Chapter 731: 4 Academies, 4 Boss Monsters - 4

In other Academy Strongholds...

The Velerath Grand Academy was dealing with a six-armed, gorilla-like beast that was similar in height to Vorthuun, almost 50 meters when standing upright.

Ironjaw

That was the beast’s name. And since they only had 1 Summoning Shard, there were no minions.

The beast had an enormous, heavily muscled body and six powerful arms. Its dark skin was naturally covered by metallic plates growing across its shoulders, chest, upper back, and forearms.

Each gigantic arm ended in a fist roughly the size of a house. Its broad, brutal face, heavy jaw, and immense muscular frame gave it a look that could fill its challengers with terror.

But one person wasn’t scared at all and tackled the beast head-on.

It was Darren, the first-ranked student of Velerath. He had deep crimson hair and golden eyes.

Right now, his body was radiating an intense wave of chaotic red aura, or in other words, hell aura.

"HAAAHHHH!!!"

He jumped high above the 50-meter-tall beast from the ground level in a single push of his legs, ready to deliver a punch.

The gorilla beast also didn’t take him lightly and punched toward him.

BBBOOOOOOMMM!!

A loud explosion reverberated from the point of impact as an intense shockwave spread outward in a circle, uprooting nearby trees and throwing debris around.

Darren was launched back into the forest due to the impact, while the boss beast only recoiled its fist.

But the next second, five hell aura beams in a circular formation struck it across the chest, slowly travelling up its frame toward its face.

The metallic armour cracked under the force of the aura, forcing the gorilla to intercept the beams with its hands; the beams were so intense and corrosive that continued exposure to its palms made them bleed.

A lion-like beast had unleashed the attack, but unlike Kaelion’s regal lion, which had a yellow and orange aura, this lion had a deep, crimson aura.

Five aura spheres revolved around its head, releasing the aura beams.

It was a 12-meter-tall lion with a figure that looked straight out of hell.

The other students struggled to even get close to the fight; that was the disparity. They could only assist Darren by throwing explosives and corrosive poison to weaken the armour.

Suddenly, a huge meteor appeared in the sky and headed toward the gorilla.

Darren told the artefact handler to use it, and it literally dropped a large meteor on the spot.

The boss beast’s eyes narrowed, and he prepared to punch the meteor with all six hands at once, but of course, Darren wasn’t going to allow that. He charged again with the lion beast, and together, they distracted him.

That was for Velerath Stronghold.

At Elarion Stronghold, a unique beast had attacked. Yet another challenge without minions, since they had only 1 Summoning Shard.

It was a gigantic six-legged insectoid beast resembling a horrifying fusion of a rhinoceros beetle and a carnivorous plant. Its massive body was protected by thick green-black chitin and had countless thorn-like growths protruding from its armor.

The monstrous head carried enormous mandibles capable of crushing enormous objects.

And the final and most unique thing was the strange carnivorous flowers—extremely large—growing across its back, releasing clouds of spores around its towering body that had a mixed effect of poison and corrosion.

Thornmaw Colossus

Another large beast around 45 meters tall—60 if those flowers were counted.

But unfortunately for the beast, the Elves seemed to have a flame-based Domain Artefact that summoned a towering, razing flame tornado, sweeping around an area of 5 kilometres and continuously revolving around the enemies for 30 minutes.

In fact, many elves had flame as their major element too, which helped them suppress the beast to a great degree. And the spore attack, which would have been disastrous for the elves, was personally handled by the 1st-ranked female elf, who had the wind element and used it to blow them away in a safe direction.

She had a spirit Wind Wyrm as her beast, which released such sharp winds that they cut directly through the soft flowers on the back of the boss beast.

And finally, the Sunborn Royal Academy.

And it seemed they got the worst matchup.

Because the boss beast was a huge flying thunder beast, a hybrid of a bird and a raptor.

It possessed the powerful body of a giant predatory bird, seemingly fused with a wyvern.

Its long, muscular frame supported enormous wings spanning roughly 100 meters. Dark, metallic feathers covered its body, each one reflecting a cold, steel-like sheen.

Blue lightning constantly crawled across its plumage and wings. Its narrow, raptor-like head was framed by a vicious beak, while enormous hooked talons extended from its powerful limbs.

Zephyrax

Its minions were a diverse army of aerial and ground beasts, all marked by dark, stormy appearances and elemental energy.

Storm Talons resembled massive hawks with metallic feathers and crackling lightning, while Thunderwing Drakes possessed sleek blue-grey scales and narrow wings.

Gale Rippers were swift, bat-like creatures with four wings, whereas Cloud Serpents were long, wingless serpents that glided through the skies.

And then the Tempest Raptors—enormous flightless birds with muscular bodies, powerful legs, and dark feathers constantly stirred by swirling winds.

That is to say, the dragons were no less.

Except for a few, every body was capable of flight in their hybrid form.

So even if Leo’s team had eliminated 7 of them, the remaining 18 still included 10 usable men capable of flight.

Dragons could generally transform into hybrid form—except for very few exceptions—at the Pseudo 4-star realm. That meant they still had 10 men who were Pseudo 4-star and above, and, of course, Azrakar, Vorthak, and Vulcarion, who were Peak 4-star. With the advantage of their Draconic traits, they clashed on equal terms with the boss.

But the thunder bird’s speed was especially troublesome, especially its nasty dive attacks, which the boss used to dive into the lava and reach the stronghold beacon multiple times.

The first time, it had almost succeeded in destroying the beacon if not for Azrakar forcibly dragging the beast out of the lava while taking those paralysing electric shocks, which nearly cooked him from the inside.

But the dragons still refused to use their Domain Artefact for support; they were adamant about winning the 3rd phase without support.

And just like that, the hour slowly drew to its last minutes.

00:04:59

In Aurelius Stronghold, Leo finally lifted the [Mist Shroud] so others could see what was happening.

And that is to say, the sight caught everybody by surprise.

The students, both those of Aurelius and those watching the stream from outside the realm, then the audience, and even Aurex and Cyrandel, who couldn’t discern anything through the Mist wall because they weren’t present at the location.

Louis already knew what was happening because he was personally directing things and could watch anywhere with his spatial authority.
