Seeing the way Lang Qiu’s lips were pressed together, Bai Zhi realized this was the first time she had ever seen him with such a pained and troubled expression.

Lang Qiu had always struck her as a very serious and upright Beastman, meticulous in everything he did. His expression never changed, no matter the situation.

Bai Zhi stepped in to ease the tension. “That house is also Lang Qiu’s, so he can decide who lives there. You two must not have seen each other in a long time. This is a good chance for a reunion.”

Hearing Bai Zhi’s words, Lang Qiu looked at her with a complex gaze, but it was also tinged with gratitude.

Then, he turned to Lang Yue and said, “Let’s go. Take Xiao Yu and come with me to my new place. Now that I’ve run into you, there’s no way I can just leave you to fend for yourselves.”

Fearing he would refuse, he added with a serious face, “If you still recognize me as your Chief, you are not allowed to say no.”

Lang Yue, who had already opened his mouth to speak, silently closed it.

He then quickly gathered the hides from the ground. “Chief, I’m all packed.”

Seeing he was ready, Lang Qiu turned to Bai Zhi and the others. “Wife-master, you all go on ahead with your shopping. I’ll get them settled and head back on my own later.”

Guessing they wanted some time alone, or perhaps had a side they didn’t want others to see, she nodded. “If you need any help, just let me know. Do you remember where the house is? You all registered your fingerprints last time.”

Lang Qiu nodded. “I remember.”

Bai Zhi thought for a moment and left her Flying Sports Car behind. “You’ll definitely need a car. Take this one.”

After setting it down, she said, “We’ll be going now.”

As they left, Yue Junxiao looked back and shouted, “Call us if you need anything~”

Lang Qiu stared after Bai Zhi for a long moment before remembering to reply to Yue Junxiao, “Okay.”

Watching them leave, Lang Qiu opened the car door, got in, and turned to Lang Yue. “Get in. We’ll go get Xiao Yu first.”

After getting in the car, Lang Yue curiously touched this and that. “This car is huge! It must be really expensive, right?”

Lang Qiu grunted in affirmation.

Lang Yue continued to ask curiously, “Chief, who was that female? Is she your wife-master?”

Lang Qiu nodded. “Yes.”

Lang Yue leaned against the window, looking outside. “No wonder. A good Chief finds a good female.”

“This is great. The Chief has a female now, and she’s so beautiful. I wonder when Xiao Yu and I will ever find females.” He sounded wistful, but after speaking, he asked Lang Qiu hesitantly, “Should we not have appeared?”

Lang Qiu took a moment to reach out and rap him on the head. “There’s no ‘should’ or ‘shouldn’t.’ If I had known you’d left the clan, I would have come to get you myself.”

Even though he’d been hit on the head, Lang Yue’s eyes welled up with tears as he cried out emotionally, “Chief…”

Even with the car, it still took them some time to get there.

Lang Qiu looked at the dilapidated surroundings, and it wasn’t hard to imagine the conditions inside. ‘Thank goodness they ran into me. Thank goodness I came.’

‘I only agreed to step down back then because that person promised to treat them well. And yet, this is what they’ve been reduced to.’

‘If I had known it would be like this, I would have protected them with my life and never left the clan.’

‘But what happened back then couldn’t be explained in just a few words.’

‘If they hadn’t clashed, if Xiao Lan hadn’t died, if… if…’

‘There were too many “what ifs.”‘

‘But what’s done is done. Lang Tai and the others are already dead. The most important thing now is to take Lang Yue and Xiao Yu back and care for them properly.’

Lang Yue glanced at Lang Qiu, hesitating. He wanted to tell him not to go in, that he would go get Xiao Yu and carry him out. But he had a feeling that if he dared to say that, Lang Qiu would not only refuse but probably hit him, too.

So he gritted his teeth and gave Lang Qiu a heads-up. “Chief, it’s a bit dirty in here. You should be careful.”

Lang Qiu just said calmly, “I’ve stayed in filthier places. Lead the way.”

Opening the door, the inside was even worse than Lang Qiu had imagined. He never thought a place this dilapidated could exist on the Main Star.

Lang Qiu frowned. “How much did you pay to rent this place?”

Lang Yue scratched his head in embarrassment. “200 Star Coins.”

Just as he finished speaking, a large cloud of dust suddenly fell from the ceiling.

Lang Yue, who was in the middle of talking with his mouth open, got a mouthful of dust. He choked and coughed until his face turned red. “PFFT, COUGH, COUGH, COUGH…”

“It’s not usually like this. I don’t know what’s wrong with it today…” As he spoke, his voice grew quieter and quieter.

Hearing the noise outside, Xiao Yu’s weak voice called from inside, “Brother, are you back?”

Lang Yue said excitedly, “Xiao Yu, look who I found!”

Lang Yue led Lang Qiu into the room. Lang Yu was just getting out of bed. The moment he looked up and saw Lang Qiu, his eyes reddened instantly. His voice choked with sobs as he cried, “Chief… SOB, SOB, SOB… Is it really you? I’m not seeing things, am I?”

Lang Qiu looked at Lang Yu, who was much thinner than when he had left. His Adam’s apple bobbed. “Yes, it’s me.”

Then he said, “We can catch up later. For now, pack your things so we can leave this place.”

Lang Yue subconsciously grumbled along, “Oh, right, right. I got a mouthful of dust when I came in just now. You really get what you pay for. This has happened so many times.”

After saying that, he realized he had just claimed it didn’t usually happen. ‘Haven’t I just given myself away?’

Fortunately, Lang Qiu’s attention wasn’t on him, so he didn’t say anything.

Lang Yue packed their things in a flash. It was mainly because they didn’t have much. If Lang Yu hadn’t been here, he wouldn’t have even needed to make a special trip back.

Lang Yue slung their belongings over his shoulder. “Let’s go.”

Lang Qiu: “…”

He took the things and put them in his spatial storage.

Lang Yu didn’t ask where they were going and just followed obediently. He would go wherever his brother went, and wherever the Chief went.

Lang Qiu drove back to Bai Zhi’s house. They had only been there once before, just to see where it was.

Although Bai Zhi had told him he had the right to use it as he pleased, he still led them to the guest rooms farthest away. “You two can stay in these two rooms. Give me your account number. I’ll transfer you some Star Coins. The first thing is to take Xiao Yu to see a Healer. Letting this drag on is not a solution.”

Besides buying them clothes, Bai Zhi would also give them some Star Coins for spending money. She was very generous, usually giving them around 10,000 each time. He rarely spent any, so he had a lot saved up.

At first, Lang Yue was unwilling, but then he looked at the sick Xiao Yu. It had already been a long time. If he’d been able to earn enough Star Coins, he would have taken him to a Healer as soon as he got sick. Why would he have let it drag on for so long?

After some thought, he gave his account number to Lang Qiu, then said with a serious expression, “Chief, I won’t take these Star Coins for free. I’ll work hard to earn them back and repay you.”

Lang Qiu transferred 50,000 Star Coins to them. “Use this for now. If it’s not enough, tell me. We can talk about repayment later.”

In truth, he had no intention of ever taking the money back, but he understood Lang Yue, so he didn’t say so outright.
