Chapter 186: Baby, You Lost
Chapter 186: Chapter 186: Baby, You Lost
The corners of Simon Sinclair’s eyes tilted upward. "When it comes to you," he said matter-of-factly, "of course I’m always paying attention."
"..."
Sienna Everett pretended not to hear him and asked casually, "So, you know the test results, then?"
"I do." The man made no secret of it, his charming eyes filled with an inscrutable smile. "I was rather hoping you’d turn out to be the Prescott Family’s long-lost daughter."
"Why?" Sienna Everett asked, surprised.
He looked down at her and said with mock seriousness, "If you agree to let me pursue you, I’ll tell you."
"...Are you nuts!"
Sienna Everett’s face clouded over. Seeing him still perched on the balcony railing, she reached out to shove him.
But as her hand shot out, he saw her coming and simply sat there, smiling, without making any move to dodge.
A knot of frustration formed in Sienna Everett’s chest. She shot him a glare and snatched her hand back, speechless. "Well, sorry to burst your bubble, but your wish didn’t come true. I have nothing to do with the Prescott Family."
Simon Sinclair’s gaze fell to her hand as he asked lazily, "Why stop?"
Sienna Everett’s expression was frosty. "I don’t want to touch you."
He chuckled. "Then I’ll just have to make you."
With that, he reached out his hand. His fingers were long with well-defined knuckles, his pale skin almost translucent, like fine jade.
Sienna Everett was dumbfounded. ’Who on earth insists on someone touching them?’
Her expression remained impassive as she took a step back, dodging his touch. "I thought you disliked the ocean. So why bring me here?"
His hand met empty air. He lightly rubbed his fingertips together, not at all angry. In fact, his charming eyes held a smile. "So you remember my preferences? Knowing me so well, are we?"
"..."
’Hah.’
He swung himself off the balcony railing and walked over to her, raising a slight eyebrow. "I don’t like it. But you do, baby."
Sienna Everett was speechless for a moment. She did like looking at the ocean, just not with him.
She frowned and asked, "You said I promised you something once. What was it? I honestly can’t remember. My memory’s bad."
The man tsked, his words hitting their mark. "Bad memory? You just don’t consider anything related to me worth remembering."
"...Why don’t you just tell me?"
He tilted his head, a wicked smile playing on his lips. "Where’s the fun in that? You have to remember it on your own, you little ingrate."
"...You’re the ingrate!" Sienna Everett scoffed, turning her back on him.
Her gaze drifted to the beach outside.
The private beach was part of the villa’s property, allowing for a seaside stroll at any time. However, there were bodyguards patrolling the area around the house.
Sienna Everett’s brow furrowed. "You said before that Julian Forrester has been secretly trying to stop you these last few days. Is that true?"
Simon Sinclair shot her a sideways glance. "Is it necessary for me to lie to you about something so trivial?"
Sienna Everett immediately seized on his slip of the tongue. Pointing at him, she said, "So you *have* lied to me before."
Her accusation made him laugh. He stroked his brow bone with slender, pale fingertips, his chest vibrating slightly with amusement. The gloom that often clouded his features dissipated, and his voice held a pleased, sensual quality. "Honestly, baby. My mood improves every single time I see you."
"..."
Sienna Everett didn’t rise to the bait. She mulled it over. ’So that’s it. No wonder Simon Sinclair hasn’t been pestering me lately. Julian Forrester must have been running interference.’
’When did Julian Forrester find out about me and Simon Sinclair?’
"Want to make a bet?" Simon Sinclair suddenly said.
"Bet on what?" Sienna Everett raised a brow, her interest instantly piqued.
The man tucked one hand in his trouser pocket and leaned lazily against the balcony railing. The sea breeze pressed his black silk shirt against his torso, revealing the faint outline of his abs.
He lowered his gaze to her vivid face. "Let’s bet on whether or not Julian Forrester will come for you."
Sienna Everett thought for a moment before replying, "Probably not."
’Keith Sterling must know I’m missing by now. But Julian Forrester is back in the country. Even if Keith tells him, he won’t be able to get overseas on such short notice.’
Simon Sinclair held up an index finger, wagging it gently. "Baby, you’ve already lost."
