Baili Xia stood at the doorway, her heart already sour the moment she saw Uncle.

Hearing his indifferent voice, she was even more uncertain whether it was more of heartache or anger.

“What did Ning Anran want from you?” Not knowing what to say to break the ice, she chose this topic.

“She came to tell me that she doesn’t want to be Miss Sun of the Mu family.”

Mu Xiaojiu didn’t even lift his head, his gaze still fixed on the computer screen.

His long fingers were rapidly tapping on the keyboard, the clattering sounds made it evident that he was indeed very busy.

Baili Xia knew she should leave, that she shouldn’t disturb him at a time like this.

Yet Uncle’s cold demeanor made her feel very unwilling to let it go.

“Why would she tell you these things?”

She walked over, trying hard to calm herself down.

Trying to tell herself that he was her Uncle, her Jiu.

There was nothing they couldn’t talk about between them, so there was no need for her to feel as if she was intruding.

They were lovers, weren’t they?

But on second thought, when had Uncle ever said they were lovers?

He hadn’t even said a single word of confession, they had simply naturally and logically come together.

Being lovers or not was all just her own imagination.

She looked at Mu Xiaojiu’s perfect profile with many words she wanted to say, but in the end, she remained quiet and waiting.

“Perhaps, she feels that I have the ability to change all this,” Mu Xiaojiu finally finished his work, pressing the last letter and after clicking send, he shut down his email and turned to look at her.

“What’s up? Did you need something from me?”

Baili Xia glared at him, finally getting somewhat angry.

“Is it that I can’t look for you if there’s nothing important?”

She knew this sounded childish, but honestly, she felt both agitated and stifled in her heart.

She had been uncomfortable all afternoon and into the night, yet how could he still maintain such composure?

“About your family background?

Sorry, I didn’t know before either.”

Mu Xiaojiu turned around to face her, patting his thigh: “Come here.”

Baili Xia really wanted to go over; just by going over, their relationship could revert back to how it once was, and they could properly be together again.

She would still be the girl he doted on, and he would still be the Uncle she liked.

But after everything that happened today, with Uncle still having this attitude, didn’t he really have anything to say to her?

“Don’t you find it strange? Or rather, are you not even a bit surprised?”

She didn’t go over, just stood there, staring blankly at him.

Mu Xiaojiu leaned back in his chair, still patting his thigh.

Baili Xia exhaled and eventually obediently went over.

No sooner had she arrived than she was scooped up by her willowy waist, lifted, and in his most favored, yet most embarrassing for her manner, she was seated astride his lap.

“Being surprised or not won’t change the situation. I never felt that the identity of Miss Sun suited you anyway. If you don’t want it, just let it go. Do you care about it?”

Mu Xiaojiu looked down at her with cool words that still lacked much warmth.

After thinking for a moment, Baili Xia shook her head: “I don’t care.”

Maybe this was for the best, now the two of them could be together openly and legitimately.

Of course, that’s provided he doesn’t bring up again that she should get engaged to Brother.

“Then why do you look so frustrated now?”

Mu Xiaojiu extended his long finger, tapping her lips, and suddenly leaned in to kiss her.

Baili Xia turned her face away, avoiding his kiss, which then landed on her chin.

Afterward, it moved along her chin towards her neck…
