Chapter 720: Chapter 12: Wolf King

We ran for dozens of kilometers straight, and they even dispatched a helicopter.

’It’s not like I have to pay for it, but all this effort just to get revenge for you?’

We also wasted a whole morning. The more Shen Xin thought about it, the angrier he got, and he smacked the coyote on the head again.

The coyote flinched, shrinking its neck and stealing a fearful glance at Shen Xin.

"Let’s go."

Shen Xin motioned for everyone to leave.

’We’re busy. No time to deal with this thing.’

But the little rascal started acting stubborn, yipping urgently while coming over to nip at Shen Xin’s pant leg.

Its persistence caught York’s attention, and he asked Shen Xin if it meant the coyote had found something.

"Of course not. It got bullied by that pack of gray wolves and wants me to get revenge for it," Shen Xin said, kicking it away irritably.

York was taken aback and thought to himself, ’Well, I’ll be damned.’

’Has it accepted him as its big boss?’

Seeing the coyote refuse to give up and keep pressing forward, York hesitated for a moment before saying, "Shen Xin, I think it might have something else in mind. Could it be that it really knows about the wolf-dog we’re looking for? Look, there are black wolves in this pack. In terms of appearance, they’re a perfect match for our target."

’How is that possible?’ Shen Xin thought.

Wolves are pack animals; they rarely accept strangers of their own kind.

And if the culprit had the ability to control an entire wolf pack, that would be a huge deal.

So, in Shen Xin’s mind, the target was probably a dog like Tian Kui, one with wolf genes or a naturally vicious temperament that had been specially trained.

However, York’s next words left Shen Xin speechless.

"We’re already here."

York had truly grasped the essence of the Chinese language.

We went to all this trouble, even using a helicopter to cross a mountain range. Wouldn’t it be a waste to just leave?

York added, "Besides, didn’t you analyze before that gray wolves would also be good targets? They have a larger range of activity. Since we’ve run into them, we might as well make use of them."

In any case, York felt that coming all this way for nothing would be a real letdown.

Shen Xin said, "That could work, but the problem is there are quite a few wolves in this pack."

"A dozen or so is a large pack. Our dogs are outnumbered nearly three to one."

"And these are the largest wolves on Earth, with incredible fighting power. What if they misjudge the situation and decide to launch a full-on attack?"

"The police dogs could suffer casualties."

York, direct and to the point, turned around and pulled an M4 from the vehicle. "We’ve got these."

With guns in hand, how could they possibly be afraid of a pack of wolves?

"Alright, then."

After a quick mental assessment, Shen Xin nodded.

He couldn’t resist kicking the coyote again. ’What did they even do to you? You had to run all this way for revenge.’

"What are you looking at me for? You’re coming with us."

’You have to get your own revenge.’

At that, the group began to ready their equipment.

They had enough manpower.

There were three on Shen Xin’s side. On York’s side, there was him, Blake, and not counting the vet, the four drivers were actually agents.

That made nine people in total.

Each person had an M4, the high-end kind with accessories. With that much firepower, it wouldn’t matter if the wolf pack was several times larger.

The encirclement strategy was the same old routine, just with a few minor adjustments.

First, they would make the encirclement wider to prevent the sharp-nosed gray wolves from detecting them too early.

As they closed in, they would try to keep their pace synchronized and move quickly to form the circle. Leveraging their numerical superiority, the best-case scenario was to establish a standoff.

Only then could Shen Xin and the others bring the deterrent force of their guns into play.

Shen Xin picked up his rifle to join them but was stopped by Lin Wei.

"You stay back for now and command Tian Kui and the others. You can move in once we have them surrounded," Lin Wei said, deftly checking his rifle before turning to leave.

’It was a reasonable plan. After all, Tian Kui and the others listened to my commands best.’

Teddy provided aerial reconnaissance, giving them a clear view of all the gray wolves.

Shen Xin counted carefully. There were 11 gray wolves in total.

Five of them were black.

As for the Wolf King, Shen Xin observed closely and was able to tentatively identify it.

Two of the wolves clearly had a higher status; the other gray wolves didn’t dare get too close or disturb them.

One gray, one black.

The gray one, in particular, was likely the alpha male.

The size difference between males and females was quite obvious.

Male gray wolves generally grow to about 70 kilograms. This alpha was a whole size larger, probably around 80 kilograms.

At that size, with its astonishing bite force and sharp claws, its combat prowess was easy to imagine.

Following their positions, Shen Xin carefully directed Tian Kui and the others to slowly encircle the pack from the perimeter.

But when they were still two hundred meters away, the wolf pack had already reacted.

They must have caught an unusual scent from upwind.

The Wolf King, which had been resting on the ground, shot to its feet and looked around warily.

It let out a few calls, and the other wolves playing nearby quickly gathered around it.

Seeing this, Shen Xin no longer hesitated and immediately ordered Tian Kui and the others to pick up the pace.

Six coyotes also moved out with them.

A total of 43 animals tore through the jungle, rapidly approaching the target.

At this distance, they could easily catch the wolf pack off guard.

The Wolf King hesitated for just a moment, and by the time it decided to flee, Tian Kui and his pack had already appeared on all sides.

Another moment of hesitation, and they were completely surrounded.

The Wolf King stopped in its tracks, and the pack grew agitated, milling about in confusion.

Wolves are highly social animals.

At a command from the Wolf King, the entire pack’s formation shifted, with the weaker gray wolves shielded in the center.

"Halt!"

At Shen Xin’s command, Tian Kui and his pack stopped abruptly, maintaining a thirty-meter distance and forming a tight encirclement.

A standoff was established.

Tian Kui and his pack didn’t make a move.

The wolf pack also didn’t dare to attack or try to break out, knowing they were at a numerical disadvantage.
