When Lang Yue received the Star Coins and saw all the zeroes, he was shocked. “This is so much!!”

Lang Qiu said, “I have no use for it. Xiao Yu’s illness has dragged on for too long. We need to find a good Healer and get him proper treatment. Don’t worry about the cost. For now, just stay here and don’t overthink things.”

Lang Yue was about to say something else, but Lang Yu pulled him back. “Thank you, Leader,” Lang Yu said.

Lang Yu smiled and added, “If you have something to do, you can leave first. We can handle the rest on our own.”

Lang Qiu was surprised that Lang Yu had seen through him. He couldn’t quite understand it himself. He had planned on getting them settled, taking Xiao Yu to a doctor, and catching up on the past few years. But for some reason, he suddenly felt a strong urge to go back early. ‘It’s my turn tonight.’

Lang Qiu admitted it openly. “I do have something to take care of. If you need anything, just send me a message. I’ll bring some more things for you tomorrow.”

Hearing this, Lang Yue quickly said, “Leader, if you’re busy, please go ahead. Don’t worry about us. We have Star Coins and a place to live now. Things are already so much better than before.”

Lang Qiu nodded, gave them a few more instructions, and left the door access chip behind before he departed.

After seeing Lang Qiu off, Lang Yue returned and asked quizzically, “Xiao Yu, why did you stop me just now? Fifty thousand! How long will it take us to pay back that many Star Coins to the Leader? What if he needs them? He gave them all to us, what will he use for money?”

Lang Yu coughed twice and reminded him, “Have you forgotten that the Leader dislikes it when we disobey his orders? Besides, he already transferred the money. Sending it back would be a slap in his face, wouldn’t it? What’s more, we really do need these Star Coins. With this startup capital, we can do what we want to do, and only by earning Star Coins can we pay him back. We can’t be a burden to the Leader. If anything, we need to become his safety net.”

At his words, Lang Yue understood. “I was in such a rush I almost forgot,” he said immediately. “This house we’re staying in belongs to the Leader’s wife-master. I just saw that female and her other Beast Husbands. They seem rich and powerful—very distinguished. We really do need to work hard to become the Leader’s support so that no one can look down on him!!”

Hearing this, Lang Yu couldn’t help but cough a few more times. “It’s all our fault for dragging the Leader down. If it weren’t for us, he never would have left the clan back then, and he wouldn’t have to be so careful around others now.”

At the mention of what happened back then, Lang Yue’s face filled with resentment.

Then, he gathered himself and said, “Let’s not talk about the past. It’s still early. I’ll take you to get treated first. We have money now, so we can hire a good Healer. Once you’re better, we’ll figure out a way to earn money.”

Lang Yu nodded. It was the only way forward for now.

The two of them quickly put their things away and went out.

When Lang Qiu got back, Bai Zhi and the others had also returned from their shopping trip.

Bai Zhi was curled up on the sofa watching a drama. Hearing a noise, she looked up and saw Lang Qiu, who had returned early. She was a little surprised. “You didn’t stay with them a bit longer?”

Lang Qiu looked directly at her and stated in a level tone, “No. They’re not three-year-olds. I just got them settled in and came back.”

Yue Junxiao came out of the kitchen with a dish and was surprised for a moment to see Lang Qiu standing in the living room talking to Bai Zhi. But he immediately said, “Eh? Lang Qiu, you’re back? Just in time, dinner’s almost ready.”

During dinner, no one asked Lang Qiu who those people were. They gave him a great deal of freedom. If he wanted to talk about it, they would listen. If he didn’t, they wouldn’t ask.

But not asking didn’t mean they didn’t care. While they were eating, Hu Yan asked, “Do you need our help?”

Lang Qiu was slightly taken aback. “Not for now. If I do, I won’t hesitate to ask.”

Hu Yan nodded.

That evening, Lang Qiu went to Bai Zhi’s room early.

When Bai Zhi came out of the bathroom, she saw Lang Qiu sitting on the bed waiting for her. She paused for a moment, then casually started drying her hair. “Are they settling in okay? I’ve never stayed over there. If they’re missing anything, just send some things over.”

“Thank you, wife-master,” Lang Qiu said. “They aren’t lacking anything.”

He then seemed to feel that was a bit stiff and continued, “Xiao Yu has already seen a Healer. The treatment was very effective; one more visit and he should be fully recovered. They wanted me to thank you.”

Walking toward her vanity, Bai Zhi said, “Your friends are my friends. I didn’t do much. That house was just sitting empty anyway. Having them live there adds a bit of life to the place.”

Lang Qiu stood up, walked over to her, and took the towel from her hands, beginning to dry her hair for her.

Bai Zhi was only slightly startled before letting him help.

Lang Qiu was silent for a few seconds before he spoke. “I remember you said the star system you purchased is under construction?”

Bai Zhi understood his implication. Lang Qiu was actually quite easy to read. He rarely made small talk, so asking about this now was clearly for the sake of his two friends.

Bai Zhi smiled. “Are you asking if they can help out? Of course. I was just worrying about not having anyone to keep an eye on things for me. If they’re willing, it would be a huge help. I asked Zelda about it before. Hiring someone costs about 10,000 Star Coins per person. I’ll offer them ten thousand as well. Do you think that’s too little?”

Lang Qiu’s hands paused as he was drying her hair. He had been there the day Bai Zhi asked. Ten thousand Star Coins was the salary for high-level personnel; an ordinary Beastman would only get around six thousand. Lang Yue and his friend didn’t even meet the most basic qualifications. Anyone else wouldn’t have even considered hiring them.

For a moment, that same indescribable feeling surfaced again.

He did his best to ignore it and said softly, “No, that’s already a very high amount. Thank you, wife-master.”

After Lang Qiu finished blow-drying Bai Zhi’s hair, they got into bed. He felt a faint sense of anticipation for what was about to happen.

That night felt strange, completely different from before, but he couldn’t put his finger on what had changed.

「The next day」

Lang Qiu brought them some supplies. He asked where the others were buried and learned from them that they had all been exhumed and reburied on a mountain.

He then told them about the offer to help out in Bai Zhi’s star system. Lang Yue and Lang Yu first asked, “Leader, did you have to ask for this job for us?”

Lang Qiu was silent for two seconds before answering, “Not really. My wife-master’s star system happened to need people to keep an eye on things. She was already looking into it, and you two were a good fit.”

Everyone knew what that brief two-second silence meant, but they all tacitly agreed not to say it out loud.

‘The Leader has already done so much for us. If we don’t go, wouldn’t we be wasting his kindness?’

‘Besides, that’s ten thousand Star Coins!!’

The two of them said resolutely, “Okay, we’ll go.”

After sending the two of them to Bai Zhi’s star system, Lang Qiu didn’t stay idle. He told Hu Yan and the others, “I need to leave for a few days to go back and take care of some things.”

When Yue Junxiao heard he was leaving, he immediately perked up and rubbed his hands together eagerly. “Going back? Take us with you! We’re just sitting around anyway, and we’ve never been to your territory before.”
