Chapter 20: Moving Out Again

It wasn’t a peaceful night.

Initially, Alex and his friends had to wake up several times from the sleep to go and help when there were mutated beasts trying to barge into the dorm building.

Thankfully, they were able to get to it in the nick of time.

Some of the students sustained minor injuries but it wasn’t too deadly.

And as time went by, the other students got more courageous when dealing with the mutated beasts.

The Awakened attached to each team helped with holding off the mutated beasts until Alex and his friends arrived.

Which also helped these Awakened become stronger after killing off some of the mutated beasts.

Finally, when it was morning and the sun rose again, Alex got up from where he was sleeping and washed up.

While he was doing so, he summoned the information panels in his mind and they appeared.

[Current status: 145/200]

[Day 2 of 3 for SSS Level Storage Ability.]

It was day 2 of him having the storage ability and he had only 55 more kills to make before he could hold on to it permanently.

And at the rate that he was able to accomplish the previous day, he figured that he would be able to do so later.

At least, things were going well on this front for him, he thought while he woke the others up.

"It’s time for lecture?" Terry woke up with his eyes closed and gave out a yawn.

"I was about to spend all of that money..." Brian woke up and sighed when his dream of becoming a billionaire was abruptly stopped by Alex.

Alex rolled his eyes at him and said, "Yeah, sure."

He knew how Brian loved money, before the Apocalypse happened at least.

Riley had woken up earlier than they had and he returned from his room with a backpack and more weapons hanging from his belt.

There was a machete, coupled with a few survival knives and his trusty old Desert Eagles on it.

"I think we can safely use our ability when we need to now." Alex pointed at the weapons that were on Riley and said.

"What? Are you serious? After all of this." Riley gestured at the weapons he had on him.

It wasn’t too amusing to him with what he had just heard.

Alex shrugged his shoulders and said, "Don’t blame me.

"I got to figure out where we stand in terms of how powerful our abilities are.

"And I think it’s safe to say that we are among the very top."

Brian nodded his head and said, "That’s what I felt when I saw how much weaker the fireballs of the other Awakened were last night."

"Does it mean that we are the best around here?" Terry stood up and said excitedly.

His day had finally come.

"I will come to your rescue if you cry for help." He patted on Riley’s shoulder and said.

Alex shook his head at Terry and corrected him, "Riley’s ability is higher above yours for what I’ve gathered."

"Heh. You heard that." Riley nudged Terry away from him with an elbow.

But he cursed at Terry when his elbow hit against something metallic.

Alex rolled his eyes at them and gave out a sigh.

They were just normal college students the day before and yet, so many things had transpired.

Knock.

The door was knocked and Eddy’s voice sounded behind it.

"It’s us. We are ready."

"Come in." Alex said and the door was opened.

Eddy and Lin had come with a few representatives from the other students.

He had asked Eddy and Lin to find someone that was trustworthy so that he could hand some of the pistols he had over to them as a precaution against other intruders while they were away.

It was the best he could do for them.

Alex can’t babysit them in the dorm building forever.

They would have to quickly adapt.

"Here are some pistols for you to use while we are away." Alex took out some pistols he had prepared and handed the pistols over to them.

They felt the weight of the pistols in their hands and said, "Thanks."

For someone who hasn’t awakened any ability, it was the best buff they could ask for.

After he was done with the students staying behind, it was time for him and his friends to move out.

Alex packed his backpack with stuff that those at the school of Bio-science needed, and he asked Brian to take the drone along with them.

The drone had been charged with the power bank from his storage space and it would come in handy as a recon for them.

They got down to the ground floor where the entrance was at and the detail that was guarding it saw them and waved at him.

"Morning, Alex." They greeted him and he gave them a nod.

After the night, all of them knew that he was dependable and they looked up to him whenever anything happened.

He had helped them stay alive after all, and they even got some water and food from him.

"Remove the barricade, we need to go out and get to the school of Bio-science."

"School of Bio-science? Do you have to? It’s pretty far out from here." One of the students said and the others nodded their heads.

They felt safer with Alex and his friends around in the dorm building.

"We will need to and if possible we will try and get some food from the cafeteria on our way back." Eddy said and the students removed the barricade for them reluctantly.

When they got out from the dorm building, Alex glanced at the surroundings.

The dark fog was gone now and it was eerily quiet.

They had either taken out all of the mutated beasts in the surroundings or they might have gone somewhere else.

He couldn’t figure it out at the moment and he had a mission to accomplish.

Riley took the lead this time while Terry and Brian walked closely behind him.

And behind them, Alex walked along with Eddy and Lin.

They began walking in the direction of the school of Bio-science.
