Chapter 21: New Enemies

In the Business Building, when Joe’s friend, who was tasked to be on the lookout, saw Alex and the others move out from the dorm building, he quickly got back to the meeting room to inform Joe and the others.

"Joe, they’ve left like what you’ve told us."

"Then, what are we waiting for, time for us to follow along." Joe got up from where he was resting and said.

He glanced over to his two other friends who had also Awakened like him, and thought for a moment.

"Elton, go to the dorm building and see if you can break into it when they are gone far away from the building.

"They must have some food and water inside.

"John will follow me and see if we are able to gather something from the cafeteria."

His friends, John and Elton nodded their heads and they let go of the young woman in their arms reluctantly.

Joe glanced over at Felicia and said, "You too, get some of your friends to come with us.

"We can’t carry too much on our own."

Felicia frowned and pointed at her nose and asked, "Me?"

"Who else? Do you want to eat or starve in here?" Joe said and he pulled her up onto her feet.

Felicia pointed at some of her friends and Patricia’s friends but Patricia’s friends shook their heads.

"We will stay here and take care of her."

Patricia was still in her slumber until now.

Joe knew what was going on with her but he didn’t know why it was taking her so long.

For him, he was in a slumber for maybe a few hours when he awakened his SS Level Telekinesis ability.

It was a much shorter duration of maybe a few minutes for his friends, John and Elton, when they awakened their D Level Wind and Ice ability respectively.

She might be awakening an ability that was something special, he thought.

With this in mind, he decided to be nice to Patricia for now, so that she would be on her side when she was done with her Awakening process.

"Stay and take care of her while we try and find some food and water for you." Joe said and Felicia protested.

"What do you mean by that?!" She wasn’t too pleased and said with her voice raised.

Joe stared at her and she levitated off the ground for a few feet before dropping onto the ground again.

Then, he turned around and walked out of the meeting room.

"Hurry up and follow behind." John shouted and Felicia quickly left the meeting room with her friends.

While they moved towards the school of Bio-science, Alex was still wary about how quiet it was.

He frowned and tried to sense with his heightened senses where the mutated beasts had gone.

But he couldn’t.

There weren’t any rats or other mutated beasts around anymore.

Terry, on the other hand, was happy about it and said, "The rats and other beasts are gone, maybe things will get back to normal now."

Riley turned his head back and said, "From my experience, whenever an area is empty without any small animals, it usually means that there’s something nastier around there."

"I agree with Riley." Brian nodded his head and chimed in.

Alex’s eyebrows pulled closer together when he heard what Riley had mentioned.

But when he glanced around he saw nothing.

The area was empty.

Only blood smudges and a few bodies of rats and some of the unfortunate students could be seen.

Maybe there was another possibility that he wasn’t able to think of?

He wanted to figure it out but they had a mission on hand.

Alex sighed to himself silently. He was trying his best but there was only so much he could know and do.

"Everyone stop, I see someone ahead." Riley raised his hands and said when he spotted a few figures in the distance walking towards them.

The others did so and they tried to make out who it was.

A few figures dressed in the attire of how a college student would be staggered along the path.

Alex saw that they were expressionless even though there were bloodstains on their clothes and wounds that were on their arms and necks.

And curiously, they were all women and their bellies were bloated.

Something was wrong with them.

He doesn’t recall seeing so many pregnant students in the college before.

Alex held his baseball bat up and said, "Everyone prepare for battle."

"What do you mean by that? They are pregnant for heaven’s sake." Terry glanced at him and said.

But before Alex could tell him why, the figures that were coming towards them sat onto the ground together.

And they leaned back with their hands supporting their bodies, so that their bloated bellies would be facing up to the sky.

All of them started to make a low growling sound and their bodies shook as if they were convulsing.

Splatter.

Their bloated bellies exploded and the blood, innards and something flew out from them into the surroundings.

The things that were inside the bloated bellies then flew towards Alex and the others with their wet and slimy wings.

They were wasps that were as big as an adult’s head.

Bang!

Alex shot at one of them and the bullet hit, lodging into the thick shell of the wasp.

However, it didn’t do much to it.

The wasp swooped down from the air at him with its long and poisonous sting.

Whoosh.

He side-stepped it and the sting of the wasp brushed past him within inches.

With its body exposed to him for a split second, Alex swung his baseball bat at the softer part of the wasp.

Crack.

His baseball bat struck the body of the wasp and it caused the wasp to fall onto the ground.

The wasp’s wings fluttered rapidly when it tried to get back into the air but Alex came at them next.

He used his baseball bat and destroyed them with it.

Now that the wasp was grounded, he wanted to give it a finishing blow.

But when he swung the baseball bat to his back, he smelt something that was emitted from the wasp.
