Chapter 326: Chapter 326: Declaration of War (6)

Seraphina Sterling, of course, didn’t know what was so enviable about being Terrence Grant’s student. However, seeing everyone’s astonished expressions, she knew something was amiss. She couldn’t be so high-profile right now!

"He’s just a private tutor, what’s there to be proud of! Besides, I paid for the tutoring!" Seraphina Sterling pouted, deliberately covering up the fact that Terrence Grant had been training her. "It’s just high school material. Any private tutor could handle it!"

The two had a tacit understanding. When Terrence Grant heard Seraphina say this, he immediately understood her reservations. "Without my careful instruction, could you even have gotten into high school? So ungrateful!"

"I paid you, and you tutored me. It was just a transaction, mutually agreed upon. Gratitude has nothing to do with it!" Seraphina deliberately tried to distance herself from him, not wanting to cause any unnecessary misunderstandings among the crowd.

So, he was just a private tutor! Nothing to do with the Grant Family!

Everyone couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. Still, even if it was just for tutoring, Seraphina Sterling was impressive. Who in Aethelgard could possibly get *the* Terrence Grant to tutor them? What was so special about this Seraphina Sterling that even the Demon King of Chaos treated her differently?

This was also the first time Wyatt Gallagher had heard this explanation. He knew Seraphina Sterling and Terrence Grant must know each other, but he had no idea they’d had a brief teacher-student relationship! That meant they must have spent far more time together than he had with Seraphina! At that moment, a strong sense of crisis washed over Wyatt Gallagher.

"Terrence Grant, you’re into your own student? I can’t believe you’re a cradle robber!" Skylar Thompson glanced at Seraphina’s slender frame. She really couldn’t understand what Terrence Grant saw in her.

’A cradle robber?’ Terrence Grant’s brows furrowed deeply. Looking at the youthfully radiant Seraphina Sterling, he had to admit he was a bit older than her, but surely not enough to be called a cradle robber! "Am I that old?" Terrence Grant stared at Seraphina, asking with utmost seriousness.

"You are pretty old. At least, older than me!" Seraphina nodded with mock seriousness. Then, seeing his conflicted expression, she patted his shoulder. "Keep mulling it over, old man. I’m heading home." A warm smile finally returned to Seraphina’s face, her bright eyes flashing with a sly glint. She took advantage of his distraction and quickly slipped away.

Terrence Grant had been aware of their age difference before. He just thought that Seraphina Sterling was too young, and that it would take a very, very long time to coax her into his life. He felt it would be fine as long as he kept waiting and didn’t see any other issues. But after what Skylar Thompson just said, he too felt their age gap was a huge problem!

He didn’t like being called a cradle robber! ’Why couldn’t Seraphina have been born a few years earlier? Then they wouldn’t have this awkward age gap!’

If Seraphina Sterling knew what Terrence Grant was thinking right now, she would be speechless. It’s not like she could decide when she was born. ’If he’s so great, why wasn’t *he* born a few years earlier?’

And so, the monthly gathering of the wealthy heirs came to an end. Shannon Gable was left with a broken heart and an injured hand; Skylar Thompson was once again rejected by Terrence Grant. It was all familiar territory. The only exception, perhaps, was the appearance of the eldest daughter of the Sterling Family. Though she hadn’t done anything, her extensive social circle was what shocked everyone the most.

Seraphina Sterling had no time to waste analyzing what everyone else was thinking. Right now, the person she wanted to see most was Faye Sterling. She needed to find out how Faye had fared under Martin Quinn’s watch these past seven days.
