Alpha's Regret: The Seventh Time was Forever

Chapter 804: Chapter 804 – I’m sorry, I need to go
After their meeting with Ravyn, Corvine and the other leaders took some time to rest before deciding to hold another leadership meeting the following day, immediately after training. This time, however, the Alpha King would not be attending.
Voren had already assigned Corvine the responsibility of overseeing the new leadership arrangements, and all that remained was for him to submit a detailed report on the progress made and the decisions reached.
Nevertheless, Corvine understood that the recruitment process needed to be completed before Kael and Damon could be relieved of their current responsibilities.
They couldn’t simply walk away from their positions without ensuring that there were capable replacements ready to take over.
During the meeting, he presented everything they had discussed concerning the restructuring of the leadership system following the drafting of the new Alpha’s Code. However, he was in for a surprise when Jasmine was the first to speak up.
"I’m not interested in a Beta position. I’ll be returning to Paris and moving between both worlds. Besides, my man is already a Beta, so one of us needs to slow down."
Although she didn’t explain herself further, everyone understood that she was thinking about their future together, particularly the children they hoped to have and how they would manage their responsibilities as a couple.
Being a Beta came with considerably more responsibilities than being a Gamma, and she didn’t want both of them tied down by demanding positions when they eventually started a family.
Kael had been smiling throughout her explanation, so Corvine didn’t bother trying to convince her otherwise.
After all, Jasmine was already an established top model with a successful career, and there was no reason to pressure her into taking on another demanding responsibility when she had already made up her mind.
"Does anyone else share the same opinion?" Corvine asked, looking around the room.
Sloane was quick to raise her voice.
"Yes. Since my mate has the opportunity to contest for the Beta position, I’d rather remain a Gamma."
She didn’t want to make the competition unnecessarily difficult for her mate, especially when she had no particular interest in becoming a Beta herself. Surprisingly, Faye seemed to share the same opinion.
"Well, women have other responsibilities, including carrying and giving birth to children. I think these kinds of duties should be left to the men."
"But the Queen has even more responsibilities," Corvine pointed out, wondering how she intended to explain that particular exception.
Faye shook her head immediately.
"Queen Sera was born for it, and I was trained for my position. There’s a difference."
Corvine was about to argue, but he eventually decided against it, realizing that there wasn’t much point in trying to change their minds. Faye wasn’t entirely wrong.
Seraphine had begun her training as a child because she had been destined to become a Luna, and although she had chosen to develop herself in other areas, including the stock market and hacking, her leadership training had always been part of her upbringing.
That combination was what made her exceptional, not simply the responsibilities attached to her position.
"All right. In that case, the position will be open to all the other warriors. Damon and Kael will be relieved of their current duties once they’ve finished training the new Betas. Considering the timeline given by the King, everything should be completed within two weeks at most."
Damon let out a frustrated sigh, leaning back in his chair as though he had just remembered something everyone else had conveniently forgotten.
"Seems to me that everyone has forgotten that I need time to plan a wedding in the human world."
Corvine immediately felt guilty. He was about to respond when Liah beat him to it.
"Damon, why don’t you use this time to handle the preparations? By the time the new Betas have been confirmed, you can begin training them before the wedding."
"In that case, I’ll have to make a quick trip to the human world," Damon said, his expression turning serious as he considered the arrangements.
Quinn smiled at him, already having a better suggestion.
"Now that I know who I am, there’s no need for us to worry about all that. I’ll ask Mom and Mary to arrange everything for us. We can spend three days there, and immediately after the wedding, we’ll return with the excuse that we’re going on our honeymoon."
Damon smiled at her suggestion, clearly appreciating how easily she had found a solution to his problem.
"Don’t you miss the human world?"
Quinn shrugged, looking perfectly comfortable with her decision.
"I’ve spent my entire life there, and I’m only just beginning to understand this side of myself. It’s natural that I’d want to spend more time here."
Damon couldn’t help smiling at her response. He was happy that she was embracing her newfound identity without feeling pressured to choose between the two worlds.
As soon as the meeting ended, Kael went straight to prepare the candlelit dinner he had planned for Jasmine.
This time, everything was different because they had agreed to spend the evening together, and both of them had dressed specifically for each other.
Kael was determined to make the occasion as special as possible, especially when Jasmine mentioned having dreamed of a candle lit dinner and never having one.
Kael had learned one of life’s most important lessons, never take opportunities for granted because they might not always be there when you finally decide to make use of them.
He had already wasted too many chances with Jasmine, and now that he had another opportunity to make things right, he was determined not to repeat his past mistakes.
Jasmine looked absolutely dazzling in her red dress, which complemented the romantic atmosphere Kael had created. He had gone all out for the occasion, wearing a black suit that made him look particularly handsome.
She was practically over the moon because she had only ever seen him dressed like that for very special occasions, and knowing that he had made the effort specifically for her made the evening even more meaningful.
"You look gorgeous," Kael complimented as he gently pulled out her chair for her.
Jasmine smiled up at him, admiring how handsome he looked in his suit.
"And you look dashing."
Kael chuckled as he helped her settle into her seat before taking his own.
"Tonight is very important to me because I’ve missed two candlelit dinners with you. The first time, you stood me up, and the second time, the Lycans wanted to take you away from me."
His smile gradually faded as he remembered the second incident, and his expression became noticeably more serious. The thought of losing Jasmine again, especially after everything they had been through, wasn’t something he could easily dismiss.
"Jasmine, I love you, and if you’ll allow me, I want to take care of you from today onward. I don’t want to keep missing opportunities to show you how much you mean to me."
Jasmine smiled, her gaze briefly settling on the expensive wine arranged on the table before returning to his face.
"I would very much love that."
When she had returned, her original intention had been to spend time with the pups and enjoy the comfort of being around people she had grown attached to. She certainly hadn’t expected to find love waiting for her, but somehow, everything had worked out in a way she hadn’t imagined.
The evening turned out to be just as magical as she had always dreamed it would be. They talked about countless things, including their plans for the future, their individual experiences, and the kind of life they hoped to build together.
They ate, drank, laughed, and eventually found themselves gazing at the stars through the glass ceiling of the packhouse, enjoying the peaceful beauty of the night.
As time passed, their conversation became increasingly personal, and they discovered just how much they had in common. Their childhoods, in particular, had been remarkably similar.
Like Jasmine, Kael had lost his family at a very young age and had grown up at the academy, where he had distinguished himself among the warriors through his abilities and determination.
His dedication had eventually earned him Voren’s trust, allowing him to rise through the ranks and become the Alpha King’s Beta.
It was comforting to discover that someone who had become such an important part of her life understood what it meant to grow up without a family, to find a place to belong, and to build a future through hard work.
Their conversation gradually gave way to a more intimate atmosphere when Kael leaned toward her and initiated a kiss. Jasmine responded for a moment, but just as things were beginning to heat up, she suddenly pulled away, looking apologetic.
"I’m sorry. I need to go."
