Chapter 32: Gruesome Battle

Lin used his ability and a wall made of earth rose from the ground to try and protect himself.

But at the height and angle that the signpost that was coming down at him, it wasn’t tall enough for it.

He braced himself for impact but right before they hit him, a slit appeared right in front of his eyes.

The slit opened up and the portal that appeared covered him fully.

Whoosh.

The signposts went into the portal and disappeared.

Alex patted Lin on the shoulder and helped him get back on his feet.

"What the hell?" Joe was surprised to see the portal that had appeared out of nowhere and he glanced at Alex with a surprised look.

He had not seen Alex use his ability previously and thought that Alex wasn’t an Awakened.

But with what just happened, he realized that he had been fooled all this time.

"You are indeed cunning." Joe said as he glanced warily at Alex and Riley who had gotten out of the cafeteria together.

However, they weren’t in the mood to talk and they wasted no time to deal with him.

Bubbles appeared in front of Riley and they flew at Joe from all directions.

Joe cursed and he quickly glanced around at the surroundings.

There were cars that were parked not too far away from him and he used his ability on some of them.

The cars levitated from the ground and they flew in front of him.

Boom!

When the bubbles from Riley hit onto the cars, they exploded.

The cars were deformed and blown away from the air.

Joe raised his arms to cover his head and chest when it exploded.

However, it wasn’t enough.

The impact made him take a few steps back and he groaned in pain when the shock wave from the explosions ruptured through his body.

Cough.

He coughed out a mouthful of blood from the internal injuries but he didn’t have time to take care of it.

Using his ability, Joe made all the objects that were nearby levitate and flew towards Riley.

Riley was ready to launch another attack at Joe, but when he saw the signposts, shattered glass, cars and even trash cans that were descending down upon him, he quickly leaped away from where he was.

Fortunately, he dodged the attack successfully.

Thud.

The objects came crashing down the next moment and they slammed into the concrete ground hard, causing cracks in it.

And while this was going on, Alex took the opportunity to launch a surprise attack on Joe.

A slit appeared behind Joe and it opened up.

Then, a fireball, that was as tall as Joe was, shot out from it.

Joe sensed the fireball and he leaped to the side to dodge it in the nick of time.

Boom!

The fireball hit ground and it erupted in flames.

Joe quickly used his ability again and the concrete ground was torn apart by it.

The pieces of concrete rose into the air and they shot at Alex.

Alex opened up a portal in front of himself and some of the concrete pieces disappeared into it.

The remaining pieces of concrete changed their trajectory at the last minute and they shot at Alex from his sides and above.

That forced Alex to leap away from where he was.

With his physiques and fast reaction, he was able to dodge the pieces of concrete in time.

Whoosh.

Before he could make his next move, Joe had lunged at him with a right hook.

Alex could feel the gust of wind that came with Joe’s fist.

But Joe’s fist could only brush past Alex’s head as he ducked, and let out a right hook at Joe’s waist at the same time.

Thud.

The impact forced Joe to slide a few meters to the side.

Sharp pain struck Joe and he was astonished at the reaction and strength of Alex.

It was the first time that someone could stand up against him ever since he had awakened his ability.

With the sharp pain coursing through his body, Joe wished that he didn’t come here in the first place and he might still be doing fine if he hadn’t listened to Felicia.

While he thought so, Alex didn’t stop and a portal appeared in front of Joe.

Joe’s face and body were lit up in an amber glow when the fireballs emerged from the portal and shot at him.

Boom!

Joe tried to dodge the fireball by leaping to the side but he was a moment too late this time.

One of the fireballs caught his leg and huge chunks of flesh on his leg, were blown off and there was nothing left on the leg except for his shin bone and scraps of skin dangling from it.

Joe fell to the ground in pain when he landed on his feet.

Bang!

Alex had gotten out his pistols, aimed them at Joe, and fired.

The shots hit onto the head of Joe but they were only able to lodge into the flesh of his head, unable to penetrate through the skull.

From what he saw, Alex figured that Joe was someone who was at least an SS Level Awakened.

This made him wary and he wasn’t going to underestimate Joe.

He didn’t hold back anymore and used his ability to give all that he got at Joe.

A portal opened up above Joe and droplets of acid rained down onto him.

Sizzle.

The acidic droplets did their job and they started to dissolve and burn through the skin, flesh and bones of Joe.

"Argh! I will gut you if I lay my hands on you!" Joe cursed at Alex and he tried to get rid of the acid on his body and head but it made it worse.

His hand caused immense pain when it rubbed off the dissolved skin and flesh from him.

However, that wasn’t the end of it.

Purple poisonous gas emitted out from the portal and it engulfed the surroundings of him.

Once Joe inhaled a lungful of the gas, he thrashed around uncontrollably in pain.

"Felicia, you bitch!" Joe screamed at the top of his lungs and said, "These bitches are behind in the kitchen grabbing all the food!"

Even if he was going to die, he would take that bitch down with him.

Alex wasn’t sure what to make of it.

He chose to end the suffering of Joe quickly instead.

Fireballs, bubbles and sharp metallic rods shot out from the portal at Joe.

The explosion that ensued, ripped Joe apart and there was nothing left of him except for the charred remains that were strewn around in the surroundings.

Alex glanced over at the others to check on them.
