Chapter : 716

They desperately needed another way to defeat the Solurius Behemoth. They needed a secret trick. They needed to bypass the infinite healing mechanic . The 13th Unit needed a miracle, or they were going to lose the battle .

---

The glowing green orbs flew across the ruined underground laboratory. The toxic projectiles zipped through the air. They moved fast. Gargantua fired the radioactive blasts in every single direction. The massive monster did not stop. It did not need to rest. It pulled infinite power from the toxic yellow mist.

The 13th Unit scrambled across the broken floor tiles. They tried desperately to avoid the deadly attacks.

Laxmi jumped behind a smashed computer server. She hid from the incoming blasts. She punched her open palms together. Bright orange flames roared to life. She stepped out from cover. She threw a gigantic fireball.

The bright orange flames sailed across the room. The fireball hit a glowing green orb in mid-air. The two spells canceled each other out . A loud popping sound echoed in the laboratory. Gray smoke puffed into the air.

Laxmi frowned deeply. She crossed her arms over her bright orange clothes. She looked annoyed.

"This is unfair!" Laxmi yelled loudly. "I cannot burn this giant scrap pile! It just keeps shooting! It never runs out of ammo!"

Zinia stomped her tough combat boots onto the white floor tiles. She stood in front of Princess Iris. She raised her large hands. A solid rock wall shot up from the ground.

Two toxic green orbs slammed into the stone barrier. The rock melted instantly. The acidic sludge dissolved the solid earth. Toxic green smoke hissed into the air. Zinia took a fast step backward. She wiped a drop of sweat from her forehead.

"The acid is too strong!" Zinia called out. "My rocks dissolve in two seconds! I cannot build a permanent shield!"

Luna stood near a cracked concrete pillar. She rubbed her sleepy eyes. She did not yawn this time. She pointed her hands forward. A massive gust of wind blew across the room. The strong wind pushed the toxic smoke away from her friends. Luna frowned a lazy frown.

"It is making too much noise," Luna complained. "I want to sleep. Why does the giant metal guy have infinite energy? It is very rude. Someone needs to pull its plug."

Sayma crouched near a broken desk. The intelligent Vice-Captain pushed her thick glasses up the bridge of her nose. She held her neat notebook. She clicked her silver pen. Click. Click. She looked at her small digital tool.

"We cannot pull its plug, Luna," Sayma reported politely. Her voice sounded very urgent. "The ambient radiation levels are off the charts. The creature acts as a massive sponge. It continuously absorbs the Solurius radiation from the room. It converts the poison into health."

Readers may wonder about the source: NovelPhoenix's website carries the author's chapter, while this copy was made without permission.

Ira stood perfectly still next to Sayma. Her pale face showed zero emotion. She summoned a high-pressure water whip. She destroyed an incoming green orb with a fast water slash.

"Statistically speaking, a battle of endurance yields a zero percent survival rate," Ira analyzed in a flat, robotic voice. "Our mana reserves are depleting rapidly. The enemy possesses an unlimited fuel source. We will eventually fail to dodge."

Princess Iris gripped her silver rapier. She raised the glowing white shard of the Core of Luminus. The holy light pushed the toxic mist away. Her violet eyes looked determined. She refused to give up. She refused to let her team lose.

"Keep moving!" Princess Iris commanded smoothly. "Do not stay in one spot! Keep your purification bubbles active! We just need to find an opening!"

Naomi dashed across the room. She used her green wind magic to boost her physical speed. She became a fast blur. A radioactive orb zoomed past her shoulder. It missed her by an inch. Naomi flipped gracefully over a broken pipe. She landed perfectly on her feet.

She spun her twin silver daggers. The metal glinted under the flashing red emergency lights. Naomi did not look at the giant monster. She turned her head. She looked toward the back of the room. She looked for Ken.

Naomi spotted him sitting behind a large, overturned metal desk. He was safe from the flying green orbs. The thick metal blocked the attacks perfectly.

Naomi smiled a very warm, gentle smile. Her green eyes sparkled with fondness. She felt immense relief. She worried about him constantly. She liked knowing he was safe in the corner. He did not have any combat skills. She wanted to protect him.

She turned her attention back to the giant monster. She prepared to dodge the next wave of attacks.

Ken Eliot sat comfortably behind the overturned desk. He wore his baggy navy blue sweatpants. His white dress shirt hung completely untucked over his belt. He drooped his shoulders as far as they could possibly go. He crossed his ankles.

He held a plastic bag of chocolate cookies. He reached into the bag. He pulled out a round cookie with large chocolate chunks. He took a bite. He chewed it slowly. Crunch. Crunch.

Ken watched the chaos in the laboratory. He watched the green orbs fly through the air. He watched the girls scramble. He kept his sleepy dark eyes perfectly relaxed.

He ran the battle data through his flawless anime logic.

"This boss fight is tedious," Ken analyzed casually in his mind. He swallowed his food. "The developers made a massive mistake here. They gave the boss infinite health regeneration. They gave it infinite ranged attacks. It is a total spam fest."

Ken looked at the giant monster. Gargantua stood in the center of the room. The rusted steel armor dripped with toxic green sludge. The blindingly bright green core on its chest pulsed rapidly. Thump. Thump. Thump.

Ken stared directly at that glowing chest core.

"That chest light is a massive scam," Ken reasoned smoothly in his head. He took another bite of his cookie. "Every single video game tells you to shoot the glowing spot. The glowing spot is supposed to be the weak point. But this is a trick. The chest core is way too big. It is way too obvious."

Ken knew how evil game designers thought.

"If the girls hit that chest core, nothing good will happen," Ken deduced lazily. "The boss will probably just explode and deal massive area-of-effect damage. Or it will instantly heal back to full health again. The chest core is just a decoy. It is a fake hitbox. It is designed to waste the player's time and mana."

Ken sagged his posture even more. He put his free hand deep into his sweatpants pocket.

"The real power source is never attached to the boss in these gimmick fights," Ken thought simply. "The real power source is always hidden somewhere else in the room. The boss is just a giant, ugly Bluetooth speaker. It receives energy wirelessly. We need to find the actual router."

Ken stopped looking at the monster. He moved his gaze past the giant beast. He looked at the massive concrete wall behind Gargantua.
