After a Flash Marriage With a Billionaire, My Brothers Are Begging for My Forgiveness!
Chapter 147: Mason Everett Is Missing
Chapter 147: Chapter 147: Mason Everett Is Missing
Ian Prescott’s lips curled into a smile. "I’ve gotten used to the wheelchair after a month. It feels uncomfortable not to be in it."
Sienna Everett: "..."
’This guy doesn’t seem very reliable all of a sudden.’
Just then, a man who looked like a butler approached, leading several sturdy bodyguards in black suits.
The butler walked to Ian Prescott’s side and greeted him in a low voice, "Second Young Master."
Ian Prescott gave a slight nod.
Sienna Everett’s gaze swept over the bodyguards. They wore uniform attire emblazoned with the Prescott Family crest.
Ian Prescott looked at Sienna, more nervous than he had ever been, and asked hesitantly, "Can I... call you Sienna?"
Sienna nodded indifferently. "Sure."
People who were closer to her all called her that.
A wave of ecstasy washed over Ian Prescott. He pressed his advantage, asking, "Sienna, can we exchange phone numbers?"
Sienna was about to nod and say yes.
But then she glanced at Ian Prescott’s perfectly healthy legs. He clearly didn’t have a limp, yet he insisted on using a wheelchair. ’Just how reliable is this guy, really?’
Ian Prescott saw the hesitation and concern in her eyes and was kicking himself. ’Why on earth did I have to come in a wheelchair!’
In a flash of inspiration, he suddenly thought of Evan Shelby and quickly said, "Evan Shelby co-founded G.Y. with you. He’s a founder too, and you two are good friends, right?"
Sienna’s eyes narrowed slightly.
Ian Prescott quickly explained, "I know Evan Shelby. You can ask him if you don’t believe me. We’re not close, but this way, we kind of know each other indirectly. Can I have your number?"
Sienna thought for a moment before finally nodding. "Alright."
After they exchanged numbers, Sienna left.
After walking a few steps, Sienna pulled out her phone and sent a message to Evan Shelby: "You up?"
Evan replied in seconds: "??? Look at the time. It’s already the afternoon. I’m not some lazy pig who sleeps in. Of course I’m up, okay?"
Sienna didn’t have the patience for his banter and got straight to the point: "You know Ian Prescott from the Prescott Family?"
Evan: "I know him, but not well. We’ve met a few times."
Sienna read Evan’s reply, her slender, pale fingers tapping the side of her phone twice. ’So he really does know him.’
Come to think of it, Evan was the descendant of nobility, his family being one of the ten great ancient families of Elysia. The Prescott Family’s sphere of influence was also in Elysia, so it made sense that the two would know each other.
Evan asked, confused: "Why the sudden question about Ian Prescott?"
Sienna thought for a moment, then typed: "Do you have a picture of him?"
Evan: "Yeah. He doesn’t usually show his face online, but I have a photo of him."
Sienna: "Send it over."
Evan sent it over quickly.
Sienna looked at the photo. Ian Prescott’s features were exquisite and handsome—it was the same man she had just met.
More importantly, the Ian Prescott in the photo was definitely not in a wheelchair and had healthy legs.
Evan was completely baffled: "Weird, why are you suddenly asking about Ian Prescott?"
Sienna didn’t hide it: "I just ran into him at the entrance of Sovereign Entertainment."
Evan: "He’s in Celestria?"
Sienna: "Yeah."
Evan: "Why would he be in Celestria? The Prescott Family’s business has almost no involvement there."
Sienna: "I don’t know either."
Evan: "By the way, now that your identity as G.Y.’s head designer is out, a lot of clients who love your dresses want to meet you in person. That includes socialites and noblewomen from several countries, and even the Royal Princess of Faeloria. Do you want to meet them?"
Sienna: "No time. I’m not meeting them."
Evan shook his head, amazed. She wouldn’t even meet a Royal Princess. "Alright, I’ll turn them down for you then."
After sending the message, Sienna put her phone back in her bag. She took a few steps and suddenly felt that something was wrong. It seemed like someone was following her.
Sienna’s brow furrowed slightly. She pretended not to notice and continued walking calmly.
After about a dozen steps, Sienna suddenly spun around. Just as she suspected, she saw a sneaky figure.
When the person saw her turn, they tried to duck to the side, but there was nowhere to hide. They could only turn their back to her in a futile attempt to conceal themselves.
Sienna let out a cold laugh and strode over.
Sienna had just rounded to the front of the person.
As if ashamed and not wanting to be seen, the person covered their face, turned around, and once again faced away from her.
Sienna frowned and moved to face them again.
Just as the person was about to dodge away again, Sienna suddenly recognized them. Her voice turned icy. "Mason Everett."
Hearing his name, the person’s body stiffened. He stood there, frozen.
Sienna almost hadn’t recognized him.
The Mason Everett before her had changed so drastically from his usual self.
He was still wearing the clothes from the design exchange gala the day before. It looked as if he had been soaked in the rain all night, never taking them off, and they had then been dried by the sun, leaving faint, yellowish stains.
His hair was a complete mess, tangled and disheveled from the rain and wind.
Overnight, a layer of bluish stubble had appeared on his chin.
How did he resemble the once illustrious president of the Everett Group, Mason Everett?
Looking at the wretched Mason, not a ripple of emotion showed on Sienna’s radiant face. The sight of him was an eyesore, and she turned to leave.
But Mason Everett reached out and blocked her path.
Sienna shot him a cold look.
Mason Everett hadn’t slept all night. He had been drenched by the rain, then battered by the morning wind, and was already running a high fever. His eyes were bloodshot and red from exhaustion.
After leaving the design gala last night, he hadn’t returned to the Everett Family home. Instead, he had wandered aimlessly through the rain all night, his legs swollen and numb.
He didn’t want to go back to the Everett Family, but he didn’t know where else to go.
He didn’t want to answer the calls from The Everetts, so he eventually just turned off his phone.
Unconsciously, he had walked through the rain all the way to the entrance of Sovereign Entertainment.
He had been standing there since morning without a drop of water to drink, and finally, in the afternoon, he saw Sienna arrive at the company.
Like a thief who couldn’t bear the light of day, he secretly watched Sienna walk into the company, secretly watched her come out, and secretly watched her talk to a man in a wheelchair.
Then, without a second thought, he began to follow her quietly.
But he was discovered by Sienna after only a few steps.
Now, meeting Sienna’s indifferent, emotionless gaze, Mason Everett opened his mouth, but his voice, hoarse from the high fever, didn’t know what to say. "I..."
Sienna had no patience for his nonsense. "Move."
The chill in her voice was bone-deep.
Although Mason’s body was burning with fever, he felt a sudden freeze, as if he had bitten into a sour lemon. The acidity spread straight to his heart, so sour it nearly brought tears to his eyes.
Sienna paid him no more mind and walked away.
She had only taken a few steps when she heard a THUD behind her, the sound of someone falling.
Sienna’s steps faltered for a moment, but she didn’t turn back. She kept walking forward.
Mason Everett, sprawled on the ground, watched her resolute figure walk away. His body trembled and convulsed as he struggled to get back up from the ground...
...
A few days later, Sienna heard that Mason Everett had disappeared. He was nowhere to be found.
