrusting me into the spotlight, they’re bound to resent it, and the fallout won’t be pretty. Anyone who doesn’t know better would think I’m some Delilah who has President Blackwood wrapped around her little finger."

Seeing her flustered and angry actually amused Quentin. "What if? In the future, my company will be yours anyway. When I’m old and can’t move, you’ll have to run it for me."

"No way. If you’re old, I’ll be ready for retirement too. I’m definitely not running your company for you."

Pausing for a breath, Ivy added, "You know I’m not with you for your company. DG might be a massive empire, but I have absolutely zero interest in it."

Quentin knew that, of course. Ivy had never coveted his wealth or status. Even in her own career, she had never asked for his help.

She had always been fiercely independent, valuing only what she earned through her own hard work.

He placed a hand on her head, gently stroking her hair. "I know. Whether you want it or not is your choice, but I still want to give it to you."

Even if it meant giving her everything he owned, he would do so willingly.

Knowing she couldn’t win this argument, Ivy sighed. "Then I’m not coming to the office with you tomorrow. Who knows what those people will be gossiping about me."

"Then I’ll issue a new company policy forbidding anyone from discussing you."

"Stop joking around. If you could mandate something like that, I’d be tempted to slap myself if I were your employee. Anyway, I’m not coming in tomorrow."

"You aren’t keeping me company tomorrow?"

"Edie and I are heading to the airport tomorrow. Several crucial overseas clients are flying in to inspect our company. We’re going to welcome them personally to show our sincerity."

"Then I’ll go with you."

"Why would you do that?" Quentin had more than enough on his plate already.

"I’m worried about you."

Ivy laughed. "Hearing you say that makes it sound like I can never go anywhere alone again. You’re treating me like some overgrown toddler who can’t survive without you."

"I’m the one who can’t survive without you."

It had always been this way. Quentin felt that he was the dependent one in their relationship, not the other way around.

After everything they had been through, just losing sight of her or knowing she was out alone made his heart race with anxiety.

He would be consumed by worry and fear.

"I’ll be perfectly fine. Stop being so paranoid. This is Aethelgard, and I’m just going to the airport. It’s not like danger is lurking around every corner. Just relax. Didn’t I hear you have some very important work tomorrow?"

Quentin indeed had critical matters to attend to, but he simply replied, "You’re more important than my work."

His straightforward declaration sent a warm rush through Ivy’s heart.

So, in his heart, she truly was his eternal priority!

Just knowing he felt this way was more than enough for her.

She reached out and suddenly threw her arms around him. In that moment, she just wanted to hold him close.

Quentin was pleasantly surprised by the sudden embrace.

"What’s wrong?" he asked.

Ivy held him tightly and shook her head.

It was nothing; she just felt unexpectedly emotional. Quentin wrapped his arms around her in return. Though neither spoke another word, they perfectly understood each other as their hearts pressed closely together.

The next day, Ivy stood her ground and went to the airport with Edie, leaving Quentin behind.

Aethelgard’s airport was exceptionally massive and bustling with crowds. Over at the international arrivals gate, streams of foreign travelers were pouring out.

Ivy and Edie waited for quite a while, but their overseas partners’ flight still hadn’t landed.

Seeing that they still had some time, Ivy decided to visit the restroom. Yet, as she walked out, she spotted a chillingly familiar face.

Meanwhile, in Lustre.

After recovering for two days, the Princess finally instructed Ayre to contact Ivy again.

Even Winter Mercer hadn’t been a match for her in the past. What threat could a mere Ivy Sherwood possibly pose?

Moreover, since Ivy was currently unaware of her existence, this was the perfect opportunity to strike.

Ivy could not be allowed to live. That woman’s child—who could potentially be her husband’s child—had to be eliminated. There was no way she would let Ivy survive.

But when the Princess ordered Ayre to make the call, Ayre replied, "Ivy went to Aethelgard a couple of days ago."

"She went to Aethelgard?" The Princess had been completely oblivious to this.

Ayre nodded. "Yeah. I even told you about it, Sister. You’ve grown increasingly forgetful these past two days."

Remembering something else, Ayre continued, "Also, my brother-in-law finished his business and came to Calypsos too. However, he didn’t take a private jet. He’ll probably have to catch a connecting flight from Aethelgard to Lustre."

"When does he arrive?"

"If we calculate the time, he’s probably landing right about now," Ayre estimated.

The Princess’s eyes widened in sheer panic. This meant that both Ivy and Ovillette were in Aethelgard at this very moment!

What if the two of them bumped into each other?

No, that couldn’t happen. Aethelgard was massive. How could they possibly run into each other?

The Princess desperately tried to convince herself that the probability was minuscule. It was absolutely impossible!
