Chapter 8: Other Awakened

Jack stood where he was and prepared to enjoy the show, but the smirk disappeared in the next moment.

He sensed that his rats sent to take care of the intruders had all been decimated.

Those intruders earlier were much better than he had thought.

Maybe, he had to take care of them by himself.

His lips turned into a chilling grin and he shouted at his men, "Stop. Jim and Lee follow me.

"The rest of you stay where you are and keep an eye on them."

"But Jack, I was all ready to do them...." One of his men said and quickly kept quiet when he felt the gaze of Jack on him.

He didn’t want to be ripped apart and eaten up by Jack’s rats, while they were still alive, just like what had happened to some of the unfortunate souls earlier.

All of them nodded their heads, held the weapons in their hands, and turned around at the students.

The students were now huddled together in fear after what had happened.

Jack left with Jim and Lee and they headed to where Alex was.

Alex with Brian and Terry was at the midway point of the corridor when they heard footsteps on the far end of the corridor.

Creak.

The doors at the end to the stairs opened and three figures appeared from them.

It was Jack with Jim and Lee.

Jim, who was burly, stepped forward and he pointed at Alex with a burst of laughter.

"Look at them. What were they thinking with that broom and mop?" He laughed and glanced over at Lee.

But Lee was stern-looking and said, "Don’t drop your guard, even though we are D Level Awakened.

"They took care of Jack’s rats all by themselves so it’s best we treat them with the respect they deserve."

"Heh. Why worry, we have Jack who is A Level Awakened over here." Jim said but Jack was expressionless like Lee was.

Alex with his heightened sense pondered on what they had said.

This would be a great opportunity for him to figure out how the Rankings worked.

He had a hunch that his SSS Level was higher than S Level due to his better physique than Brian’s and Terry’s.

But he wasn’t sure if A Level and the subsequent D Level were above SSS Level or below S Level.

It would come at a risk but it was a necessary step to find out more about the Awakening and figure out how it works.

"Give them all you got.

"Take care of the burly and the stern-looking man.

"I shall take care of the man standing at the back." Alex said to Brian and Terry and they nodded their heads at him.

It was no time to hide their abilities anymore.

After dealing with the rats earlier, they knew that the three students, even though they were well dressed, were out to kill them.

There would be no hesitation or you shall pay the ultimate price with your life.

Alex and the two of them got ready to spring a surprise on them with their abilities and they didn’t have to wait too long for it.

Jim gave out a roar and the muscles on his body began to grow and become bigger.

He lunged at Brian with his fist, thinking that Brian was the weakest link among the three of them.

Whoosh.

When his right hook came at Brian from the side, Brian was able to miraculously dodge with ease.

And it was not all.

Jim was astonished when he saw a fireball that was half his size coming at him.

"Awakened!" He shouted but there was no time for him to figure things out.

Jim raised his arms in front of his body to block it.

Boom!

An explosion ensued when the fireball caught him.

His forearms were ripped apart and the flames started raging on his body.

"Argh! Help me!" Jim shouted but Lee was busy on the other side.

Brian wasn’t done yet.

He held his hands up at Jim and another huge fireball could be seen appearing in front of him.

When it had gotten big enough, he unleashed it at Jim.

Boom!

Another explosion ensued and Jim collapsed on the ground with his charred body lying motionlessly.

On the other side, Lee was busy with Terry.

His fist and arms had turned metallic but he was surprised when he saw Terry’s body turning into a metallic form.

He gasped and realized that Terry and most probably Alex and Brian were at a higher level than he was.

However, it was too late for him now.

Terry smirked at Lee and he walked slowly towards him.

Dang!

A few punches were thrown at him by Lee but it didn’t hurt much.

There were a few slight dents left on his metallic body but the dents disappeared after a few moments.

Terry glanced at Lee and pulled his arm back.

Lee saw what was happening and he braced himself by crossing his arms in front of his body and lifting up his leg, desperately trying to block the vital parts of his body.

However, it wasn’t enough against someone with an S Level Ability.

Thud!

Terry gave a punch at the arms of Lee and the metallic arms of Lee couldn’t withstand the blow.

"Argh! Damn you bastard!" Lee cried out in pain as his arms were now crooked from the blow. But it was not over yet for him.

Terry followed up with an uppercut and it sent Lee up into the air, leaving a streak of blood and broken tooth behind his trajectory.

Then, Lee dropped dead onto the ground with a mangled face.

Alex had by now come up to Jack.

"I would stop if I were you." Jack said without any expression.

"You sure about that?" Alex replied with a shrug of his shoulders but he was on high alert.

He wasn’t so naive to think that the leader of the other two awakened wouldn’t have something up his sleeve.

And he was right.

Loud footsteps could be heard coming from the air-con duct above and from the stairs behind Jack.

Jack smirked and shouted, "Rip him apart!"
