Chapter 22: Wasp Troubles

Pain struck Alex with just a whiff of whatever the wasp was emitting.

He covered his nose and mouth with his hand and a slit appeared out of nowhere in front of him.

The slit opened up and he was covered by the storage portal in front of him.

Under the protection of the storage portal, the purple poisonous gas that was emitted out from the wasp disappeared into the storage portal.

And before the wasp could get away from where it was, a huge fireball shot out from the storage portal at the wasp.

Boom!

An explosion occurred when the fireball hit onto the wasp.

Flames ravaged the body of the wasp while it twitched uncontrollably from the pain.

A charred smell filled the air and after a few moments, the wasp stopped moving.

Alex quickly glanced at the others to check on how they were doing.

"Let me deal with them!" Riley was done with the wasp that had attacked him and he shouted at Terry and Brian, who were trying to get away from a cloud of purple poisonous gas encroaching towards them.

Dozens of bubbles appeared near Riley and they flew into the cloud of poisonous gas.

Boom!

Explosions could be heard one after another and they were followed by the mushy splattering sound when the parts of the wasps dropped onto the ground.

After making sure that his friends were safe, Alex turned around to check on Eddy and Lin.

And in comparison, they were having a much tougher time.

Lin had to use his Earth Wielding ability to create a wall to block the attack of the wasp, and Eddy would make use of the opportunity to spring an attack on the wasp with his Ice Wielding ability.

They managed to use this tactic to slowly freeze the wasp bit by bit until it was unable to take flight anymore.

Then, they were able to freeze the head of the wasp before breaking it into pieces.

"We are fine." Eddy wiped the sweat off his forehead and said to Alex when he saw Alex looking in their direction.

Lin panted and nodded his head at Alex too.

After hearing what Alex had told them the night before on how to become stronger, they weren’t going to miss out on the opportunity to do so, no matter how difficult it was.

And even though they saw that Alex and his friends had also Awakened abilities, they weren’t dumb and so, it wasn’t surprising to them.

Especially after what they had gone through the night before.

Alex had also trusted them more after having fought through so many mutated beasts with them, so it wasn’t an issue for them to know.

He gave them an approving nod and he glanced at the surroundings.

Something was still troubling him.

First, wasps didn’t have the ability to emit purple poisonous gas as far as he knew of.

And secondly, these wasps came out from the bellies of some of the students, which meant that there was only one way for them to get into the bellies.

Alex wanted to try and sense if there was anything else nearby but it wasn’t needed.

A dark shadow covered his body and he lifted his head.

There was another wasp in the air but this time it was twice as big as it was.

Riley and the others looked on in awe at it and said, "What in the world is that..."

Then, something started to rain down upon them and Alex shouted, "Get away from where you are!"

The others heard him and they quickly leaped away from where they were.

Alex opened up a storage portal above him and the droplets disappeared into it.

Sizzle.

When the droplets from above hit the ground, they started to burn and dissolve through the cement ground.

He frowned when he saw what the acidic droplets were capable of.

Alex glanced at the body of the wasp he had taken out earlier and said, "Try and bring it down!"

Bang!

He opened fire at the wasp but when the bullets hit, it didn’t even budge an inch.

More of the acidic droplets descended down towards him and he made use of his storage space to contain the acidic droplets again.

The huge wasp’s wings fluttered rapidly when it saw that its attack towards Alex had failed once again.

It swooped down from above with its long and huge venomous sting at Alex.

But before it could reach him, a fireball that was half the size of the wasp shot at it.

Brian had waited for the opportunity with his fireballs while the huge wasp was dealing with Alex.

Boom!

The fireball hit onto the body of the wasp and the impact knocked it to the side.

But it was not over for the wasp.

Terry hurled a sharp metallic rod at it and it plunged through the body of the wasp.

The wasp tried to steady itself but Riley was up next with his bubbles.

A few of the bubbles flew at the wasp and they exploded when they got close enough.

Boom!

The explosion took out the wings of the wasp and a huge chunk of its body.

Without the wings, the huge wasp began to spiral down from above.

Alex waited for it and when it got to the ground, a storage portal appeared in front of him and a fireball shot out from it at the huge wasp.

Boom!

This time, the fireball hit and the flames ravaged the huge wasp successfully.

The huge wasp tried to get up onto its feet but the flames caused it to twitch and convulse instead.

Slowly, the movement of the huge wasp stopped, leaving the charred body of it lying on the ground with a column of smoke rising into the air from it.

Alex slowed his breath to compose himself and while doing so, a familiar sound erupted in his mind.

Information panels with words appeared in it.
