Chapter 36: Supplies

Brian sighed, shook his head and said, "There isn’t much.

"Teresa is trying out all the possible ways to kill off the mutagens but it takes time.

"And they might need more food."

"How much weight can your drone hold?" Alex pointed at the drone and asked.

"I suppose around a few kilograms at a time?" Brian wasn’t too sure but he figured that it could work with a few kilograms of weight.

"Let’s try it out." Alex took out a few bottles of water, some packs of the MRE ration and some of the meat and vegetables he had left.

Then, Brian and Terry got to work immediately.

After they tied the bottles of water with the MRE ration packs to the drone and tried to make it take off, the drone buzzed and struggled to do so.

It was too heavy for the drone.

The bottles of water alone were too much for it.

"Remove the MRE ration packs." Alex sighed and said.

He had wanted to get it done with as soon as possible but it wasn’t possible from the looks of it.

They would have to fly the drone for a few trips to deliver the food and water.

Once they heard him, Brian and Terry proceeded to remove the MRE ration packs, and let the bottles of water remain tied to the drone.

Buzz.

This time, the drone buzzed and after some struggle it took off from the ground.

Brian piloted the drone slowly out of the window and it continued on its way towards the school of Bio-science.

Once it reached the school of Bio-science, Alice received the bottles of water and the drone flew back for more.

Brian and Terry tied the MRE ration packs onto the drone next.

While this was going on, Riley came over to Alex and asked, "How long are we staying here for?"

Alex glanced at Riley and shook his head, "I don’t intend to do so for too long.

"This place isn’t safe enough after all."

He knew what Riley’s concern was and Riley was right.

The campus for the college was open without any barriers or facilities that guarded against the mutated beasts or even other Awakened.

Right now, they’ve only dealt with other Awakened like Jack and Joe, and it wasn’t out of the question that there would be more Awakened like they were.

It would be ideal if they could move to another place where there would be better security and areas for food production.

But Alex would rather leave after Teresa figured out more about what’s happening to them with the mutagen.

Without the equipment here in the school of Bio-science, they might not have another decent chance at it in the future.

Although he wasn’t sure about what was happening in other cities, states or countries with the communications networks being down, he didn’t have an optimistic view on it.

If things were going well so far, they would at least hear about something from the authorities.

But they haven’t until now.

The authorities seemed to have gone dark and disappeared after the first day.

"I saw your map with the possible safe areas we can move to.

"We shall discuss about it when Teresa figures out something that would be useful to us." Alex said and Riley shrugged his shoulders at him.

"Are you done yet?" Alex quickly glanced over at Brian and Terry and asked, before Riley could go on another one of his rants.

"We are done." Brian was just finishing up and keeping his drone into its case.

"Then, we shall make our move to the school of medicine." Alex packed some bottles of water, MRE ration packs into his backpack and said.

These bottles of water and MRE ration packs would be used to entice those in the school of medicine to join him and his friends.

Riley and the others nodded at him and they got ready too.

"What about Eddy and Lin? Should I get them to join?" Brian asked but Alex shook his head at him.

Alex would prefer that they followed, but the mutated beasts that they had to deal with, were getting tougher for Eddy and Lin.

Differences in the Awakened Level were starting to show.

It might be better for Eddy and Lin to stay back, and kill off the mutated beasts trying to invade.

Under the cover of the dorm building, it would be much easier for them compared to what Alex and his friends were going to do.

Brian sighed and nodded his head.

All of them left Brian’s room and headed for the ground floor next.

"Morning, Alex." The students who were guarding the entrance greeted Alex when they saw him.

They were tired but not as anxious anymore.

After establishing a routine and having success in repelling the mutated beasts and other Awakened like Elton, they weren’t as stressed any more.

And it was all thanks to Alex who had helped them along the way.

Alex gave them a nod and pointed at the entrance, "We need to go out again."

The students quickly slid the barricades to the side and opened the door of the entrance for him.

They weren’t staying in the dorm building where Alex and the others were away. Someone improved on the barricades, and had reinforced the doors with steel plates.

It wasn’t perfect but it was the best they could do with what they had at the moment.

Alex was impressed with their initiative.

He glanced over at Terry as it had reminded him of something.

"Are you able to change the form of metal?" He asked and Terry shrugged his shoulders.

"I don’t know. I could try when we get back?" Terry replied and Alex thought that it would be immensely useful if Terry was able to do it.

With that in mind, Alex got out from the dorm building and the glare from the sun made him squint his eyes.

This was the last day of his SSS Level Storage Ability and he had to kill 8 mutated beasts by today to keep the ability forever.

It didn’t seem like an impossible task after his experience from the past two days.

But who knows?
