Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close
Chapter 572: The King Saw Ivy Sherwood Faint Again
“Go call the King and ask him where he is right now!”
The Princess’s reaction was still extremely intense. Ayre replied, “I’ll call him right now.”
However, the King’s phone was turned off; the call wouldn’t go through at all.
Ayre asked, “Why are you reacting so strongly to his whereabouts?”
“I… I’m just worried about his safety,” the Princess stammered. “Calypsos is so dangerous, and he’s a head of state. What if he encounters an accident like I did?”
Her explanation was reasonable enough, so Ayre reluctantly accepted it.
The Princess felt deeply unsettled, terrified that Ivy Sherwood would meet with Ovillette.
“I’d like to rest a bit more. You can step out for now,” she said. “Let me know the moment you have news of him.”
The moment she was alone, the Princess quietly—and without even bothering to switch phones—called Jason Summers directly. In the past, during the few times they had contacted each other, she had always used a burner phone with a number no one knew belonged to her.
Jason picked up the call.
“It’s me,” the Princess said.
Before he could respond, she demanded, “Did you already know? Why did you keep it from me?”
“Know what?” Jason deliberately feigned ignorance.
“Ivy Sherwood! Don’t tell me you didn’t know she was Winter Mercer’s child!” the Princess yelled, her voice trembling with agitation.
There was a brief silence on the other end of the line. “I know,” Jason finally said.
“If you knew, why didn’t you tell me? This Ivy girl cannot be allowed to live!” The Princess had always been a ruthless woman.
“Stay out of this matter,” Jason replied. “I know what I’m doing.”
The Princess couldn’t see his face, but at that moment, Jason’s expression was utterly murderous.
“How can I stay out of it? You know that the moment she appears in front of Ovillette, everything will spiral completely out of control! Ivy is in Aethelgard right now, and so is Ovillette!”
“And whose fault is that?” Jason cursed. “It’s because you’re stupid! You just had to come to Calypsos. If you hadn’t come, would Ovillette have followed? Can you use your brain before you act next time?!”
“How dare you insult me! Jason Summers, you were the one who drugged Ovillette and Winter Mercer back then! If anyone goes down for this, it’ll be you first!”
After all, she and Ovillette were legally married. When the time came, he might just spare her life for the sake of their past affection.
“Regardless, if you want to live, keep your hands off this matter. Leave Ivy alone!”
Jason abruptly hung up, leaving the Princess trembling with fury.
Little did she know, her phone number had been monitored for quite some time.
The news quickly reached Quentin Blackwood’s ears. “President Blackwood, the Princess just made a call. We intercepted it—she dialed this domestic number.”
Quentin had already assigned people to keep a close eye on the Princess. Her sudden appearance in Lustre had been incredibly suspicious and obviously driven by a hidden motive. Because of this, his men had watched her like hawks, even monitoring her phone calls.
“Do we know the contents of the conversation?”
“I apologize, President Blackwood. We couldn’t trace that.”
After his men handed over the intercepted number, Quentin immediately ordered a background check on its owner.
The result? Jason Summers!
Quentin’s pupils contracted sharply. The Princess was calling Jason Summers?
These two people seemed to have absolutely nothing in common and lived in entirely different worlds. According to his previous investigations, the Princess shouldn’t even know Jason. Yet, here they were, acquainted behind everyone’s backs.
Recalling the Princess’s extreme reaction upon seeing Ivy, it was glaringly obvious that she must have met Winter Mercer in the past to show such an expression. But Xavier Mercer had mentioned before that the Princess shouldn’t have known Winter.
It appeared that the Princess and Jason were hiding a massive secret—one likely related to Ivy’s mother.
Realizing the gravity of this discovery, Quentin immediately called Xavier to share the news.
“I never expected these two to be connected,” Xavier said. “In my memory, Uncle Summers has always been a very decent person.”
“If that’s the case, his guard shouldn’t be too high around you,” Quentin suggested. “Find an opportunity to test the waters with him.”
“I will. You took Ivy to Aethelgard—you must ensure her safety.”
“I will,” Quentin promised.
“Quentin, my sister’s safety is truly in your hands now.” Xavier’s voice was deathly serious; this was no trivial matter. He knew this would place immense pressure on Quentin, but it was the only way to ensure the man would do everything in his power to protect Ivy.
“Rest assured, Xavier,” Quentin replied with solemn respect, fully embracing his role as a member of Ivy’s family.
After hanging up, Quentin ordered his men to maintain their surveillance on the Princess and Jason, and to dig deeper into the matter.
If the Princess and Jason shared a dark secret, what role did King Ovillette play in all of this?
Quentin had his subordinates track Ovillette’s whereabouts. He soon received word that Ovillette had already landed in Aethelgard.
“When?” Quentin asked.
“Just today. He should still be at the airport right now.”
Right now? Ivy was also at the airport. Wouldn’t the two of them run into each other?
An inexplicable surge of worry gripped Quentin’s heart. He wasn’t sure if Ovillette was a friend or a foe.
Grabbing his phone, he was just about to call Ivy when her name flashed across the screen.
“Ivy!” Quentin answered immediately.
“Quentin!” Ivy’s anxious voice came through the speaker. “Something terrible happened.”
“What happened? Are you okay? Are you still at the airport?” Quentin had already snatched up his car keys, ready to rush over.
“No, I’m heading to the hospital. But don’t panic!” Ivy added quickly. “I’m fine—it’s the King of Elandra.”
She was currently in an ambulance speeding toward the hospital. To be completely honest, she had no idea what had just transpired.
When Ivy had gone to the restroom earlier, she had unexpectedly run into the King. She was initially quite surprised to see him there of all places. Since they had met before, she politely greeted him. To her shock, the moment the King saw her face, he simply stood there, staring blankly at her.
Just like last time, his expression was incredibly complex—so much so that Ivy couldn’t even find the words to describe it.
Before Ivy could say anything else beyond a simple “Mr. Ovillette,” she saw him suddenly clutch his head in what looked like agonizing pain.
Ivy was absolutely terrified. The exact same thing had happened back in Elandra; the King had simply collapsed the moment he saw her, and she still had no clue why. The last time, his bodyguards had almost arrested her. This time, however, Ovillette seemed to have traveled alone, as there was no one else around him.
Left with no other choice, Ivy called for an ambulance and accompanied him to the hospital. Given Ovillette’s exceptionally prominent status, Ivy was terrified of any disastrous fallout she couldn’t handle, prompting her to call Quentin immediately.
