A Warm Marriage After Rebirth
Chapter 325: Declare War (5)
Chapter 325: Chapter 325: Declare War (5)
Everyone else was also waiting for an answer. The two of them clearly knew each other; otherwise, how could Terrence Grant know so much about Seraphina Sterling? He even knew her decision to avoid relationships like the back of his hand!
"No!"
"Yes!"
They spoke in unison, but their answers were complete opposites. The crowd grew even more confused. What was the deal with these two? Had they known each other for a long time, or had they just met?
"Terrence Grant, what do you mean we’ve known each other for a long time?" Seraphina Sterling turned and glared furiously at the man who was lying through his teeth. She wasn’t sure if it was because too much had happened that day or simply because she was facing Terrence Grant, but her usual composure had vanished completely. She was acting just like anyone else her age—easily provoked, with a little flame of anger flaring up inside her.
"Isn’t a year a long time?" Terrence Grant raised a handsome eyebrow, his arrogant tone making it sound like a matter of course.
"That depends on how you look at it! Compared to the average person, we have known each other for a while. But compared to anyone else here, our acquaintance is probably the shortest, right? You all move in the same circles; if you didn’t grow up together, it’s close enough. In comparison, we’ve only known each other for a year. That’s not long at all!"
Seraphina Sterling was quite pleased with her own explanation. ’Yes, that’s right. He and Titus Thompson are childhood sweethearts, practically inseparable. What am I to him in comparison?’ ’Wait, why does that sound so... off?’ ’It sounds a little sour!’ Seraphina Sterling was very displeased with this realization and shook her head violently, trying to banish all these strange thoughts from her mind.
"If we use your logic, then yes, I have known them for a long time! But time doesn’t mean anything. My relationship with them is limited to mere acquaintance—just knowing which family they belong to! How could that possibly compare to how close we are?" Terrence Grant was already going off-topic.
"Our relationship isn’t close, okay? You’re Mr. Grant of the Grant Family, and these people are also from major, powerful families. Your relationships are tied together by mutual interests, so they should be much more solid!" Seraphina Sterling completely missed that Terrence Grant had gone off-topic and instead followed his conversational lead.
"But I’m your teacher! You’re my, Terrence Grant’s, very first student. So you tell me: who am I closer to, you or them? My connection with them is purely business. Closeness isn’t even a factor!" Terrence Grant’s gaze swept across the room. This time, he was telling the absolute truth.
Every single person there was connected to him by mutual interests. In their world, only connections based on profit and benefit felt truly solid.
Terrence Grant’s student?
A student of the Grant Family?
Every single person in that room had, at one point or another, been brought by their family elders to the Grant estate. They had all pleaded for the Grant Family to take them in and train them, to give them the ability to protect themselves and build a stronger physique. The Grant Family had started out with a security firm staffed primarily with retired or career veterans, and they possessed a unique training regimen. Anyone trained by the Grant Family would never have to worry about being kidnapped or threatened!
And yet, the Grant Family had never accepted a single one of them. So how was this Seraphina Sterling a student of Mr. Grant? Although Mr. Grant was arrogant and conceited, he had every right to be. When it came to fighting, he had never lost to anyone. Even Ethan Thompson, who was in the military, had never managed to defeat Terrence Grant.
The fact that even a playboy heir like Terrence Grant—who was seemingly only good for wining and dining—could be trained to be so formidable indirectly proved the immense value of the Grant Family’s training system. Countless people coveted it, but not a single one had ever succeeded in gaining access to it.
