After Pampering Her 5 Beast Husbands, the Villainess Struck It Rich
Chapter 240: Sending Them Back to the Wolf Clan
At these words, Lang Qiu paused before shaking his head. “I’m just going back to take what’s rightfully mine. It’s not a pleasure trip.”
Yue Junxiao could tell Lang Qiu didn’t want them to follow and opened his mouth to protest, but Hu Yan shot him a look for a few seconds before speaking to Lang Qiu. “You know where the Starship is parked, right? Do you need Beast Cores or weapons?”
After a moment’s thought, Lang Qiu nodded. “I do.”
Hu Yan pulled the items from his spatial storage and handed them to Lang Qiu. “These three Beast Cores can give you an emergency boost of spiritual power. This is a new weapon from the military, and this is the Starship key. There are also ten million Star Coins in here. If you need help, call me anytime.”
He then looked at Lang Qiu and said, “Come back safe. We’ll be waiting for you at home.”
Lang Qiu nodded solemnly. “Okay.”
Bai Zhi hadn’t expected Lang Qiu to drop such a bombshell the moment he returned. While he was talking with Hu Yan, she used her system to acquire some weapons and defensive equipment.
Hu Yan had already provided the basics, so she focused on getting him some even more powerful weapons.
After all, when it came to advanced weaponry, nothing produced by the system had ever been outmatched.
Even its food ingredients were far more delicious.
When it was time for him to go, everyone tacitly went inside, leaving Lang Qiu and Bai Zhi alone together.
Bai Zhi brought out a pile of items for Lang Qiu. They were so heavy that he had to help her with them. “Take these weapons. I’m sure you’re more of an expert on how to use them than I am. I know you have the other essentials, but I prepared a little more anyway. As for the rest… you don’t have to say anything, and I won’t ask. All I want to say is, come back soon, and come back safe.”
An intense emotion flickered in Lang Qiu’s dark eyes, but he said nothing. He simply pulled Bai Zhi into a hug and whispered in her ear, “Wait for me.”
And with that, he left.
After Lang Qiu was gone, Hu Yan came back outside and walked to Bai Zhi’s side. “Don’t worry. Lang Qiu is a cautious man. He wouldn’t do this if he wasn’t sure he could handle it.”
“I know. He’s always been a man of action, not words. You can always feel safe when he’s in charge of something.” Bai Zhi said, turning to look at Hu Yan. “Didn’t you go inside? Why are you back out here?”
Hu Yan replied, “I came out to see how you manage to treat us all so fairly.”
Bai Zhi: “…”
“I’ve given you far more than I’ve given anyone else.”
Hu Yan chuckled. “Yes, I saw.”
Knowing he was just teasing her, Bai Zhi couldn’t resist swatting him lightly and grumbling, “You’re so cheeky.”
But Hu Yan’s teasing did manage to dispel her worries. She gave him a gentle push. “Come on, let’s go inside.”
Lang Qiu’s people had always lived deep in the mountains. They were a rather traditional clan, the Wolf Totem Clan, and he was their former chieftain. The entire Dayan Mountain belonged to their Wolf Clan.
They lived as hunters, and while they maintained some of their primitive customs, they also interacted with the outside world. They imported many modern goods and even sent their heirs away for a formal education.
In their clan, however, Healers weren’t called Healers. They were known as Shaman Healers.
Lang Qiu traveled for a long time before finally reaching the Dayan Mountain Range.
The Dayan Mountain Range was vast; an ordinary person could easily get lost and might never find their way out.
Lang Qiu arrived outside the village walls and made no attempt to conceal himself. He wanted them to see him.
The clan guards spotted him from a distance, their expressions a mixture of fear and excitement.
“It’s Lang Qiu! The Chieftain is back!”
“What chieftain! Our current chieftain is Lang Lie! If he hears you, you’d better watch your hide!”
“Hurry and inform the chieftain!”
The moment Lang Lie heard Lang Qiu had returned, he scrambled out of his lover’s embrace and rushed to the village gate. After confirming that it truly was Lang Qiu, his eyes narrowed and he bellowed, “Lang Qiu, what are you doing back here? You swore an oath when you left that you would never return to the clan. What, are you trying to go back on your word now?”
Lang Qiu’s gaze was piercing. “I did swear that oath when I left. But I also said that if you bullied them, I would be back to settle the score!”
At these words, Lang Lie’s heart sank. ‘It must have been that bunch of worthless fools stirring up trouble,’ he thought.
Lang Lie said sullenly, “They chose to leave on their own. It’s not like I forced them out. What was I supposed to do, tie them down?”
Lang Qiu replied, “As chieftain, if you can’t protect your own wolves, then it’s time for a new wolf to take the seat!”
His tone was even, but Lang Lie felt an icy chill from his words that sent a shiver down his spine.
But a second later, his expression darkened. ‘I’m the chieftain now. I have no reason to be afraid of Lang Qiu.’
He then roared, “I suggest you leave now, or don’t blame me for what comes next!”
Lang Qiu simply drew his weapon and began to fight his way in.
When Lang Lie saw that Lang Qiu was actually SS-level, he panicked completely and screamed, “SS-level!! Quickly! What are you all gawking at? Stop him!”
“But he’s SS-level!”
All the Beastmen were terrified and hesitated to advance.
On one hand, it was because Lang Qiu was their former chieftain. On the other, it was because he was simply too powerful.
The faction that had left with Lang Qiu had included most of the stronger members. Since their departure, the clan’s number of experts had dwindled significantly. Now, the strongest among them was only at Peak S-Class.
Lang Qiu had shown extraordinary talent from a young age. The old chieftain had personally taken him under his wing to train him. After the old chieftain’s accidental death, Lang Qiu, then only fifteen, ascended to the position of chieftain. In just a few short years, he had brought about a monumental transformation in the clan, and their lives had improved significantly.
If Lang Lie hadn’t colluded with others to frame him for that incident, Lang Qiu would never have left, and Lang Lie certainly would never have become chieftain.
That’s why his first reaction upon seeing Lang Qiu was fear and apprehension. Now, knowing he was at the Peak of SS Level, his dread intensified.
Lang Lie fled all the way back to his room. Listening to the sounds of battle outside, his entire body trembled.
A female dressed in a sheer, gauzy robe called out in a sweet voice, “Chieftain, why are you back so soon?”
But Lang Lie was in no mood to deal with her. He quickly gathered his valuables and fled.
Seeing this, the female immediately understood what was happening. She scrambled after him. “Chieftain, take Mei’er with you!”
The moment the female stepped outside, she heard the sounds of fighting, which only confirmed her suspicions. She grabbed hold of Lang Lie, making it clear that if he didn’t take her, he wasn’t going anywhere either.
With no other choice, Lang Lie had to take her with him.
Lang Qiu didn’t kill anyone; he only subdued them.
They were his own people, after all. Even though most of them had been bribed by Lang Lie and had taken his side back then, the old chieftain had loved the Wolf Clan deeply. He certainly wouldn’t have wanted Lang Qiu to massacre his own kin.
After subduing them, Lang Qiu simply tied them up. Then, from his spatial storage, he took out the ashes of Lang Tai and the others. The most important reason he had returned was to bring them home to the Wolf Clan.
