Chapter 47: More Capabilities!

Alex lifted his head and a slit appeared above him.

It opened up into a portal and a few bubbles flew out from it.

Boom!

The explosion caused whatever that was still on the ground to shake.

Dust filled the air and the body of the mutated rat together with pieces of the false ceiling rained down towards the ground.

With the portal above to protect him, Alex stood calmly where he was and all the debris that was coming down from above was absorbed into his storage space.

Then, a familiar sound erupted in his mind and information panels with words appeared inside it.

[Congratulations Host for killing off 1 mutated beast.]

[Dispensing rewards now:]

[10x bottles of water.]

[All items are stored in your storage space now.]

[Current status: 200/200]

[Day 3 of 3 for SSS Level Storage Ability.]

[Able to manifest 2 Storage Portals at the same time within a 20 meter radius.]

[Rewards for kills will be of a wider variety.]

[Fresh meat, vegetables, machinery and other items would be rewarded for every kill now.]

Alex was pleasantly surprised by what he had read.

The ability to have two portals appear at the same time would be a huge advantage over what it was right now. ℴℴ𝘮

It would allow him much more options and possible tactics to be deployed when dealing with mutated beasts or other Awakened.

As for the better rewards from killing mutated beasts, it was what he had wished for, and it would be so much easier for him and his friends to survive with it in the future.

"Are you OK?" Terry’s voice sounded from behind and Alex turned around.

Riley and Brian had also come over after they heard the commotion inside the convenience store.

"It’s nothing, just one of those mutated rats." Alex who was feeling happy with the rewards from the system, shrugged at them with a smile and said.

He patted on their shoulders and walked out of the convenience store with them.

Too bad there weren’t any mutated beasts around for him to try out the new capabilities he had now.

There would always be an opportunity to do so. He thought while the four of them got back to where the young medical students were.

All of them were glad to see Alex and the others back safely.

"Sorry about the little detour. We can continue on our way back now." Alex said and they started to move towards the dorm building again.

While they passed through the other buildings, the shouting and fighting for food and water could still be heard.

It was still going on.

David and the other medical students began to feel that they might have been pretty lucky to have met Alex and his friends instead of someone else.

Who knows what they would be like compared to them.

Finally, after a few moments, they reached the dorm building.

"I’m starving." Terry said and he walked up to the barricaded door.

Those on guard inside it saw him and they started to open it.

"Welcome back. They are..." One of them greeted Alex and the others, but stopped when he saw around fifteen over young men and women in white coats behind them.

"Oh them. They are from the school of medicine. They will be with us now to help with illness and other medical emergencies when the need arises." Alex said and those on guard nodded their heads.

"That’ll be great!"

It was a good news for them as not all of them were Awakened.

They were bound to get ill or injured and having someone with medical expertise would increase their chances of living by a lot.

"A very warm welcome to you too." The guards nodded at David and the others and said.

David and the other medical students acknowledged their greetings with a smile.

They were feeling better with what they had seen at the moment.

At least there wasn’t anyone fighting each other for water and food here.

"Let’s not talk out here. There is still work to be done." Alex said and they got into the dorm building.

However, he didn’t go back to Brian’s room with his friends but brought David and the others to the floors that were now empty first.

"Pick a room and settle in. Come find me in Brian’s room when you are done." He said and David with the others began to pick an empty room to stay in.

After Alex and his friends got back to Brian’s room, he took out some of the instant ramen and some other food items he had gotten from the convenience store.

He handed them over to Terry for him to prepare a warm meal of lunch.

"Nice. There’s instant ramen." Terry took the instant ramen and the other food items and said.

What used to be something he only ate when he had no other choice was like a rare delicious delicacy now.

Meanwhile, Alex sat by the corner and he thought about what to do next.

First, there was Teresa and her team to be fed, but he was not going to be delivering the food by himself or Brian.

With Brian’s ability it would be a waste for him to be doing so.

There must be someone having drones of their own in the dorm building.

It would be much better for them to be delivering the food to Teresa and her team instead.

Next, he would have to let David and the other medical students settle in as soon as possible for them.

They would have to organize among themselves on what and how they could do to help.

Alex didn’t have any medical knowledge himself and it would be best to let the professionals handle it.

All he could contribute was the medicine and equipment he had gotten from the school of medicine and the rewards from his SSS Level Storage ability.

Then, there was the need to reinforce the dorm building with whatever means he had at the moment to make it safer.

Terry with his leveled up ability would help a lot with it.
