Chapter 39: Keaton

The doors opened and two young men came in.

Being medical students of Professor Charles, both of them wore a white coats and they had a smell of disinfectant on them.

One of them was tall and well built while the other was shorter and skinny in comparison.

Professor Charles glanced at the taller man and said, "James, get rid of it as usual.

"I’m tired for now.

"I’ll be in my room if you ever need me."

James nodded his head and said, "I will get it done, Professor Charles."

He licked his lips and swallowed a mouthful of saliva when he glanced at the body of the young woman, who was naked and lying motionlessly on the ground.

Professor Charles got out from the office and closed the door.

James walked over to the body of the young woman and squatted down beside her.

He touched on the face of the young woman and said, "You know, ever since we first met, you have ignored me as if I was a nobody.

"Bet you didn’t think that things would change and here we are..."

James glanced at the body of the young woman with a maniacal looking smile.

Anger rose inside him and it took over.

He wanted to exact revenge on the young woman but he stopped and glanced over at the skinny man.

What an eye sore. He thought.

"Keaton, go check on the other students and mutated spiders that you are controlling while I take care of this." James said to the skinny man, Keaton.

"I will do it right now." Keaton said anxiously and he got out from the office.

After he got outside and closed the doors behind him, his anxious look slowly turned into a sly grin.

What was happening was such a gift to him.

He was able to play out his wildest fantasies with his SS Level Emotional Control ability.

It was so interesting to see people change and react according to his will.

Humming a tune, he walked and skipped happily like a child towards the lockup area where the other students were being held.

Meanwhile, Alex and the others had gotten to the building where the school of medicine was.

It was quiet at the main entrance.

The entrance was curiously opened, as if it was business as usual.

If not for the fact that there were broken chairs, computer screens and a few tables smashed inside the lobby of the main entrance, others might have mistaken that everything was going well from the outside.

Alex was, however, wary about what he saw.

It was too unusual.

For the past few days, everywhere they went was messy and there were bound to be bodies lying around.

Maybe being medical students, they knew better to clear the bodies to prevent diseases from spreading? Alex thought but he wasn’t too sure.

The one best thing he knew was to be prepared for anything.

"We better be on high alert." He said and the others nodded their heads at him.

Riley taking lead, started walking towards the entrance with Terry and Brian following closely behind.

Alex followed after them.

When they got into the lobby, there was no one in sight except for the items that were strewn around.

"Could the students have run away?" Riley asked while he searched around for something useful from the wreckage.

Even a ballpoint pen was hard to come by now so he didn’t want to waste it.

"Maybe or maybe not. We will have to try and find useful supplies if there’s no one around." Alex wasn’t expecting everything to go according to his plan.

So, even if there wasn’t anyone around in the building anymore, he would have to make do with scavenging some medical supplies to be used in the future.

He glanced around in the lobby and he stopped when he saw something at the corridor that was down the other end of the lobby.

Something was swinging from the ceiling of the corridor.

"Look over there." Alex pointed in the direction and said.

Riley and the others stopped what they were doing and glanced in the direction where he was pointing at.

"I will check it out, Terry and Brian cover me." Riley said and bubbles appeared in front of him.

He walked towards the corridor with Terry and Brian following behind.

As they approached the corridor, Alex didn’t have a good feeling about it.

It was as if someone wanted them to do so.

Then, he sensed some beings coming at him from behind.

"Get ready!" He shouted and turned around towards the entrance.

When he did so, something also appeared from what was hanging from the ceiling of the corridor.

Huge spiders that were half his height had appeared at the top of the entrance.

They must have scaled down the wall of the building to ambush whoever had entered into the lobby.

Their bodies were white with red specks on their furry legs.

Whoosh.

All of the spiders pointed the end of their bodies at Alex and a gust of web shot at him.

Alex quickly used his ability and a slit appeared in front of him.

The slit opened up into a portal and the web that was coming at him disappeared into it.

After the web was gone, the spiders tried to enter through the entrance.

Alex waited for a few of them to be halfway through the entrance before he unleashed his attack.

Whoosh.

Fireballs blasted out from his portal at these spiders.

The spiders tried to get away from the fireballs but they were stuck in between the walls of the entrance.

Boom!

The fireballs hit and an explosion ensued.

Fire from the fireballs raged onto the legs and bodies of the spiders that got hit.

They tried to get away from the flames but their long legs obstructed and entangled each other instead.

While they were doing so, silver flashes appeared from the portal and the sharp metallic rods shot out from it towards these spiders.

Splatter.

The sharp metallic rods plunged through the heads and bodies of the spiders and green liquid from the spiders splattered out into the surroundings.
