Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

Chapter 580: Was Quentin Blackwood's Guess Wrong?

“MMPH! MMPH!” the Princess tried to speak, but she couldn’t utter a single word through her gag.

She wondered who had the sheer audacity to kidnap her right outside the hospital! Calypsos was truly a terrible place, fraught with danger at every turn. To think they would be so brazen! Damn it! These people deserved to die! Once she returned to Elandra, she would have every last one of them executed. That would teach them the price of kidnapping a Princess!

She was confident that Ayre and Ovillette would find her soon and rescue her. However, to the Princess’s dismay, an entire day passed without a single bite to eat or any sign of movement. It seemed no one was coming to her rescue, yet her captors hadn’t done anything to her either.

In the hospital’s testing laboratory, Zion Landon was busy preparing to conduct a DNA test himself, the samples resting right beside him. Suddenly, a voice called out from the doorway. “Dr. Landon, one of your patients is in critical condition. We need you to come take a look immediately.”

“I’m in the middle of something right now,” Zion replied, unable to spare a moment.

“But the situation is extremely urgent, Dr. Landon. The patient has become manic.”

“I’ll be right there.” Zion set down his work and instructed an assistant to keep an eye on the samples, strictly forbidding anyone from touching them. What he didn’t see was that the moment he left, someone slipped in and swapped out the cigarette butt used for the sample.

Elsewhere, Jason Summers received a phone call. “Mr. Summers, your suspicions were correct. Quentin Blackwood has grown suspicious and is currently running a DNA test.”

Murderous intent flashed in Jason’s eyes, impossible to conceal. This Quentin Blackwood was truly a clever man. To think he could connect the dots without any inciting incident, concrete evidence, or glaring flaws—the young man’s intellect was genuinely formidable. If only Quentin were on his side, willing to follow his orders. Alas, he and Quentin were destined to be rivals. Perhaps in the future, they would even fight to the death. It would be quite a pity if Quentin had to die.

Fortunately, Jason had built up a formidable network of power over the years. On the very first day Ovillette was hospitalized, Jason had planted his own people in the hospital just in case. Sure enough, he knew this day would come. It was the classic case of the hunter becoming the hunted. He was going to show Quentin that there was always a bigger fish in the pond.

The next day, Quentin received a call from Zion. “The appraisal report is out.”

“What are the results?”

Before the results were finalized, Quentin hadn’t been sure if his theory was correct. A mere hunch didn’t prove anything.

Zion said, “Unfortunately, you were wrong this time. There is no biological relationship between Ivy Sherwood and him.”

Quentin wasn’t sure if this result should be considered expected. He had wondered if Ovillette and Winter Mercer had shared a past in their youth, only for the Princess to play some dirty trick that caused Ovillette to lose those memories. Now, it seemed he had just been overthinking it.

“Are you sure the results are accurate? No hiccups during the testing process?”

“I’m certain. I did everything myself and didn’t let anyone else interfere.”

“Alright, got it.”

Quentin hung up the phone. Ivy, who was standing behind him, asked, “What happened? What test results?”

“I asked Zion to run a DNA test. Seeing how strongly Ovillette and the Princess reacted to you, I thought Mom might have had some connection to the King. So, I had Zion test your DNA against Ovillette’s. As it turns out, I was likely just overthinking it.”

Ivy was stunned that Quentin would make such a bold guess. She hadn’t even dared to entertain the thought. The King’s daughter? How could she possibly be that lucky?

“Didn’t Jason Summers say I was his daughter?” Ivy pointed out.

“That’s just empty talk. Anyone can say anything; who knows what’s true and what’s false?” Quentin didn’t buy it for a second. After all, the Mercer family had previously acknowledged the wrong daughter, and that was all thanks to Caleb Blackwood pulling strings behind the scenes. This time, Zion had personally conducted the test, so Quentin was more inclined to trust the results. “Still, even if Ovillette isn’t your father, he definitely knows Winter Mercer. Let’s go to the hospital and visit him today, how about it?”

“Okay,” Ivy agreed. She would have visited Ovillette last time if the Princess hadn’t stopped her.

Just then, Quentin’s phone rang. It was the butler from his villa.

“Uncle Cole?”

“Sir, a gentleman who calls himself Mr. Ovillette is here to visit.”

“Have him wait in the reception room for a moment.”

Quentin hadn’t expected them to be on the exact same wavelength as Ovillette. Ovillette likely wanted to come see him—or perhaps, Ivy.

Quentin owned numerous properties in Aethelgard. He had several villas alone, all of which covered sprawling estates. His main residence was located in a prime area, built to absolute perfection. However, since he usually lived alone, he often stayed in his spacious penthouse. It was close to the company, and he and Ivy had been living there previously. Therefore, they had stayed at the penthouse for the past few days instead of returning to the main house.

Ovillette, on the other hand, had gone to the villa.

“Ovillette is at the house. Want to go meet him together?” Quentin asked.

“Sure.” It just so happened that Ivy wanted to see Ovillette too.

Quentin and Ivy set off together. It didn’t take long for them to arrive at his other property. The size of the estate was comparable to Norhaven, and the architecture had a very distinct, elegant charm. It was Ivy’s first time here, and she couldn’t help but marvel once again at the sheer wealth of this powerful man.

“Sir.” The butler immediately stepped forward when Quentin arrived.

Quentin gave a hum of acknowledgment, then said, “Her name is Ivy Sherwood. From now on, she is the lady of this house.”

A flicker of surprise crossed the butler’s eyes, but he promptly bowed his head. “Madam.”

“My name is Ivy Sherwood. You can just call me Ivy.” Being called “Madam” felt like far too heavy a title for her to bear.

Ovillette was already waiting in the reception room, so Quentin headed straight there.

Ivy paused at the door. “Should I wait outside for now?” She was worried that Ovillette might suffer another shock if he saw her.

Quentin walked in alone. The moment Ovillette saw him, he subconsciously peeked behind Quentin. “Where is Ivy? Isn’t she with you?”

“You seem incredibly interested in my fiancée, Mr. Ovillette.”

“I… I came specifically to thank her for taking me to the hospital last time. Where is she?”

Ivy was all Ovillette could think about these past few days. He had scoured the internet for news about her, poring over everything he could find, and had even ordered a full background check on her. He had also looked into Winter Mercer, staring blankly at the name for a long time, but there was frustratingly little information available about her.

The real reason for his visit today was simply because he wanted to see Ivy.
