Armed Train in the Apocalypse
Chapter 953: All Rivers Run to the Sea (Part 8)_2
When they emerged fully armed, they didn’t see a throng of scavengers.
Only a solitary man and woman stood in front of the base.
The man wore a trench coat, with long hair tied into a ponytail, while the woman had horns atop her head and a sizzling figure.
One cautious subordinate said, “Commander Wang, the other side looks like evolvers…”
Wang Qi sneered, “Who cares what kind of evolvers they are, this is Black Kite! Do we have any reports?”
The latter shook his head.
“Then they’re intruders. First, report to the higher-ups, then prepare for combat. The moment we get the order, kill the man first!”
As for the woman, she should be just perfect for venting some of his anger.
Can’t handle the head of the train and that bitch Shu Wei, but can’t you handle two wild evolvers?
Wang Qi licked his lips, barely starting to daydream when a loud voice behind him said, “Open the gate.”
“Commander Bai Lu is here!”
The crowd rushed aside, clearing the path.
Upon hearing this, Wang Qi’s expression slightly twisted, but he quickly put on a smile and turned to greet him.
“Commander Bai Lu, I didn’t expect such a minor issue would trouble you, I can handle it…”
The man in battle armor didn’t even spare him a glance, waved him aside, blocking the rest of his words.
Several warriors behind him followed suit, and someone even bumped directly into Wang Qi, causing him to stagger.
Wang Qi’s face turned red and blue, angry and ashamed, “Commander Bai, the identity of the people outside is unknown, if anything happens to the base’s defense, can you take responsibility?!”
But the warriors had already opened the gate, making Wang Qi feel even more humiliated.
No one cared what he said.
Years ago, the twin deer brought two teams to protect Shu Wei. After three years of battle, ten men dwindled to six, including the twin deer. But the four surviving warriors were all promoted to Tier Two with Shu Wei’s resources, including Tier Three Bai Lu, and Tier Two Giraffe. Whether in combat strength or status in Black Kite, Wang Qi couldn’t compete with them.
It’s not his ability supporting the Silver Kite Medal, but the Silver Kite Medal supporting Wang Qi.
That’s the difference.
With the sound of machinery, sunlight and dust poured into the corridor from outside, Bai Lu strode towards the man.
Wang Qi’s face was so dark it seemed it could drip water, yet he dared not take issue with Bai Lu, and his resentful hatred naturally shifted to the young man and woman outside, wishing Bai Lu would strike and take them down directly.
But then the infuriating scene unfolded—Bai Lu wasn’t attacking them, but chatting and laughing.
A past acquaintance?
Could they be people from the Armed Train?
His sinister speculations proved fruitless, making him even more stifled.
Behind him came more hurried footsteps, and Wang Qi instinctively turned his head, only to see Miss Black Kite, who usually did everything unhurriedly, now racing towards him. Her black skirt made an unprecedented arc, like raven feathers blown by the wind.
The usual invisible ice shell surrounding her crumbled in the airflow of her sprint. Carefully arranged hair disheveled, with a strand clinging to her neck, each leap tugging at his heart.
The resentment buried in his heart for three years seemed to vanish at this moment, the surprise too sudden, even leaving him flustered.
Just as they were about to collide, a muscular arm hooked around his throat, dragging him aside.
Wang Qi watched wide-eyed as the stunning figure brushed past him and ran into the sunlight outside the base, overtaking Bai Lu…
The spine that always stood straight as a ruler softened into a gentle curve when approaching that man.
Then she leapt into the man’s arms.
So she too could be lively like this.
Before any other emotions surfaced, the immense force on his throat made him grimace in anger, and behind him came Giraffe’s deep warning, “Next time, be more perceptive—don’t block the way!”
Su Huan naturally knew nothing of Wang Qi, who was almost strangled, and he hadn’t seen his little secretary for a long time.
He teased, “I thought you had lost heart…”
“Why haven’t you come to find me for so long?”
Shu Wei’s voice was as soft as a dream, clutching his neck tightly and inhaling his scent with force.
“What?”
Su Huan hesitated.
Before he could react, the woman released him, stepped back to tidy her clothes, her expression cold yet noble, carrying the composure of a superior, as if the person who had just embraced him wasn’t her at all.
“Nothing. It’s Black Kite’s honor for the captain to come; I wonder if there are any orders?”
Su Huan tilted his head, looking into her crystal-clear gray-blue eyes, unsure what trick his little secretary was playing, subconsciously curling a smile at the corner of his mouth, “Are you sure you want to talk to me like this?”
Shu Wei respectfully said, “Indeed, this is not the place for talking; please follow me.”
“Hehe…”
The man behind squeezed out a fragmentary laugh from between his teeth.
Su Huan watched the woman alternate her legs, gritted his teeth, and followed patiently.
Behind him, Bai Lu scratched his head and asked Giraffe softly, “What’s the secretary up to now?”
Giraffe crossed his arms and chuckled quietly, “It’s called the charm of spontaneity, don’t pry. I have a feeling we’re about to return.”
“Return?” Bai Lu’s eyes widened, “Back to the train?”
“Indeed, three years and then another three, if it keeps up, I’ll soon have a dark gold badge…”
Giraffe sighed.
Inside the base, numerous staff looked at Su Huan with surprise, curious about the identity of this handsome man and why Miss Black Kite was personally leading him. But no one dared openly gossip about Shu Wei; she spent three years making everyone forget her gender and even erase the term “Miss Shu”.
Black Kite was her, and she was the sole leader of Black Kite!
As they passed through the enormous administrative office and reached the transparent room at the end, the woman’s aura returned. This stretch of road wasn’t just a regular corridor—it was the queen’s coronation path.
When Shu Wei sat behind the lone desk in the clear office, the high-ranking aura displayed vividly in her three-dimensional and arrogant features.
The woman leaned on the executive chair like Su Huan used to.
Only now the roles were reversed; this wasn’t the Armed Train’s carriage but Black Kite’s headquarters—her home ground.
And the scene was similar, only she was seated, and Su Huan stood.
“Let me introduce myself, Black Kite.”
This introduction was overly familiar—no names, no prefixes, as the speaker believed these two words sufficed; the listener should know or remember.
He often did this, but never thought he’d hear the same one day.
Su Huan smiled faintly, “I can’t guarantee I’ll always be loyal, but as long as you remain strong, I’ll be your most loyal servant and your sharpest sword… I remember correctly?”
The woman’s sharp brows slightly raised with a hint of provocation.
“And does your power persist?”
“What do you think?”
“Then conquer me.”
In her gray-blue eyes, flames blazed, melting the icy mountain.
Su Huan glanced at the surrounding transparent glass walls and the staff moving outside, twitched his lips, “Are you sure it’s here?”
“Why can’t it be here? What significance does an unobserved conquest have?”
“Hiss…”
Su Huan fell silent for a moment, the lingering feeling of meeting an old friend after leaving the institution was jarring.
Was he this crazy back then?
But there was no time for such thoughts; the captain’s dignity had to remain unchallenged.
The woman pursed her lips, casually pressed a remote control, causing the previously transparent glass to instantly fog, and the two merging human silhouettes gradually vanished.
Three seconds after the glass fogged, everyone in the administrative office outside simultaneously picked up unfinished documents and walked out.
Some discussed work, others chatted about family, utterly ignoring what was happening inside the office room.
