When Lei Qian heard the response of his grandfather, he could not help but turn furious. He glared at him and asked angrily, "Do you even understand what you are saying, grandfather?" He wanted to keep these two with them in this safe base? This place that he and Bai Meiyue had built to protect their child? He would never allow such a thing to happen. "No. I refuse. This safe base is something that Yueyue built, and she did so much hard work because she wanted nothing but happiness for our child. She will certainly not be happy if you let these two stay with us." And he would never do something that would make Bai Meiyue unhappy.

However, Grandpa Lei was not someone who was used to listening to others. If anything, he was used to commanding people. When he heard Lei Qian say no, he grew unusually stern and said in an imposing voice, "I was not asking you, Ah Qian. I was telling you. She is still your grandmother and my wife; I have the responsibility of taking care of her. How can I abandon her?"

"If you respect me as your grandfather, then you will certainly listen to me."

Hearing his words, Lei Qian was shocked at first, as he could not understand what was going on in the mind of his grandfather. Why would he want to keep a woman like his grandmother by his side? Was he crazy?

"Grandfather—" he began, but before he could say anything more, he was interrupted by Old Master Lei, who raised his hand. "That will be enough." He glared at his grandson and stated in a stern manner, "I am afraid that even if I am old and helpless, I can still make such decisions. I am telling you, Ah Qian. if you send your grandmother away, then you will have to send me away as well. I will not abandon her."

He then turned silent as if waiting for Lei Qian to make a decision.

Lei Qian stared at his old man for two whole seconds before turning around on his feet and walking away. He could not be bothered by the mess this old man was trying to make at the moment. What did he mean by keeping those two women by his side? Either his grandfather had lost his mind or he was the one who had some fucked-up memory stored in his head because all he could remember was their betrayal. Something that his grandfather did not.

Bang!

Bai Meiyue was not even surprised when she saw a rather heated-looking Lei Qian walking inside her office. She simply glanced at him and stared at the fumes that were coming out of his head before saying to him, "If you set my office on fire like you blew up your house, I am telling you, you will not see the sun tomorrow." She was getting tired of him losing control every now and then and then setting fire all over the place. She had received more complaints about Lei Qian alone than the rest of the ability users put together.

Ever since he had awakened for the second time, he had not given her peace of mind for even a day. It was practically impossible for the two of them to continue like this!

"How can I stay calm? Do you even know what my grandfather has done—"

"He probably asked you to let your grandmother stay." Bai Meiyue picked up another document and then started to read it. The second-grade crystal nuclei were running low, and they needed to go and get some. These crystal nuclei were difficult to obtain, as the second-grade zombies were rather hard to kill. Only C- or B-grade ability users could make use of their skills to kill these second-rank zombies, and she did not have many of them.

"He actually asked my grandmother—wait, how do you know that?" Lei Qian turned to look at his partner and the mother of his child. "How come you found out about it so soon? Did Xiao Wu awaken an ability without me knowing?" Did he develop high-speed skills or the skill of telepathy? Because how come Bai Meiyue found out what happened at the gates of the safe base without even going out?

Bai Meiyue sighed. She picked up her son from the cradle and said to Lei Qian, "This is expected. Your old man has been quite lonely ever since he came to the safe base; he either drinks tea with Old Grandpa Bai or walks around the greenhouse. You have been in a coma for quite a long time, and then there is also the matter of Lei Yan going to the missions every day. Your parents have each other to keep them company, which leaves your old grandpa quite alone."

She paused and then started patting her son, who was whining in his sleep. "And then there is also the matter of him growing old."

"In short, you are saying that he has become so foolish because he is lonely?" Lei Qian was speechless.

"I never said that he has grown foolish," corrected Bai Meiyue with an arched brow. "I simply said that he is so lonely that he has made some wrong decisions without thinking it through. Quit putting words in my mouth."

"Hah! Ha! Ah!" Bai Cai, who had woken up, listened to the voice of his mother and started reaching for her hand and mouth. His little hands were trying their best to touch their faces.

Lei Qian took their son into his arms and started to rock him to sleep. With a frown on his face, he could not help but say, "And so what is the solution?"

"There is no solution to this." Bai Meiyue shook her head and then sat back down on her chair. "In the end, it is your grandfather’s decision. If he wants to keep Old Madam Lei, then he is free to do so." Lei Qian paused and raised his head slowly to look at Bai Meiyue, who was smiling and suddenly felt terror gripping his heart. He suddenly had a really bad feeling. "All you have to do is pay more rent."

Lei Qian: "..." He knew it! Bai Meiyue could never be that charitable and kind.
