Chapter 48: Patricia

Knock.

It was Eddy and Lin knocking on the doors and Alex let them in.

They were there at the right moment.

"Everything’s fine so far.

"There were the usual mutated beasts trying to get in but we managed to kill them off.

"And on top of that, there were some other students trying to come into the building but we drove them off."

Eddy and Lin briefed Alex on what happened.

"Good job." Alex said and he began to distribute bottles of water, MRE ration packs, and some of the food and items he had gotten from the convenience store to them.

"Thanks." Eddy and Lin thanked him and they kept the water and food.

"I do need your help on one thing though..." Alex pointed at the drone that was by his side and said, "...I need your help to find those who have drones of their own to deliver stuff to the school of Bio-science everyday."

"That’s probably not an issue. I recall some of the students having a drone of their own." Eddy said and nodded his head at him.

They were in the school of engineering and it was common for those interested in robotics and aviation to have drones as a hobby, so it shouldn’t be a problem.

"I’ll leave it to you to take care of it." Alex went on and briefed them on what was required and they took note of it.

Eddy and Lin left after they were done.

It didn’t take long to have another group of followers to the room.

David and the other medical students had come as instructed.

"Welcome to our dorm building." Alex said and let them come into the room.

By now the aroma of the instant ramen filled the air, and it was alluring to David and the others.

David and the others stole a glance at the instant ramen that Terry was processing, and they swallowed a mouthful of saliva uncontrollably.

The smell and sight of it made them hungry again.

Alex shrugged at them and said, "I know that you are hungry for now but I need to brief you on how things work around here.

"You get food and water only when you contribute to the survival of everyone here in the dorm building.

"And that’s why I called you here."

He went on to brief them on how he needed them to be on standby for duties together with the guards, and also have them take care of the other students in the dorm building.

Then, he asked David to organize among themselves for it and David took on the responsibility.

"Designate one of the rooms for consultations with the other students." Alex said and he proceeded to hand them some bottles of water and MRE ration packs.

"Thank you so much!" David and the other medical students opened their eyes wide when they saw the bottles of water and ration packs.

This was heaven in comparison to the hell they went through earlier.

They took the bottles of water and ration packs before they left.

With them gone, there was only one last thing left for him to be worried about.

From what Eddy and Lin had told him earlier, with other students beginning to try to get into the dorm building, its reinforcement had to be done as soon as possible.

Alex gave out a sigh and glanced over at Terry who was busy putting in the fried hot dog and eggs into the instant ramen.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Terry frowned and handed a bowl of instant ramen to Alex.

Alex gave him a smirk and said, "There’s more work for you later after we eat."

"Only me?" Terry shot a glance each at Riley and Brian.

Riley and Brian weren’t bothered with him and they started slurping on the instant ramen they had.

"Cook your own meal next time." Terry raised his fist at them and grumbled about their ungratefulness.

Alex shook his head at him and said, "It can only be done by you. They can’t do it."

Terry felt better at what Alex had said, and asked, "So, what do I need to do?"

"I need you to reinforce the building with that ability of yours since you can create metals with different forms now." Alex began to brief him on what could be done, and Terry nodded while he slurped on the instant ramen.

When he was finished, Riley and Brian shrugged at Terry and said, "See, it’s not us. We can’t help you with that."

"Not so fast for both of you." Alex chimed in before Terry could retort and glanced at Brian.

Brian frowned when Alex’s gaze fell onto him.

"I might need you to use your ability to fire up some steam engines when the oil and diesel run out eventually." Alex said and Brian shrugged his shoulders.

"I’ll be more than proud to do so when the time arrives." Brian said and Terry rolled his eyes at him.

They continued with their meal and when they were done with it, Alex and Terry went to the ground floor to begin on the reinforcement work.

First, Terry created metallic walls that reached three meters high surrounding the dorm buildings.

They wanted to continue with it when the walls were done but Terry was too tired to do so after exhausting himself with using his ability for a prolonged period of time.

"Here you go." Alex gave Terry a snack bar while he recuperated.

Terry took the snack bar and opened it immediately.

He wanted to have a bite at it but he stopped and froze when he saw someone approaching them.

Alex frowned when he saw who they were.

It was Patricia holding a pot of plants in her hand and three of her friends following her.

They had walked over to the dorm building from the Business Building.

"Stop right there." Alex raised his hand at them and said.

Patricia stopped and her friends did the same.

"What do you want?" Alex asked and Patricia stepped forward.

"I saw that you’ve brought back some students into the dorm building earlier and we want to be like them.

"I know that you have food and water in there." She said and waited for Alex’s reply.

"I’ve let them join since they can help us medically.

"I could let you join but what do you have to offer to me?

"There’s no need for someone to come up with slides anymore in the apocalypse."

Alex said and Patricia raised the pot of plants in her hand.

"I believe you would be very interested in my ability." She said.
