Chapter 1562: Chapter 1552: Evening Party

Early in the morning, the room door opened, and a tall figure walked out, still wearing a hat and mask.

Due to the injury on his abdomen, he couldn’t engage in strenuous activity, but he was accustomed to going out for a walk.

Just as he lifted his foot, he saw a bouquet of sunflowers placed at the door.

He picked up the flowers and saw a card inside.

He opened it to see the words "Good morning" written on it, with no name left.

He glanced at the sunflowers in his hand, turned back inside to place the flowers in the room, then came out, closed the door, and went downstairs.

The innkeeper saw him and smiled, "Sir, good morning."

The man nodded slightly and prepared to walk to the door.

"Sir, I have prepared breakfast for you. Would you like to have it before heading out?"

The man stopped in his tracks, looked at the innkeeper, a sharp glint flashed through his light brown eyes.

The innkeeper found it hard to endure such a piercing gaze and, with a stiff expression, said, "Please, you must try it."

The man’s gaze suddenly swept over the dining table, where a breakfast was notably placed, a bowl of noodles, a heart-shaped egg, and a small dish of pickles.

He stared at the table for a long time, each passing moment was agonizing for the innkeeper, who thought he would get angry and kick over the table.

But to the innkeeper’s surprise, the man actually walked to the table, sat down, picked up the chopsticks, and began eating the noodles, very agreeably.

The innkeeper breathed a sigh of relief, and the smile on his face became even more genuine.

Because there was a matter to attend to in the kitchen, the innkeeper went over there, and by the time he returned, the man by the dining table had already left.

He went to collect the dishes, finding that the bowl of noodles was eaten clean, not a drop of soup left, and even the egg was completely gone.

The innkeeper stared at the empty bowl, puzzled, wondering if the noodles were really that good. Honestly, they looked quite bland, or was it that the person who cooked them had extraordinary skills to turn the ordinary into something magical?

The small town was very quiet in the morning, with stalls set up selling local specialty breakfasts, fruits, vegetables, the sounds of vendors hawking and people bargaining intertwined, full of life’s vitality.

Now with summer vacation not yet over, the children hadn’t gone to school and started playing early in the morning, chasing, laughing, adding a bit more joyful noise to the town.

He kept walking along this street until he reached that golden sea, his mood widened, yet the yearning in his heart had long become overwhelming, about to break through the dams and destroy everything.

People nearby had become accustomed to seeing this man here in the morning. Seeing him about to leave, an elder remarked, "Young man, you’ve got such a good build, haven’t you gotten married yet?"

Before he could speak, the elder continued, "Today is the Qixi Festival. We have events here tonight you must participate in. You might just bring a nice girl home." As she spoke, she stuffed a sunflower tied with a red string into his hand and then walked away.

The man looked at the sunflower in his hand for a long time, then took it and walked back.

The day quickly passed. As night fell and dinner was finished, the innkeeper had the attendants take guests to participate in the town’s events.

Many people here are from ethnic minorities, and Qixi is an important holiday; many new couples met on this day and then went on to get married. It can be said to be a large matchmaking day.

Many tourists stayed an extra night just to see the lively scene.

The man came downstairs and saw that the innkeeper was already waiting at the door.

Seeing the sunflower with the red string in his hand, the innkeeper smiled and said, "Sir, are you going to the Qixi evening event?"

"Hmm, lead the way," the man said in a calm voice, lowering the brim of his hat and walking out.

The innkeeper hadn’t expected his invitation to be so easily accepted and quickly followed him.
