Chapter 236. Kowtow three times?

  • Next Chapter

York City University.

Combat Department.

Professorship conference room 32.

Entrance.

A brown-haired young man clad in a hoodie, jeans, and sneakers stood at the entrance with his hands in his pockets.

The sky rumbled, and suddenly, rain started to fall.

Aiden looked up.

"Looks like it’s gonna rain for a while," he thought and went through the door.

Arriving on the ground floor of the building, he sat on a couch and contacted a number he had received after taking on the mission.

The person on the other end was supposed to receive him and escort him to meet the Operation Wipeout team members.

After the call ended, he started scrolling through his phone, quietly in thought.

"Most likely, the next batch of assassins that will be sent after me will capitalize on the ruined city’s environment to attempt to kill me. If they are stronger than the previous batch, those guarding me from the shadows may not be able to handle them. I will have to make use of some of the legendary Rank 3 poisons if it comes to that."

As Aiden was in thought, several people passed by the ground floor.

Some of them were professors. Others were students running some errands and had some meetings or appointments with the professors.

Suddenly, the doors leading to the ground floor from outside swung open.

A gentleman had his hand wrapped around the waist of a lady.

"Babe, I’m cold," the lady said. "Let’s find a place to sit."

"Don’t worry, dear. Didn’t I tell you that I will make you very comfortable? I am one of the top-ranked students in the university. See, even some professors in the Combat Department have to give me some face. You know, my uncle is the Artifact Engineer branch head in the Southern District of York City."

The lady’s eyes sparkled. She was a freshman who had just arrived on campus a couple of weeks ago. She didn’t come from a reputable background. She was from a normal family and had gained access into York City University through her talent.

But she knew talent was not enough to survive.

She needed connections. So she made a decision before she came to campus.

She needed to find a rich dude with connections to latch onto, so that she would gain access to protection and, if possible, resources during her stay on campus.

Fortunately for her, life didn’t frown on her. She encountered this gentleman several hours ago during a party at dawn in one of the co-ed dormitories on campus. Considering his clothes, he was rich.

Because of this, she took initiative and started flirting with him.

"To think I was right about him. I have really struck it big time," the lady thought. "But I need to know I can easily manipulate him. If he can’t be easily manipulated, I will have to find someone else. After all, if he can’t be easily manipulated, how will I get resources from him and get him to do things for me?"

"Wow... you really are the best~" the lady said as she poked the guy’s chest.

"You know what... that guy over there..." The lady pointed towards Aiden’s direction.

"He has taken the most comfortable seat. How about you get him to stand up so that we can sit down... I promise that when we leave here, I will show you a good time." She whispered into his ears.

The gentleman’s eyes gleamed. He was a regular teenager. When he heard about the lady showing him a good time, every reason flew out of his mind.

He looked towards the ordinary-looking handsome dude crossing his legs on the couch a few distances across from them.

"He looks weak. Must be some student seeking shelter from the rain," the gentleman thought.

The couple swaggered towards Aiden’s direction.

Some of the students were walking around the place. They saw the gentleman and his girlfriend walking up to Aiden and also heard the conversation between the couple.

"Sigh... This guy is a top ranker among the students. But he’s really gotten some big ego recently."

"I know, right. He’s letting power get to his head."

"And the fact that his uncle was just promoted to the position of the branch manager of the Artifact Engineer’s Association in the Southern District is helping him. He has some background."

"I pity that student sitting on the couch. He will most likely try to humiliate the fellow as entertainment for his girlfriend."

Aiden suddenly looked up.

He saw the gentleman and his girlfriend.

"Can I help you?" Aiden asked politely.

"Scram for me. Also, kowtow three times for not greeting me before speaking, and I will let you off with a few bruises on your head," the gentleman said.

Aiden didn’t say anything.

He ignored the couple and went back to his phone. He was chatting with Desmonda.

Desmonda was telling him about how their coursemates, the fourth years, were all giving her and the others absolute respect. No one wanted to offend them because they knew they were the disciples of Ashbourne Cane.

She even mentioned that some coursemates, though, had challenged her and the others to some duels—obviously because they wanted to use Desmonda and the others to make names for themselves.

Aiden was replying to her when the guy and the lady appeared and started spouting bullshit.

He didn’t see the need to entertain them.

Aiden’s calm and cold response by ignoring the fellow made him look extremely cartoonish and stupid.

The guy looked at his lady.

"Babe, aren’t you a top ranker? Give him a few slaps so that he will know his place," the lady said.

Under the gazes of several people passing by, the gentleman stepped forward. He lifted his hand. His hand gleamed with a silver light as it turned into metal and came down on Aiden.

"Since you won’t kowtow three times and scram, don’t blame me for losing patience," the gentleman said.
