Chapter 146: Are You My Sister?
Chapter 146: Chapter 146: Are You My Sister?
Sienna Everett helped pick up the water bottle, then turned to leave.
"Sorry, please wait!" the man in the wheelchair called out to her, his voice tinged with urgency.
Sienna Everett stopped and looked back at the man, her expression questioning.
It had rained all night, with the sun only emerging in the afternoon. Beneath the sky, now clear after the storm, her beautiful, glistening eyes seemed even more bright and limpid.
Looking at Sienna, a sense of familiarity washed over the man like a gentle spring, welling up inside him.
"Hello. My name is Ian Prescott."
Sitting in his wheelchair, the man looked up at Sienna Everett and introduced himself, articulating each word clearly.
Sienna Everett nodded slightly. "Hello."
Ian Prescott’s lips curved into a smile, making his already handsome face seem all the more striking.
Sienna Everett couldn’t help but think with a pang of regret, ’He’s so handsome, but it’s a shame his legs are disabled, forcing him to use a wheelchair.’
’Alas, what a shame. He seems so strong-willed despite his disability.’
Ian Prescott, unaware that he had already been typecast in Sienna Everett’s mind as a "resolute man with a disability," wheeled himself a little closer. "Actually, I came here specifically to see you."
Sienna Everett was confused.
’Specifically?’
Ian Prescott began to explain, his voice crisp and pleasant, "I saw the news yesterday, so I know you’re G.Y.’s chief designer, Kian. To be honest, my mother is one of G.Y.’s super members, and she absolutely loves the gowns you design."
At his words, Sienna Everett mentally searched her memory.
G.Y. had very, very few super members—only ten in the entire world.
Money alone wasn’t enough to become a G.Y. super member; one also needed immense status and standing.
Anyone who could become a G.Y. super member was, by definition, among the most prominent figures in the world in terms of status and standing.
’Prescott...’
Sienna Everett’s eyes lit up. She remembered.
Among G.Y.’s super members, there was indeed a very distinguished and elegant client known as Mrs. Prescott.
’Could she be the mother of the man in front of me?’
’In that case, is this Ian Prescott from the Prescott Family? The ancient, incredibly distinguished family with a history spanning hundreds of years, renowned as one of the four great financial consortiums?’
The Prescott Family’s sphere of influence was now mainly in Elysia. As for how rich and powerful they were, well, even the governments of many nations relied on the Prescott Family’s backing.
Sienna Everett sized up Ian Prescott in his wheelchair, finding it odd.
’I’ve never heard of anyone in the Prescott Family being in a wheelchair.’
’Could he be a con artist?’
Ian Prescott noticed Sienna Everett’s wariness and, rather than being offended, felt a sense of gratification. ’This girl is truly intelligent, not one to foolishly trust a stranger.’
Ian Prescott took out a membership card made of a unique material and held it out to Sienna Everett. "This is my mother’s membership card for G.Y."
Sienna Everett was all too familiar with the G.Y. membership cards; she had designed them herself. Only ten existed in the entire world, making them exceptionally rare.
Counterfeiting them was impossible. The card’s material was extraordinary; it refracted a faint purple light in the sun, and its unique texture was immediately apparent to the touch.
Sienna Everett knew with a single glance that the G.Y. membership card in Ian Prescott’s hand was genuine.
Ian Prescott continued, "My mother has always wanted to meet G.Y.’s chief designer, but you had never made any public appearances, so she never got the chance."
Sienna Everett offered a polite smile. "Perhaps we’ll have a chance to meet in the future."
Ian Prescott stared unblinkingly at Sienna Everett’s face and couldn’t resist asking, "I know you’re also a celebrity with a huge fanbase, and some of your personal information is online. I saw it... is the age listed there correct?"
Sienna Everett raised an eyebrow. "You’re that curious about my age?"
’He’s the first person who’s ever asked my age.’
Ian Prescott chuckled. "My apologies. It seems a bit forward to ask a woman her age."
Sienna Everett waved a dismissive hand, unbothered. "The age in my profile is correct," she said, her voice clear. "It’s not fake."
’It’s not like my age is some big secret.’
Although she had been lost since she was a child and grew up in an orphanage, she’d had a small gold lock with her that was engraved with her date of birth, so she knew her exact age.
When Ian Prescott heard her answer, his fingers, which were resting on the armrests of his wheelchair, suddenly clenched.
’It matches!’
’The age matches, too!’
This girl, Sienna Everett, was the same age as his long-lost sister!
A feeling swelled in Ian Prescott’s chest. His eyes were bloodshot from a sleepless night. "I spent all last night reading about you online," he said. "You’ve severed ties with the Everett Family? Were the Everetts awful to you?"
It wasn’t a secret, so Sienna Everett nodded, unconcerned. "Yes, I’ve severed ties with them."
Ian Prescott’s gaze suddenly turned ice-cold.
Even without confirmation that Sienna Everett was his sister, the mere thought of what the Everetts had done to her caused a savage rage to surge within him.
’Those scumbags from the Everett Family... how dare they bully her like that...’
Ian Prescott closed his eyes, forcibly suppressing the turmoil in his heart. His voice trembled slightly as he said, "My own sister was lost as a child, too. Her nickname is Isla... and we still haven’t found her..."
Sienna Everett was taken aback. ’So something like that happened in the Prescott Family, too.’
’Her nickname is Isla...’
Sienna Everett’s eyelashes fluttered as a strange, poignant sadness washed over her.
She, too, had been lost as a child. It was only because she was taken in by a kind grandpa and grandma that she was able to grow up healthy and safe.
Later, she found her biological family and returned to the Everett Family. Unfortunately, no matter how much she gave or how hard she tried to please them, the Everetts never liked her.
’A family like that was worse than no family at all.’
Sienna Everett hesitated for a moment before offering a soft-toned consolation, "I’m sure you’ll find your sister one day. Maybe she’s also hoping to be reunited with her family soon."
Ian Prescott watched her, a profound look in his eyes. "You’re right," he said. "Maybe she’ll be found very soon."
As they were talking, a stray dog suddenly ran up and began sniffing around Ian Prescott’s wheelchair.
Ian tried to wheel himself away.
But the path was covered in gravel, making it difficult to move the wheelchair.
Though this was the first time Sienna Everett had met Ian Prescott, she felt completely at ease with him. It was as if they were old friends reuniting after a long separation, bound by some invisible tie.
’It’s probably just because he’s easy on the eyes,’ Sienna guessed.
She kindly moved behind Ian Prescott, intending to help him with the wheelchair.
"Don’t worry about it. I wouldn’t want you to tire yourself out." Unwilling to let her exert herself over something as trivial as pushing his wheelchair, Ian Prescott promptly stood up.
Sienna Everett could only stare, utterly bewildered.
’What in the world is going on?’
She had just watched a man in a wheelchair suddenly stand up and agilely push it aside...
Sienna Everett blinked, and then blinked again. "You’re not actually disabled?"
